Chapter 1

Kagome sighed and looked down. Her reflection stared back at her from the blue depths of the hot spring. She didn't know what to do. They would find out, Kagome knew it. How could she hide what she felt was so obvious. None of Kagome's friends knew the truth, if they did they'd never forgive her.

Three weeks. It had been going on that long. He would come and Kagome would go to him. They would only talk at first, then it got worse. It quickly escalated from there, Kagome's virginity was no longer intact. He took it, like he did so many other things.

She never expected things to take the drastic turn as it had. Kagome became used to being around him and with him. It seemed normal to think of him when she'd usually think about Inuyasha. Inuyasha didn't really mean anything to Kagome anymore.

If they ever knew she was sleeping with their enemy they'd abandon her. Inuyasha would be so hurt, but Kagome couldn't stop. He was a part of her life now.

"The worse thing is if they knew I love him they'd never forgive me." Their physical relationship became more to her, but not him. He wouldn't allow himself the weakness called love.

Now there was a chance of a truce with Sesshoumaru. The Western Lord had approached them earlier on in the day offereing them an alliance with him against Naraku. Sesshoumaru had left shortly afterwards to let them think it out.

Sesshoumaru would be coming back soon for their answer. Kagome knew once Sesshoumaru joined them there would be no more secret meetings. Inuyasha would keep a close eye on everyone since Sesshoumaru would be there.

Kagome got up out of the spring and dried off. After getting dressed she sat quietly under a tree trying to collect her thoughts. As she sat there she reflected on how things had changed so quickly. At first she was hesitant to speak with him and tried to stay away. When she would give in and see him she was so relieved to see him. The begining of their physical relationship had mostly been denile on her part.

Being convinced she was ugly made Kagome question his motives. Kagome convinced herself that she was getting physical with him because of being ignored by Inuyasha for so ong. Then she started thinking about him as school and is quickly hit her. She was in love with him.

"I see you are thinking deeply about this."

Kagome smiled, 'Speak of the devil and he shall rise.' She sighed, "I don't know what I'm going to say. So many things will change."

"Yes, things will change. Perhaps for the better this way. Inuyasha would have found out eventually, it is inevitable."

"Yeah, better." Kagome laughed.

"Are you saying you'd miss me and whatever it is we have?"

Kagome smiled to herself, "Perhaps." Kagome stood up, but didn't turn around. "You should go. Inuyasha will want my answer soon."

He could smell her tears, "Very well." He turned and walked away calmly.

As soon as she felt his youki vanish she let the tears fall from her eyes. 'I always fall for the guys I can't have.' Once her tears subsided Kagome made her way back to camp and a choice that could change her life.

Inuyasha, Sango, Shippo, and Miroku waited for Kagome to come back. She told them she needed to think about this in private and left.

Shippo perked up when he caught Kagome's scent on the breeze. He rushed up to Kagome and jumped into her arms, hugging her chest.

Kagome hugged him, but was looking at Inuyasha. She set Shippo down and walked over to her friends, "Have you all decided?"

Sango looked up, "Yes, we all decided a while ago, but we are waiting for Sesshoumaru to return."

As soon as those words left Sango's mouth Sesshoumaru appeared before them. "I take it you have your answer."

Inuyasha stepped forward, "I will agree to this only if everyone else agrees."

Sesshoumaru turned his eyes on everyone else, "Well?"

Sango spoke up, "I do not mind. We could use the extra strength."

"Yes, I'd have to agree with Sango here." Miroku sighed, "Besides if our focus were no longer devided between yourself and Naraku we would get more done."

Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha finally turned to Kagome.

She clapped her hands together, "It's unanimous. Sango and Miroku's votes out number mine."

Inuyasha frowned, "No, it's everybody or nat at all."

Kagome hung her head. Her bangs covered her eyes frmo view. "Fine I agree. He will be a major help in the final battle with Naraku."

"It's settled then. We are in agreement with the alliance?"

Sesshoumaru's eyes never left Kagome, "Yes, it is agreed." Sesshoumaru spun on his heel and started walking away.

