Chapter One: Hel..lo

Sesshoumaru sighed cussing his father for making him come here. Since his father couldn't go having to work, he wanted Sesshoumaru to greet the new neighbor.

His steps were measured as he walked up the steps of the estate and under the veranda. Even as he was walking toward the door, it seemed impossible to believe that his oldest friend Youko wouldn't be here. He'd been at his going away party, but this had been the first time in months that he came here since he left. The two had grown up together. Thinking of this place without him seemed strange.

Straighten his clothes he slides into the emotionless masked he greeted everyone with than knocked. He knew the new owner kept the same housekeeper Youko's family had and he knew the woman was slow so he knocked again. 'Maybe no ones home,' He thought

At the same time, the door swung inward. A female cleared her throat when he turned to her with the Housekeepers name on his lips.

But it wasn't Kaede who met him at the door.

Sesshoumaru stared at the woman In the doorway, then wiped a clawed hand across his face, certain that when he looked again, she would be gone. But still she was there, and he would have sworn he heard her breathing.

"Great Kami above," he whispered, but convinced he was losing his mind.

It was then the thought hit him that he might never have left home, or that he hadn't talked to his father, or slapped his half brother around a little. He hadn't showered or walked those few minutes between his home and here. He was still in his bed, sleeping. He knew, because this was the woman from his dreams.

Accepting the explanation, he moved forward.

"I have been missing you." He growled lustfully, and took her in his arms.

Kagome's shock at seeing this Youkai on her doorstep quickly turned into acceptance, than joy. The fates had been kind to her after all. But before she could speak, he took her into his arms and then kicked the door shut behind him. She heard him sigh, then felt the warmth of his breath against her neck. It was straight out of her dreams. But was she dreaming? Hadn't she been upstairs only moments ago? Surely she hadn't imagined mediating and practicing her powers.

Then Sesshoumaru's mouth devoured on her lips, and questions disappeared. All she could remember was how he made her come part in his arms, how lonely she'd been without him. Whether he was real or not, she didn't want this to end. She slid her arms around his neck and gave him back kiss for lonely kiss.

All the angrier and frustration, all the weariness that had been dogging Sesshoumaru's footsteps that morning, were gone in a heartbeat.

" Ah, Tennyo . . . where have you been? I've missed you."

The lustful growled, words sent chills down Kagome's spine. He'd missed her? But how? He'd been in her dreams, not she in his.

Then he put his clawed hands on her breast, cupping the fullness as if measuring them for fit. At that point she sighed, giving herself up to the inevitable as an intense longing surged through her. She wanted this even needed it. He'd become an addiction she didn't want to wake up.

"I've missed you, too," she said softly, then kissed him again.

Sesshoumaru lifts his head long enough to look around.

"Are you alone?"

She put a hand on his strip cheek. He felt the warmth of her skin against his face.

"Not anymore," she said, and took him by the hand.

They went up the stairs hand and hand, as if they'd done it a hundred times before– looking into each other's eyes, recognizing the need, remembering the power of their lovemaking.

Sesshoumaru couldn't take his gaze from her face. Never had the dream been so lifelike – so intense. He had not remembered how soft her skin was to the touch, or how the light shined in her eyes when she smiled. But he knew what it felt like to come inside her, and he wanted that bad –and he wanted it now.

Kagome led him to her room, and the moment the door closed behind them, they began taking off their clothes. The bedclothes were still in a tangle from last night's troubled sleep. Sesshoumaru swept them aside, tossing them to the foot of the bed as he pushed her backwards onto the silk sheet.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him down with her as she fell. When the weight of his body pressed her deeply into the softness of the mattress, she moaned, wanting him inside her just as deep.

"Hurry" she whispered.

A muscle jerked at the corner of Sesshoumaru's mouth. He was rock hard and hurting and knew just how she felt. Without foreplay, without so much as a kiss, he parted her legs with his knee and slid inside. She was hot and wet, and he was in danger of losing control. She moaned once–a low, guttural sound that raised that hair on the back of his neck. He was inside her–hard, pulsing, but motionless.

"Look at me" he growled

It took everything she had to focus on his demand, but she did it and lost herself in the reddish gold depths of his glaze. Only than did he begin to move, rocking against the cradle of her pelvis in hard, hungry strokes, with each thrust shoving her father toward the headboard until she was pinned. Kagome reached above her head, her fingers curling around the spindles as she held on, while riding the intensity of their lovemaking. The heat between them rising just as she'd known it would, churning and curling into a tight, hungry knot in the pit of her stomach. Then, suddenly, it began to crash.

"Oh . . . oh..oh Great Kami"

She didn't see his jaw clench as he struggled to maintain his control. At that moment, there was nothing that mattered except the rhythm of their bodies and the shattering climax that came upon her.

She screamed.

The sound tore through Sesshoumaru's head like a bullet, scattering his concentration. He shuddered, than loosed a loud roar, his body arching as he came. Wave after wave of unbearable ecstasy rolled through him, leaving him weak and shaking. Without waiting for it to ebb, he took her in his arms and rode the climax all the way down.

They both lay without moving, unable to think past the need to draw another breath. And even as the lust was passing. Sesshoumaru was already aware that this joining was different. He kept waiting for the dream to move forward–for the moment when he would wake with a start, then sit up in bed. Slowly, he raised himself on both elbows, easing the weight of his body from her, and as he did, he felt the heat of her breath against his face. At the moment a bead of sweat rolled out of his hairline and into his eyes. The saltiness of the moisture immediately burned his eyes, and as it did, he flinched.

"What the hell?"

Kagomes' smile turned to a frown.

"What's wrong?" she asked.

