Tame Me - Chapter 1

Kagome's grandpa has found an old house to do research on and the rest of the family ends up moving into an ancient house that belonged to Sesshoumaru thousands of years before. When Ji-chan started to tell her about the demon lord and his fatal fight against his half-brother, he never expected her to take any interest in it... or to seek proof of the legend. Kagome accidently awakens the slumbering demon lord and ends up with one sarcastic, too-mundane-to-actually-be-called-mundane, some-what bossy demon who sticks around for some unknown reason.

-

"Grandpa, can't you tell me about the house some other time?." Kagome asked as she continued to carry moving boxes into their new home, "All I want to do is get everything in as soon as possible."

"But Kagome, this house has hundreds, if not thousands, of years worth of mystery to be solved." He said as he walked empty-handed beside his oldest grandchild.

History of this, blah blah, history of that, blah blah. What's he going to tell me the history of next?

'Oh Kagome, have I ever told you the history of this teenie-tiny speck of dirt that I found on the table? It all started back when, blah blah.'

Blah, blah, blah. That is all he ever says. Not everything has history, you know.

Kagome thought this as she struggled to open the door with her free hand. She glanced over her shoulder at her grandfather with slightly narrowed eyes, "Can you help me please?"

He gave her an odd look, "But I am helping you. History is education and education helps you."

"Grandpa, just open the door!"

He finally gave in and opened it for her, but he never-the-less continued to talk about the house, not that she was listening to him or anything.

"Could you just help me carry boxes in before telling me all this useless information?" She asked and he looked a bit startled and with a sigh he said, "Because I love you so much I will help you carry in the boxes and tell you about this historical building and it's grounds during dinner."

'Great, now he's going to try to get me to fall asleep during dinner instead of while I'm carrying around stuff. I wonder if it's possible to eat when you're asleep...' Kagome thought with a frown.

They carried in the rest of the boxes, well Kagome did and Ji-chan opened the doors for her. Souta came and told them that dinner was done a while later.

Kagome followed her grandfather into the dining room and sat down at the table across from her mother and as soon as he sat down he started up again about the history of possibally the smelliest building in the world.

After a while Souta started to complain about the stories, "Where is the violence? The blood-shed and what not. C'mon Grandpa, tell us some interesting stuff."

He laughed and with a smile, "Well, there is one story about this place that you two might enjoy. It's a tragic love story of sorts." Before he could continue Souta pouted, "Bleh. Love, shmub." Kagome glared at him, "Shut-up and eat. I want to hear it."

This undoubtly made his day.

"Well, to start off I will tell you about the people that the story is about here. There was, of course, Sesshoumaru, the youkia who loved a human woman- I believe her name was Yuri- who was undoubtable a rare type of woman back then. He was the demon lord of the West, a leader whom had no fears. He is said to have been an odd warrior with his feminine looks and healing sword. Even so, many feared him and few dared to cross him.

Now then there is Yuri, the human the demon loved so dearly. She was not a brave human who did not fear the demons. No, she was a human who didn't acknowledge the difference. To her, both humans and demons were equals. That probably doesn't sound like much to us, today, but back then it made all the difference. That is the very difference that made people come to love her. That is the very difference that made a demon like Sesshoumaru love her. They say she was not the classic fairy-tale beauty. She was a peasant who found work at the lord's house and whom apparently remained on his black list for quite some time.

There was also Inuyasha, Sesshoumaru's younger half-brother, was related to him only their father. Inuyasha had always been jealous of his older half-brother, some say because of a feud they had when they were a bit younger, others because of Sesshoumaru's youkai status. As you know, siblings that do not get along like to ruin each other's life, so Inuyasha is naturally the one who brought such darkness upon this house."

He stopped and started to eat his dinner again.

"Grandpa, don't stop! Keep going." Kagome urged on, missing his triumphant smile.

"So now you want to hear the old coot's stories, aye Kagome?" He smiled, "Fine, fine, but only because I can't refuse you."

"Inuyasha tried everything to get Yuri to leave Sesshoumaru. At first he just wanted her to come to him because of his want to spite his half-brother, but then it became a game because she didn't go to him. Not once did she look at him without a look of pity on her face. Finally after a few years of trying to get her to leave his brother, he snapped. According to legend, on the day Sesshoumaru was going to propose to Yuri, Inuyasha kidnapped her. To where is unknown, but what is known is that Yuri was later found by Sesshoumaru in her bedroom, the tallest tower in the house. She had been dead long before, but demons had stated that they could smell the blood and tears for miles around."

