A Vow To Remember

A Summer's Rain Fall

It was the summer of 05', school had just let out for my friends and I. We had no thoughts of our empty hallways, lockers, classrooms, desks, text books, and more importantly we had no thoughts of our empty school. We didn't even stop to ask ourselves where the year had gone. Why? Because all we needed to know was that the school year was gone, in a sense the school year had died. This school year would blend together just like everything else does. We may've finished our seventh grade year but summer has barely begun.

Yet somehow just like our Summer of Fun, I had barely begun to wake up. That was until; as if on cue my phone rang out like an alarm clock you had forgotten to turn off on a Friday night.

"I'll keep you my dirty little secret, don't tell anyone or you'll be just another regret..."

Desperately trying to block out the annoying sound of my cell phone calling out to me, I tossed the phone across my bed. Yet somehow when I had leaned over my legs became tangled in a mass of blankets, effectively causing the loud "THUMP" as I landed in the floor beside my bed.

"Well isn't that nifty, my phone is still ringing..." I muttered under my breath.

Now as I think back on that phone call, I can defiantly say it was a phone call "I'd rather not receive."

Flipping open the phone, I saw that it was my father.

"Hello, Da--" Sesshomaru was cut short by his father's quivering voice. He sounded as if he was about to shatter...

"Sesshomaru..."

"Dad, what's wrong? Is it...Inu Yasha?"

The thought that my mom, the only woman I thought I knew would always be in my life no matter what could have something wrong with her didn't even hit me until...

"No...It's your mother...S-Sh-Sha-She-She..."

Suddenly I heard my father erupt out into tears...

I had never heard my Father cry until that very moment...

My voice filled with distress as I attempted to ask the golden question. Yet nothing could come out, my voice just cracked with a broken sob as if I already knew what my Father would tell me...

I leaned against my bed post and all I could do was listen to the broken wreck my Father had become in a matter of seconds. My thoughts ran rapid in my intelligent mind as I tried to understand, to comprehend what could have him so...So distraught.

I knew deep down there was something terribly wrong with my mom but I ignored the ominous feeling within myself and waited 'til my Father could speak again.

The first word said it all...

"Sorry..."

The golden question no longer needed to be asked, not that I could ask even if my life depended on my asking. I prepared myself for what he was about to say because I knew my life was about to change forever and there was no changing that.

"...I'm, so sorry...There was nothing the doctors could do" and with a broken sob my Father continued on with the strength I couldn't find at the moment, "I tried so hard but nothing, nothing could save her..."

I felt numb, I could hear him...He was telling me the story...The story of my mother's death...My thoughts, his words, none of it at all seemed to sink in. All I felt was a burning numbness that soon ignited into a roaring flame of hatred towards Inu Yasha...

"...Your mother passed away while giving birth to Inu Yasha, which would be why he isn't a full demon like you...Your mother wasn't able to pass on her abilities to him when he was born...Therefore he is a half-breed"

"Your mother couldn't handle the passing of her powers, so she passed away instead..."

Once I heard those fleeting words...

I promised myself one thing, I would never again have a family or a brother. They were nothing to me but a heartbreak.

Now, I need a favor...

EVERYONE who read this chapter tell me if I should continue on, if I don't receive any reviews I won't update at all & will delete. If I do & overall dislikes then I will delete. If I do & overall likings then I will update.