"Where are you going? I thought you'd be travelling with us."

Sesshoumaru stopped, "I must retrieve Jaken and Ah-Uh. I will return shortly half-breed." With that he continued walking.

"You bastard I'll kill you!"

Kagome stepped between Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru's back. "That's enough Inuyasha. Don't let him get to you."

Inuyasha settled down and returned to the tree her was previously occupying. He mumbled something about meddling humans, then quieted down.

Kagome shook her head and took out some homework. 'Math, joy.'

Some time later a small girl came through the bushes screaming about a horrible youkai. Everyone jumped up, ready for a fight. They were all shocked to see Sesshoumaru walk calmly through the bushes.

The little girl started running in circles screaming about this monster that was coming to get her.

Inuyasha pulled out the Tetsusaiga and pointed it at Sesshoumaru, "I knew it was too good to be true." He was about to lunge at Sesshoumaru when he spoke.

"Rin that is enough."

She stopped and smiled at Sesshoumaru, "I knew you would save me Lord Sesshoumaru!"

Inuyasha froze, "Save?" His eyes grew wide when Rin ran over to Sesshoumaru and hugged his leg.

Kagome laughed at Inuyasha's face, "I guess your brother isn't as bad as you think Inuyasha."

"Feh. How was I supposes to know he loves humans?"

In seconds Inuyasha was pinned against a tree with Sesshoumaru's clawed hand at his throat glowing green from his poison. "You do not know what you speak of. If you ever sat that again I will kill you alliance or not." He dropped Inuyasha and sat gracefully beneath a tree.

After some threats and death glares Inuyasha returned to his tree to sulk. Kagome went back to her homework and everything was peaceful.

Shippo watched Kagome as she did her homework. "What are you studying Kagome?"

Kagome looked up at Shippo. He was looking at the pictures in her book. "Shippo why don't you go play with Rin for a while?"

"Okay."

Kagome sighed in relief as he walked away. She flipped the page and resumed her homework. She glanced up when she saw silver hair over her book. Inuyasha was sitting, staring at her. "Can I help you?"

"What are you reading?"

"It's my health book Inuyasha. Now go away I need to finish this."

Inuyasha grabbed her book and jumped up into a tree. "We should be hunting Shikon shards not sitting here." He flipped to the next page and almost dropped the book. "What the hell?!"

"What now?"

Sesshoumaru watched them in mild interest.

"There's naked people in this book!"

Kagome almost laughed, "Yeah, you think they wouldn't cover the reproductive system in a health book?"

Inuyasha frowned. He jumped down from the tree and held the book up. He pointed at the female, "That is inaccurate!"

Kagome studdied the picture, "What are you talking about that is correct! When was the last time you saw a naked woman?"

Inuyasha blushed and looked away, "Yeah if you're such an expert is that right?!" His finger pointed to the man.

Kagome looked it over. She smiled sweetly, "Pretty much. But-"

Sesshoumaru's full attention was on Kagome and the book now. 'What will she say is different?'

Inuyasha faltered, "But what?"

Kagome placed her finger on the picture just below the crotch. "Last time I remember that was bigger." She took her book from the shocked hanyou.

He stood there, "How do you know!? Youve never seen a naked man before! Your scent is still pure."

Kagome actually looked shocked, 'It is still pure? But how?' She looked at him, "That may be so but I can still be a virgin and have seen a naked man Inuyasha."

"Who?"

"What do you mean?"

"Was it Hobo or some other guy from your school?"

"It's none of your business jerk!" Kagome grabbed her stuff. "I'm going home. I will be back tomorrow." She walked off with that.

Inuyasha crossed his arms, "Liar." He jumped back into his tree and looked down at his companions. Sango was blushing and Miroku had the same lecherous smirk on his face as usual.

Sesshoumaru was gone. Rin and Jaken were over with Ah-Uh at the edge of the clearing.

Inuyasha glared, 'Most likely sick of our human fights. Bastard.'