"Is that all?" Kagome asked after she noticed how Ji-chan didn't look like he'd be saying anything anytime soon.

"Would you like to know what happened after she died?" He said will a look of pure joy on his face. She simply nodded.

"Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha fought almost to the death, stopping only because neither could continue fighting at the moment. Sesshoumaru had servents carry Yuri's body through the passages below the house and lay her out in the last room to sleep among the flowers for eternity. They say that when he regained his strength he went down to that very room to meditate what he should do. His sword was lost, misplaced by mischievious fingers. Before he could decide, the very sword he thought of was plunged into his back by his unloving half-brother."

Kagome sat mesmerized by the story, idly mixing her food with her chopsticks.

It's so sad. All he wanted was to be with her and it was ruined because of his selfish half-brother.

She hurridly finished her dinner and excused herself from the table to look around the old house that held such legendary stories in it's walls. She started walking down the corridors of the house, looking for anything unusal.

It's just too interesting to forget. I mean, all of those things happened in this house. It's all right here at my finger-tips, itching to be discovered. Not to mention how awesome it would be to be the first person to ever find proof of such things, especially the part about demons. Not many people believe there were ever such things.

When she reached the end of the corridor she was not pleased with the horrendious smell that was oozing out of everything in sight.

A window. Must find a window.

Kagome practically attacked the wooden shutters she found under inches of who-knows-what after a few minutes of clawing at the back wall. When she finally found the latch she yanked on it as hard as she could until it unlatched, letting her open the window. She was not at all pleased with the state of the backyard-type area. Weeds grew out of every possible place, vines wrapped themselves around various trees, and there seemed to be a great need of lawn mower.

This will need a lot of work...

She raced back into the kitchen and asked her mother for the gardening supplies that she had made sure to pack.

"The bag's in the pantry closet." Her mother responded as she continued to wash the dishes.

"Okay." She said as she went over to the pantry and opened the door. "Gardening, gardening, no on likes gardening," Kagome chanted as she walked into the pantry and started searching through various bags for anythign that resembled a cake cutter.

Heh. I'm sure Mom wouldn't mind me using her cake cutter just this one time. It's not like we have cake a lot or anything..

"Go Kagome, go Kagome." She said excitedly as she danced around in the small closet with the bag of gardening supplies.

"Ack!" She yelled as the floor dropped below her and the square of tile slid down a set of slippery stone steps.

'Ewww, what is that smell?' She thought to herself as she attempted almost unsuccesfully to get back to her feet, holding a hand over her nose the whole time. It was dark and after she took about two steps into the room she heard some soft creeks around her before there came pounding at the pantry door.

"Now isn't this just out of a horror film." She mused to herself. 'Humor can block fear. Humor can block out fear.' She repeated this to herself mentally as she felt around her for something to use to guide her. She finally found the wall, which she was not delighted to discover was slimey and cold. It sent shivers down her spine and convinced her to try to find a way out of the room quicker.

'I doubt that those steps are safe, so I might as well try to find another way out...' She thought as she reached the other side of the musty room. She didn't feel another door, instead when she walked forward she fell through the door frame and onto the ground.

"Ugh!" She whimpered as she hit the ground. It wasn't as hard as she had thought it would have been, but it was still very hard. As she climbed to her feet she caught a glimpse of somethign shiney in the room across from the one she was in.

"I wonder what's in that room." Kagome whispered as she sat back up. She pulled herself off the ground and started walking towards the light. As she walked she felt the ground sink at an angle , soon it was as deep as she could stand. She decided to jump as far as she could to get closer to her desitination, instead she found herself falling though yet another hole in the ground.

After a while she thought that there was no bottom to this pit, but when she hit the ground and felt the most painful thing she had ever in her sixteen years of living she knew that those never-ending ten seconds were not so never-ending.

"Stupid, crappy, old house with stupid, crappy, old holes in the stupid, crappy, old floors." I grumbled to myself as I attempted to nurse my knee. I glanced around, trying to find some way out of this crap-hole of a basement.

Wow, that's shiny.

I crawled towards the shiny thing, reaching my hand out in case a wall (or hole) decided to appear before me suddenly because this is a stupid, crappy, old house with stupid- Oh, we've gone through this one already...

When I finally reached the shiny thing and tried to touch it, I was repelled by the rank smell that was floating towards me. I covered my nose and mouth and tried to find the source. I heard metal rubbing slowly against metal and a soft squeeking noise that sounded kind of like mice.

