Prologue
"Sesshoumaru! Be careful!" Kagome called out as their lands were once again under attack from other demons believing that the great demon lord had weakend for the fact that he had taken a human as a mate.
She watched as he danced his deadly dance, a dance of swords. The ringing of swords echoed across the now barren land as they came together to see who the victor would be. Trees, rivers and even the small lakes around the castle were now gone from the mere energy coming from the two warriors who were engaged in a deep battle.
Kagome ran along the walls, tripping every so often on her elegant kimono. She stopped as she felt a wave of demonic energy heading straight for her. She looked to her left out to the battle field. Her eyes widened as she saw a blast coming straight for her.
The last thing she saw was a silver blur heading towards her.
Sesshoumaru
He rushed after the blast as it headed for his mate up on the castle walls, his heart was pounding as he watched the blast reach her before he could. It hit the wall and he howled out in anger as the wall crumbled to the ground along with his mate who he was sure was now dead.
He wheeled around, anger rushing through his body as if a dam had been broken. He gave a howl and his body started to transform into that of his true demon form. Within mintues his opponent who had seemed to be beating him just mere minutes before lay dead on the ground before him.
Changing back into his human form he walked over to the collapsed wall and searched for his mate. Finding her he winced at what he saw. Many minor as well as serious wounds covered her body from head to toe as it seemed. He gathered her up into his arms as gently as he could and carried her back into the castle where Rin came running at them, two identical children hot on her heals.
"Is... momma okay?" Rin asked as she looked at her adopted mother in the arms of her adopted father. She was now fifteen years old. The two children behind her were six.
"Rin, take Kuragari and Anya and go find Jaken."
He watched as the two children grinned and then took off running. Rin shrugged then turned and ran off after the two. He then looked down at the woman in his arms. He sighed and then headed down the hall to her room.
Entering her room he set her down and then walked out, calling in servents to wash her and dress her wounds. He then left to his study to bury himself in his work to forget about her for a while.
Kagome
Kagome groaned as she opened her eyes, pain rushed through her body as she tried to move. She looked down at her body and winced as a sharp pain shot through her head. She lifted her hand and brought it to her head and felt a bandage wrapped tightly around her forehead.
She didn't know what was going on, all she knew was she wasn't in Kaede's hut anymore. She had remembered the battle from last night but little of it. Sesshoumaru had once again attacked his half brother Inuyasha, catching their group off guard. She tried to remember everything else but couldn't remember what had happened after that at all.
"I see you are awake now."
She gasped and looked over to see Sesshoumaru standing at the door with a smile on his face. She moved away from him and gave another gasp as her body touched up against the wall and sent another wave of pain through her body.
"You stay away from me Sesshoumaru. I don't know what happened but where is Inuyasha?!" She all but yelled out at him.
She watched as his smile disappeared and he gave a low rumbling growl and stepped forward. Her heart was pounding as she watched him stop. He was looking straight at her, his golden eyes boring into her own.
After a minute he turned around and calmly walked out of the room. What had he done to her, what had he done to Inuyasha and her friends? Why did he bring her back to his castle. She had to escape and she would do that tonight whether she was in pain or not.
The day seemed to go by so slowly. She sat by the window of the castle looking out to the grounds below. She gave a small smile as she watched two children racing around the garden with another older girl who looked to be laughing at something. She wondered when the demon lord had taken in two more children for she knew about the girl, Rin.
It was a few hours later when the children ran back into the castle and Kagome moved from the window to sit on the bed. It was getting dark finally and she would need to be ready to flee from the demon lord's home. She knew he was fast and she hoped that he wouldn't catch her before she found Inuyasha and her friends.
Servents then rushed in through the door carrying trays of food. She smiled and thanked them and began to eat as they rushed back out the door.
She was glad that once they gathered the trays they left her alone for the rest of that evening and soon nightfall came. It would be soon when she made her move to escape from the clutches of the lord Sesshoumaru. With in two more hours it seemed that the time came for her to make the escape.
She walked to the door and stepped out into the hallway. She stood there in the darkness for a few minutes straining her ears to hear anything that would mean she had to wait a little longer. But no sound came, only the quietness of the castle greeted her ears.
She smiled to herself and then took off down the hall along the walls. Her feet leading her and it seemed as if she knew this place, although she had no clue as to why she knew about this place. She had never been here before this night.
She was amazed as she opened a door and was greeted by the night sky and open land. She looked behind her and then back in front of her. She then took off running across the land, her heart was pounding as she made a mad dash for the cover and safety of the dark forest ahead of her.
As she reached the border of the forest she stopped and leaned against a tree to catch her breath. She knew though that she wasn't safe yet, Sesshoumaru could make it to her in less than twenty seconds. Once she caught her breath she looked around the forest and then started to walk away from the castle in the direction of Kaede's village. The pain rushing through her body was to much but she kept on going for as long as she could.
Hours passed and soon there was a touch of pink in the sky, meaning the sun was just beyond the horizon. She had walked all night despite the pain but now she couldn't take anymore as she collapsed to the ground in a faint.