Sesshoumaru didn't answer. In fact, he couldn't answer. Instead he rolled off her, then to a sitting position at the side of the bed.

"Sesshoumaru?"

His heart skipped a beat. How did she know his name? In fact, why was he even hearing her voice? The dream had never been like this before. Gently, he lifted a damp strand of hair from her forehead, and as he did, he felt the silkiness of the dark hair against his finger. He knew he was staring, but he couldn't stop. He reached toward her, running the back of his clawed finger down the side of her face.

"Am I still dreaming?" he asked

Kagomes heart dropped.

"Have I been in your dreams?" she asked.

He nodded.

She sighed. "I suppose that's fair, since you've also been in mine."

He frowned and growled. "What the hell are you saying?"

"You come to me in my sleep." Kagomes' face flushed with embarrassment. "And then we make love. I feel you inside me, but I never hear you speak."

Sesshoumaru started to shake. "This . . . what we just did . . . we're still dreaming . . . right?"

"I don't think so."

He touched her face, then her hair, then her face again, running the ball of his thumb down her cheek, than across her full lips.

"You're real? This is real?"

Kagome nodded.

Sesshoumaru grabbed his clothes and started putting them on. The need to put something more than distance between them was suddenly of the upmost importance. When he picked up his shirt, he paused, then turned around, staring as if he'd seen a ghost.

"You came to me," he spoke low. "You walked into my bedroom every night . . . "

Kagome picked up where he left off. "...just after I went to sleep. One moment I'd be alone in my bed, and the next thing I knew, I'd feel you pulling back the covers, then . . . "

Sesshoumaru dropped his shirt onto the bed. "...I'd take you in arms and . . . "

Kagome finished the story. "...Make love to me."

He grabbed his shirt and quickly pulled it over his head.

"I don't know what to think. This is crazy."

Kagome wouldn't let herself think about how deeply the ugliness of that word last cut.

"I felt the same way last night when I saw you speaking to Kaede."

He blanched "You what?"

Kagome shrugged, then looked away, unwilling to see the disbelief on his face.

"I saw you through Kaede's eyes." she whispered Her holy powers flaring to life on her hands.

"You..ah, Kami..so that's how you.."

There was a long pause, but he didn't curse, he didn't laugh. In fact, if she'd known better, she would have sworn he'd just accepted her answer as gospel.

"So this isn't a dream?"

"No"

"And we have been making love to . . . no, dreaming of making love to each other for months?"

Kagome hesitated, then nodded.

"Kami," he growled softly, then took her in his arms.

His breath was warm against her face, his grip firm yet gentle. But it was the urgency in his voice that pulled at Kagome's conscience. What happened between than was startling, but not out of the realm of her beliefs. It was Sesshoumaru who looked as if he'd just been broadsided.

"You don't think it's . . . that I'm crazy?"

Sesshoumaru didn't realize until she spoke that he'd been holding his breath. He exhaled slowly, then cupped the side of her face.

"If it had not been for you I would have gone crazy this last year"

Kagome shuddered as he slowly traced the curve of her lower lip with his claw. She couldn't quit staring. He took her in she was a small woman at five foot four, she had to look up to meet his gaze. His hair was silver as moonlight as it draped over his arm brushing against her. His eyes golden with a hint of pink, his lips thin and soft she remembered feeling them against her own. His chin had something of a stubborn curve, and now she knew the sound of his voice as he came inside her.

"I quit dreaming of you after I left Edo," she said, then added, "I missed you."

Sesshoumaru's heartbeat stuttered as his mind went blank. Without asking, he knew she was referring to the fact that they'd been absent from each others dreams for several nights now. His ache was sudden and fierce, and while he was not a creature that took foolish chances, he could not have lied to her than he could have quit breathing.

"I missed you too," he growled nuzzling the top of her head.

Kagome sighed. His voice rumbled roughly through his chest where her cheek lay. She could feel he was rattled, but she had to give him credit for standing his ground.

"I knew we just met," Kagome said.

Sesshoumaru smiled. "Tennyo, what just happened between as wasn't a meeting. It was at least, a revelation."

Kagome blushed.

Sesshoumaru laid his cheek against the crown of her head again.

"I came to meet my new neighbor. I didn't know I would meet the woman who has been haunting my nights."

Kagome didn't know if haunting was good or bad.

"As you have mine,' she reminded him.

He put a clawed finger beneath her chin and tipped head back until they were looking eye to eye.

"How did this happen?"

"I don't know"

"If I was superstitious . . . "

Kagome flinched. "Are you?"

He smiled and shook his head.

"No"

"So?"

He brushed his mouth across the soft surface of her lips, then broke away with a groan.

"So . . . hello, Kagome Higurashi. It's very nice to meet you"

Kagome smiled.

"It's very nice to meet, too."

"Oh. Before I forget the real reason, I came . . . my father would like to invite you to a welcome to the neighborhood dinner tomorrow night. You are the guest of honor. Say you will come."

Kagome was floored and made no move to hide it.

"Are you serious?"

He frowned. "Hai. Why wouldn't I be?"

"Where I come from neighbors don't invite neighbors to dinner"

"Then, Tennyo, you have lived among fools"

"Tell your family I would be honored to come to dinner"

"If you would allow me, I will be your escort."

"And you don't think it strange that tody was our first meeting, Tomorrow will be, are first date, and we have been making love for months?"

He grinned. "Not only is it strange, it's a down right miracle. But, then, who am I to question the will of the gods?"

It was then that Kagome begun to believe her life was truly changing for the better. She couldn't go back to mediating or practicing for miko abilities after he left. And an hour later Kaede came home to the estate. If her parents could see her now. She smiled.
