A creature called Love by Lady_Dark_Kitten

Getting here

Sesshoumaru laid under the tree his head pillowed on the fluffy thing that normally inhabits his shoulder. When he shifted fiery pain shot up his arm, he looked over to the bloody stump and frowned slightly. There was a time when he never thought he would have left a battle because he was wounded. He looked up into the tree branches and contemplated how he got here.

(flash back)

Thud, thud, thud! “Mother!” the Inu woman looked back to see her son careening her way she quickly shifted what she was doing and caught him. He pulled away and looked at her a huge ‘smile’ on his face his crimson eyes shining with triumph. The pup shifted to his humanoid form and the red receded to reveal honey colored eyes so deep you could get lost in them.

“Yes Sesshoumaru, what is it?” She asked in a cool manor, making his heart sink a little. He jumped to his feet as his father walked around the corner. Over his shoulder was slung a small panda bear, but it was bigger than Sesshoumaru and that’s all that counted.

“He had his first successful hunt.” Inu no tisho dropped the panda next to Shukujotakai, Sesshoumarus mother. Sesshoumaru puffed up with pride but when he looked at his mother, her face was somber and slightly bitter. “Your mother and I must talk Sesshoumaru,” a servant walked up next to the panda and picked it up. “Take that to the cook we’ll have it for dinner.” Sesshoumaru perked up and chased after the servant.

Later on at dinner Inu no tisho and Shukujotakai where so quiet that Sesshoumaru thought he was going to loose his mind. Finley Shukujotakai stood up and slowly left the dining room. Sesshoumaru watched his mother leave and for the first time in his life a frown graced his lips and his brow furrow wrinkling his lavender crescent. His father didn’t even flinch or look away from the wall where his eyes had settled. Sesshoumaru stood up and followed his mother, he shifted to his dog form once his feet where on the floor and chased after her.

When he finally found her she was sitting under her cherry tree, a wedding gift from Inu no tishos parents. Sesshoumaru slowed to a trot when she looked at him, her normally calm face and cool eyes where distorted in pain. Sesshoumaru sat next to her and shifted into a boy again.

“Mother?” she looked away and sniffled as she wiped her face on her sleeve in an unlady-like manor, she was actually very young some said she was too young to marry. Then again she wasn’t very lady like to begin with, she wore very masculine armor that showed very little of the fact she was female and her hair was never longer than the middle of her back. Even then it was completely tied back.

“You must go to bed Sesshoumaru it’s getting late.” Sesshoumaru saw a slight shine next to her. When he moved to peer at the reflected light he saw the hilt of a sword. Suddenly Shukujotakai pushed him back from the sight of the blade. Then she stood and walked away. One of the servants came and collected Sesshoumaru whisking him off to bed.

Once the servant left Sesshoumaru snuck out into the hall and creep to his parents’ room. By the time he got to their door that was left cracked they where screaming at each other. When he looked around the corner he saw Shukujotakai in Inu no tishos face just screaming at the top of her lungs. Sesshoumaru was simply mesmerized, he had never seen her angry she had always been calm and cool. He had heard things about her, reasons and very good ones as to why the meaning to her name, Lady Death, became her so.

She turned around and walked a few paces from her husband then she turned back around raising her sword. Inu no tishos face became more serious and he spoke to her but Sesshoumaru couldn’t hear his quiet words. Suddenly Shukujotakai lashed out with her sword. As the blade came down on Inu no tisho he dodged it and as Shukujotakai stepped forward to regain her balance Inu no tisho grabbed her wrist squeezing it causing her to let go of the sword. He snatched it out of the air and turned it on Shukujotakai almost killing her but he shifted the slice so that it was extremely painful.

Sesshoumaru tried to warn her as she started to draw her sword but his throat closed and his body froze. He couldn’t make a sound until it was done, by then it was a stream of obscenities that shouldn’t have come from his mouth. His parents both looked at him and Shukujotakai collapsed into a heap on the floor. As his father approached the door Sesshoumaru turned and tried to skitter away, the thought of such cowardice made him sick even then.

Before he could get away his father had slid the door open and snatched him up by the back of his sleeping clothes. His eyes narrowed to mere slits. Sesshoumaru blinked at his father as the man turned him around, Sesshoumaru could feel his shirt start to strain his airways.

“Why were you spying on your elders?” when Sesshoumaru tried to answer it came out as a small squeak as the remaining air in his lungs escaped. Inu no tisho set his son down and let the boy catch his breath before repeating his question. “Why where you spying on us?” he asked more harshly, now it was obvious to Sesshoumaru that Inu no tisho may not have been pained at almost killing Sesshoumarus mother but it pained him to know his son saw it. Sesshoumaru remembered taking a few deep breaths as he formed the thought.

“I… I saw mother with the sword and was curious. So I came here.” Sesshoumarus eyes locked with his fathers and the mans face softened.

“Go too bed we’ll discus this in the morning.” Sesshoumaru frowned and looked at his mother, who was bleeding heavily, as his father turned away.

“But…” Inu no tisho looked back and scowled.

“Go too bed.” He growled making Sesshoumaru eyes widen. As Inu no tisho shut the door Sesshoumaru turned away and trudged off to his room.

The next morning he learned that his father was sending his mother away demanding that Sesshoumaru be left with him. That was why she tried to kill his father, that’s why she almost died. For him. His father banished her to a place unknown to Sesshoumaru, a place Sesshoumaru couldn’t follow her.

Sesshoumaru shifted under his tree. He had finally stopped bleeding and he could only hope that Jaken wouldn’t find him until he was fully healed. The bushes next to him rustled dashing his hope of peace, but instead of Jaken like he had ‘feared’ it was a human girl.