I looked down at the place where the end of the shiny thing ended and could faintly see chains rapped around something. I bowed my head lower, trying to get a better look, and saw that the chains seemed to be wrapped around a body and the mouse-like noise was coming from small green bearded creatures that had cob-webs hanging from them. I stood up and grabbed the shiny thing, finding it to me a rusty sword and yanked on it hard, trying to pull it out so that I could shoo the creatures away.

I started poking the little creatures whom started to scurry away, and when I had gotten the last one the sword was ripped away from my grasps by some force and I was sent butt first towards the ground (not the first time today...)

She never hit the ground though, instead warmth engulfed her. When she dared to open her eyes she was staring into golden orbs and she took deep breaths. 'Humor blocks fear.' She opened her eyes and smiled, "Did you hear the joke about the fat woman that got stuck in a phone booth?" She watched as he blinked a few times, "Eh hehe? I guess you haven't. Well, you throw twinkies in the street and she'll go get them. Heh?"

He growled , but his gaze quickly went from Kagome's face to the door. Kagome's gaze followed his and there stood Ji-chan with some kind of ward in his hand. He started to mumble and it disappeared and when it reapeared it was on the creature's forehead. She stared at him and when she relized that he was frozen in place she struggled to free herself.

"Gee thanks gramndpa for getting a scary demon stuck to me." She said as she wiggled around some more. Suddenly his arms went limp and he came crashing down on her, "Ahh! He's going to eat me! Don't let him, Grandpa!" He snickered as he walked towards her, "He's under my spell. Now aren't you sorry?"

Kagome mumbled to herself and when she got out from under him she looked at his head, "Grandpa, that ward says 'New Years!' on it." He looked confused then said, "It has a different meaning. Wisdom you do not poses yet." She had a deadpan look on her face as she said, "And there is a dart in his neck. Like the ones Mom used to make Buyo unconcious for three days while we drove here."

"Oh, yes. I, uh, knew that." He said as he attempted to lift the demon off of the ground. "Don't break your back, Dad." Kagome's mother said as she appeared in the doorway.

"Go Mom! Thanks for getting him before he ate me." Kagome said, throwing her arms around her mother.

"That's what I'm here for. Anyways, lets get Mr. Demon situated." She smiled and helped her father lift up the heavy demon.

"Mom, we like, stole his house and you shot him with a dart. I don't think he'll appreciate that much." Kagome remarked, following her mother and grandfather to a room they had come from.

There were candles lighting the room that they stopped in, a bed against one wall and a carpet on the floor. It was kind of baren, but it was in a creepy, old basement. They pulled him onto the bed and left Kagome to get some more candles. Since Kagome was sure that if the demon awoke he really would try to eat her, they left the dart gun with her.

Kagome pulled the covers down to the foot of the bed and moved Sesshoumaru's limp body around until it was straight before pulling the covers back up and folding them over at his shoulders. She sat beside him on the bed until she heard voices and saw the light from the candles steadily get closer to her.

Her mother, Souta, and Ji-chan were carrying about fifteen candles in all, five on each tray they carried. They placed them on various tables around the room and hung a few on the hooks that were over the head of the bed. When they were done the room was lit well enough for Kagome to see everything in the room. They brought some more darts in and set them next to Kagome. "This is incase he wakes up and decides that he's going to be a meanie." Her mother said, letting Kagome know what they were for.

They left Kagome in the room and for the next couple of hours they silently filled the other rooms with candles so that she wouldn't get lost if she needed to get upstairs. They brought down a box of snacks for her to munch on until Souta would bring her down her food. Kagome sat alert in a chair near the bed and watched the demon's steady breathing. 'Up, down, up, down.' She thought as she watched his chest move up and down, 'Hehe, like that K-pop song Sango is always listening to.'

She looked at the vast space beside the demon, "Well, he is knocked out, it can't hurt to rest for a bit." She said this as she lay down beside the demon lord before closing her eyes and falling into a deep slumber.

- Kagome -

I awoke suddenly when breathing became hard for me. I could feel this throbing in my throat where pressure was starting to cut the circulation off.

"The twinkie joke won't work any better this time then it did last time, will it Sessh?" I choked out quietly as my eyes started to fill up with warm tears. They slowly began to spill over my eye lids and down my cheeks.

"What did you call me, you nasty little human?" He hissed out, his grip on my throat tightening with every word he spoke. This caused my mouth to open a little and a whimper played in my throat. All I could think about was how I was going to die now.

This is my life: I'm the cat. I cross the street. He is the car that kills me.
