Cahpter 1: My Immortal Love

*I'm so tired of being here...*

Kagome stood in the large cemetary, a single blood rose clutched in her gloved hand. The frosty December wind was chilling her through her thick coat. Fresh snow blanketed the ground and ominous dark clouds hung in the sky promising more of the frozen rain.

*Suppressed by all my childish fears...*

She looked down at the weathered ground and tombstone and read the name there.

'Sesshoumaru Takeda. December 15, 1973- December 31, 2001'

* And if you have to leave... I wish that you would just leave...*

A single tear slipped down her cheek and she placed the single blood rose on the grave. 'I'll miss you, my love.' she whispered and said a silent prayer.

She then walked back to her black Mustang and began the drive home, just as it started to snow.

*'Cause your presence still lingers here... And it won't leave me alone ...*

Kagome stepped into the large mansion, hanging her coat on a rack and proceeding to the kitchen. After pouring herself some hot chololate, she walked into the spacious sitting room and sat down in her chair in front of a roaring fire.

She sighed as she listened to the soft roaring of the fire and the silence of the house.

*These wounds won't seem to heal...*

It was New Years Eve. Most people would be celebrating for the future, but Kagome, no, she would just sit and remember the past. She thought back to five years ago, when times were happier.

*This pain is just too real*

~*Flashback*~

Her and her love sat in this very spot, just five years ago, in front of the fire, just watching the flames in each others arms.

She leaned against his broad chest and sighed as the warmth of the room and the body next to hers warmed her soul and gently lulled her to a complete state of contentment.

She sighed again.

"Is something the matter Kagome?" His smooth, deep barotone voice rang out, clear in her ears.

"No." She said, a soft smile on her face as she leaned her head against his shoulder and his strong arms tightened around her waist.

"Then why are you sighing?" He asked, curious.

She slightly giggled, he always was curious about something. "Became I am happy."

*There's just too much that time cannot erase...*

He smiled at her. Kagome, the only woman to have ever melted his heart, and the only one who would ever have it. "And why is that?"

"Because of you." She said, turning her head and kissing him passionatly.

~*End Flashback*~

*When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears...When you screamed I'd fight away all of your fears...*

Kagome wiped away some of the stray tears from her pretty face and took a sip of her hot chocolate.

She gave a watery smile at the memory of his last birthday.

~*Flashback*~

"Kagome! I'm home!" He called out to his newly wedded wife while stepping into the large mansion they had just bought one year ago. He hung up his snow-drenched coat and called out again.

"Kagome! Are you here?"

He was greeted with silence and had begun to get a little worried. He walked into the living room only to discover that it was pitch black. Sighing, he turned on the light and was greeted by a huge chorus of voices all yelling, "SURPRISE!"

His eyes widened a fraction and he looked out at the smiling faces of the people he called his family. His best friend Miroku was there with his wife, Sango and their children Kirara and Souten. His mother and brother-in-law was there as well, along with Kagome's grandfather. Heck, even his younger brother, InuYasha was there with his wife Kikyou and their children, Rin and Shippou.

He blinked in surprise and looked at Kagome who had somehow latched herself onto his arm and raised an eyebrow. She had done this for him? He never had a birthday party before.

*And I held your hand through all of these years...But you still have...*

"Aren't you surprised?" She asked, looking a little crestfallen.

"Astounded. " He said, not wanting to make her unhappy. He walked into the room and he and his family celebrated his birthday for the first time in his life.

~*End Flashback*~

*All of me...*

Kagome nearly sobbed as she remembered the day that they met.

~*Flashback*~

"Excuse me! Sorry, I have to get through!" A seventeen year old Kagome yelled as she ran through the crowded streets of Tokyo. She was late for work again and if she didn't get there fast her butt was going to be out of a job.

Turning a street corner, she didn't see it when she ran into a boy carrying a cup of very hot coffee.

"Oh my god! I'm so sorry! Let me help you!" She said hurriedly, not even looking at the boy. "I'm sorry I wasn't watching where I was going, and I'm late for my job, and I'm going to get fired if I don't get there in fifteen minutes!" she said, wiping the boys clothes with the napkins he had dropped and picking up the cup. She finnaly decided to look at him and was stunned. He was the most beautiful person she'd ever seen. He looked only about nineteen and had long silver hair and beautiful golden eyes that seemed like they could peer right into her soul.

"It is fine." He said. His smooth, deep voice silencing her. "Allow me to take you to your job." He said taking the cup from her and throwing it away.

"Oh, but, I just spilt your coffee and-" she started.

"It wasn't mine, it was my asshole of a bosses. No worries though, I was going to throw it in his face and quit anyway." He said with a hint of humor.

"I'm Kagome." She said smiling at him.

"Sesshoumaru." He said plainly. "Now do you want to get to your job or what?"

*You used to captivate me by your resonating light...*

Kagome smiled and looked at him. "Are you sure?"

"Positive. Tell me where you work." He said leading her to his car.

~*End Flashback*~

*Now I'm bound by the life you left behind*

She sighed and decided to go to bed.

Walking up to her lonley room and crawling into the large king size bed that she used to share with him, she slowing drifed off to sleep.

~o~Kagome's dream~o~

"Kagome! Kagome, run!" came a pained cry.

She stood in the doorway of the room, frozen in fear as flames circled around and behind her. She didn't care. "Sesshoumaru..." she whispered, closing her eyes, willing the vision to go away.

*Your face it haunts my once pleasant dreams...*

There he lay, in the middle of the office floor, beautiful silver hair stained and mattled with blood. His blood.

He forced himself to a standing position and staggered over to her. Bullet wounds evident on his body.

"Sesshoumaru!" Kagome cried, running to him and holding him in her arms.

"Kagome...run....you have to leave." she mumbled, his voice growing faint.

*Your voice it chased away all the sanity in me...*

"NO! We have to get you to the hospital!" She cried, looking at him.

"I won't make it! Leave, go! Before this place collaspes!" He said as he pushed away from her and he fell back to the floor.

"NO!" she cried in anguish, tears streaming down her face. He gave her a sad smile. "I'll miss you, my love." was his last words as the doorframe collasped.

~o~End Dream~o~

"NO!" Kagome cried, shooting up from her bed.

*These wounds won't seem to heal...This pain is just too real*

"Sesshoumaru..." she whispered brokenly, burying her face in her hands.

*There's just too much that time cannot erase*

'Why did you leave me?' she thought as the tears she had been trying to stop flooded from her eyes.

*When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears..When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears*

'Why didn't you let me help you?' She sobbed and pulled her knees up to her chest.

*And I've held your hand through all of these years...*

'Do you want me to suffer?'

*But you still have..All of me*

She stood and looked at the clock

'12:58.' it read.

She shook her head to thwart another memory. 'And still...after all of this time...I can't bring myself to hate you.' she thought.

*I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone*

She shook her head, tears still falling from her eyes.

*But though you're still with me...I've been alone all along*

She looked at the clock again.

'!2:59'

*When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears...When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears*

She walked over to the dresser, and opening it, took out a small picture of him and placed it on the dresser.

*And I've held your hand through all of these years*

'1:00'

"Happy New Year." She said giving a small, sad smile and looking out the window at the fireworks.

*But you still have...*

Sighing, she went to her bed again and fell in to a dreamless slumber, tear marks still on her face.

*But you still have... All of me...*