Kagome stepped into the clearing and sighe. "You're a jerk Inuyasha." She walked up to the well and waited. Some part of her knew he was coming and so she waited.

"You were hesitant with your answer."

Kagome laughed, "It wasn't an easy decision you know. That one choice changed a lot of things."

He stepped into her line of sight, "I told you that it may be better this way. Much has changed and will continue to change. Nothing can be done about it."

She looked into his usually cold eyes, "Yeah, but I was fine with things the way they were."

"Lying to your friends?"

"I am still lying to them and will continue to unless I tell them about us."

"Was the physical contact we shared so important to you?"

Kagome wanted so desperately to yell at him. Their 'rutting' as he called it meant nothing to her now. She wanted to tell him she loved him, but her shattered heart wouldn't let her do it. Part of Kagome didn't care that he would laugh in her face and say, 'I am incapable of love.' Shaking her head of those painful thoughts she did the only thing she could; avoid it. "Sesshoumaru why is it that Inuyasha believes I am still pure?"

He chuckled, "Your deisre to keep the truth of our activities secret has your aura changing your scent. Had I not known the truth of your purity I would also believe you are untouched."

"Yeah, well Inuyasha is an ass." Kagome shuddered.

Sesshoumaru saw this and wondered at it. There was no spike in her arousal. He looked into her eyes, 'Something is wrong.' "What is wrong Kagome?"

She barely aknowledged her name. He was coming. Kagoe didn't wantto see him. Not now not ever.

Sesshoumaru could feel her growing unease. He felt jewel shards moving towards them at a fast rate. Through their link he heard her thoughts. 'She does not wish to see him? Who is he?' With little thought, Sesshoumaru summoned their link. He used it to calm her.

Kagome felt Sesshoumaru's youki shift and flow into her. She was instantly calm. She smiled at Sesshoumaru and readied herself for his arrival.

Kouga burst through the trees in his trademark whirlwind. He stopped and smirked at Kagome completely ignoring Sesshoumaru. "Kagome! How is my woman?!"

Kagome smiled nervously. she could tell Sesshoumaru was curious. "Hi Kouga. What brings you here?"

"I've come to make you my mate Kagome."

"Mate? Kouga I don't want to be your mate."

"Don't be shy Kagome. Mutt face isn't around so you don't have to pretend you don't love me." He leaned in to capture her lips.

Kagome tried to escape but his hold on her hands prevented it. She squeezed her eyes shut and winced, "I don't love you, I love someone else!" She waited for his lips to touch hers and even as she tried to pull away she couldn't help but think that she'd rather kiss Sesshoumaru.

Sesshoumaru growled, 'How dare he.' He stepped up next to the wolf and with wase ripped him off of Kagome.

She felt his hands abruptly leave hers and her eyes snapped open. Kagome was face to face with an extremely angry Sesshoumaru. "Are you okay Sesshoumaru?"

He nodded. Sesshoumaru fixed his eyes on the wolf that was getting up. He growled a warning to Kouga.

"Who the hell do you think you are?!" Kouga balled his fists, ready to fight over Kagome.

Kagome didn't want a fight between them so she stepped forward. "Please Kouga calm down." She motioned to Sesshoumaru, "This is Inuyasha's half-brother Sesshoumaru."

Kouga stopped, "Sesshoumaru? That's sounds familiar, but why?"

Kagome smiled to herself, "This is Lord Sesshoumaru, Lord of the Western Lands."

Kouga paled, "Forgive me Lord Sesshoumaru I was unaware that you were persuing Kagome for a mate."

Sesshoumaru growled, "I am not persuing anyone for a mate. I am simply watching over my brother's wench."

All at once Kagome's mending heart shattered and tears formed in her eyes. She smiled sadly to herself at the cruelty of fate. kagome stepped away from Sesshoumaru and towards the well.

He smelt her tears, "Where are you going?"

Kagome didn't look up at Sesshoumaru as she sat on the edge of the well, "You don't have to worry, Inuyasha's wench is going home." She slid into the well without a look back.
