A White Rose by Raychel

A White Rose

A White Rose

There was once a woman, named Kagome, who was lonely in her life. She worked, she ate, she lived, but she didn't live. She wished she could have something more, something thrilling, something she could look forwards to when she drove home. She hated this lifestyle. When she had been younger, she had gone out, partying and messing around with her girlfriends. But now.. Work controlled her life, and she hated it.

When Kagome sat down on her brown leather sofa, reading her paper, she had finally had enough. Looking through the advertisements, she looked for something to occupy herself, bring something fun to her boring life. Her eyes found a small ad in the corner, and the electric blue orbs brightened while reading it;

'The ever growing battle in western Japan is getting overly worse for our dear men, and they all wish for something to sooth the emotional wounds of the fights and murders they are forced into. Think you can help? Write a letter to us, and we will forward it to your own, personal, army man. Write to...'

Kagome grabbed her notepad, and began to write, her hand gliding across the paper in quick, feminine writing.

Hello!

My name is Kagome Higurashi, and I am twenty-four years old. I live in central Japan, and I work for a historical museum focusing on Feudal Japan. I love to read books, mostly on demon myths and legends, and my favourite book is 'Through a Demons Eye', by InuYasha Hanyou. My favourite animal is a dog, mostly Siberian Huskies, (because of their adorable silver coat), and I really, really hate frogs. Slimy and horrible. My favourite colours are red and amber, and I love chocolate!

I really hate the war that's going on, and I hope you and all your friends aren't too badly wounded or hurt. I hear that stuff like that really gets to your head, making loads of people mentally insane! I hope that's not true for your regiment.

I really hope that you will write back, and I hope to hear from you soon!

With love,

Kagome Higurashi

Writing her address in the top corner, she finished, a perfect letter. Smiling, Kagome folded up her letter, and stuck it into a envelope. Writing the address of the company on the front, she stuck a stamp on it and rushed down the road, sticking the letter in the post-box. Grinning, she skipped back to her flat.

She couldn't wait for the reply.

At the company, Kouga Ookami opened Kagome's letter, read it, and grinned.

"Yep, I got the perfect guy for this young lady." Re-folding the letter, and sticking it in a new envelope, he scribbled a mans name of the front.

"Hey, Ginta! This one's got Regiment twelve, 'kay!"

"Rightie-ho, Kouga."

Kagome tiredly walked into her flat after a long day showing some people around the museum, and picked up her mail. Laying down on her sofa, she looked through the pile, throwing rubbish onto the floor.

"Bill... Bill... Ad.... Bill... B-Hey, wait a sec," Sitting up, Kagome examined the letter. There was her address, but the writing was perfect, every swirl and dot in its perfect place, nothing wrong. Eyes wide, she turned the letter round and opened it.

Dear Miss. Higurashi,

When I received your letter, I was not exactly thrilled. Personally, I did not think I needed a woman to help me through this-"

'Well I never!' Kagome thought to herself.

But after reading your entertaining letter, I found myself curious about you, and in such have written this reply.

My name is Sesshoumaru Tashio, in Regiment Twelve on in the eastern trenches. I am twenty-nine years old, and as you can most likely deduct, I am a solider, although I used to work for a business. I am also a fan of reading, and although I do not waste my time on reading about thinks that are false, I do, sometimes, read small novels about demon culture. I mostly read books about the first world war, based on true stores, or detective novels, like Sherlock Holmes. I am a particular fan or Dr. Watson.

It is rather peculiar, Miss. Higurashi, that we share the same favourite animals, and the same favourite colours. Although I do not believe in fate or anything of the sort, I do find this turn of events rather interesting. A private I know of, named Jaken, looks rather like a toad. This is most likely the reason I hate him so. Toads are rather disgusting, aren't they? I apologise, however. I detest chocolate, and anything like the sort.

My 'friends' and I are not wounded or injured in anyway, mentally or physically, though I feel I must thank you for your concern. Not many people would worry about someone they had never met. My ally, Miroku, sends his thanks as well. He says that your handwriting is beautiful. I must agree, myself.

I look forward to hearing from you soon, Miss Higurashi.

Yours sincerely,

Sesshoumaru Tashio.

Fingering the letter, Kagome smiled. This Sesshoumaru seemed nice, even if he was a little... odd. He seemed rather cold.

"Well, we'll soon fix that, won't we!" She said. Getting a pen and some paper, Kagome began her next letter.

Dear Sesshoumaru...

For the next eighteen months, Kagome and Sesshoumaru continuously wrote to each other, finding comfort in the words of their correspondent. Kagome became more outgoing and excitable, according to her friend Sango, and according to Miroku (who had forced Sesshoumaru to allow him to send one, teeny tiny letter to Kagome), Sesshoumaru had become warmer and less... aggressive.

Finally, after eighteen and a half months, the war was won by Sesshoumaru's side. Kagome was ecstatic, the little picture Sesshoumaru had sent her (In her purse at all times) came out more and more often as she got more and more excited to see him. Although she had refused to send Sesshoumaru a picture, yet, he didn't seem to mind, and had told her he also look forwards to seeing her.

They promised to meet in 'Le Bel Endroit', and as Sesshoumaru sat down at the reserved table, her read the last letter she had sent him again. It was short, but sweet.

Hey, Sesshou!

Now that you're back, how 'bout we meet up? Come to 'Le Bel Endroit' at eight o clock on Thursdays the seventeenth, 'kay? I'll be there, just look for a woman with A White Rose badge, okay?

See you soon!

Kags

And so, he was waiting for her, the woman that had affected him so. All his friends said he had changed, but had he? Somehow, he knew, he had fallen in love with this woman. Watching the doors, he saw a woman walk in. On her coat was a White Rose.

Looking at her, he swallowed. Her hair was dirty and horrible, and to put it plainly, she was horribly ugly. But, strangely enough, Sesshoumaru didn't really notice that. He knew the person she was on the inside, the beautiful, fabulous person. Rising, he walked over.

"Kagome?" He asked. The woman looked up, seemly ashamed.

"Sesshoumaru?" He nodded, and she smiled softly.

"Are you not disgusted by how I look, Sesshou?" She muttered. He shook his head, his hair falling over his shoulder.

"I love you for who you are Kagome, not what you look like. I love you, because of the person I know you are." The woman brightened immediately, and handed Sesshoumaru the rose. He looked at her, confused.

"Dear god, I was hoping you'd say that." She said running a hand through her dirty hair. Looking at her, confused, Sesshoumaru waited for her to elaborate.

"Oh! Right," The woman said cheerfully. "Well, I met this beautiful young girl outside, and she asked me to come in and look for a man called Sesshoumaru, right? Well, she said that if he was repulsed by my looks, and hated me for it, then to tell him he would never hear from her again," Sesshoumaru looked surprised, and worried slightly.

"But," The woman continued, and Sesshoumaru watched her intently. "If he said he loved me, even if I was ugly, then I was to give you that rose, and tell you she's waiting in a limo outside. Have fun!" walking away, the woman felt overly proud of herself. Sesshoumaru stared at the rose. She was a clever woman his Kagome.

And how he loved her.

Walking outside, Sesshoumaru attached the rose to his overcoat, and looked for the limo.

When Kagome saw him, she smiled.

She knew The White Rose would work.
