How, in the midst of her short life, she had come to discover theories upon theories to the meaning of truly living. Tired of seeing everyone strive to sacrifice their happiness for others, Kagome finally seeks out to set things right for others. Slowly, but surely, Kagome's spirit and soul is breaking. That is, until someone came and picked up her broken pieces.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Written in memory of the person, whom I admire most, the one who faces her own worst fears and torment in silence, never tainting the happiness of others with her sorrow.

Written in hopes that one day, someone will be able to pick up the broken pieces of your heart and heal them until nothing but the age-old scars to remind you of your past.

May you find your inner peace and happiness.

[Chapter 1]

Silence.

Then a shattering of glass.

A scream filled with pain.

A pain symbolizing the fear and torment that resides within one's conscience.

'Why, or dear Gods, why?'

-------------

In her room, Kagome sat with her back against the wall, hugging her knees to her chest. Rocking slowly back and forth by applying force to the ground using the soles of her feet, not a sound or movement seemed much out of the ordinary.

Nothing except the glistening track of tears falling down her face.

No emotions were showed outwardly. It was as if she were in a trance and the water dripping towards the floor was rain fixated upon her face. The tears seemed rather out of place, especially when one looked around the room seemingly filled with such a warm aura.

Shattering of a broken vase came from below, shaking the misleading peaceful quietness.

Screaming proceeded. Screams of anguish and heartache.

Betrayal.

Kagome squeezed her eyes shut and plugged her hands into her ears, shaking her head from side to side, desperate in attempts to escape the noise.

'This can't be happening. It's just not possible.'

Her once pacified face now scrunched up, reflecting the pain and turmoil going on within her pondering mind. Everything seemed, well, wrong.

Growing up, Kagome always basked in the strength and love of her family and friends. She had everything that a young child could ask for. Tons of friends, a home, a pesky little brother, a few scattered admirers here and there, good grades, an eccentric grandfather, a healthy body, loving parents…

'Huh, yeah, sure. Dream on Kagome'

Downstairs, the fight-off between her father and mother raged on. Furniture smashed against the walls and floor. Nothing in the way stood a chance of surviving.

It wasn't always like this. There was a time where Kagome knew Heaven only too well. Her parents would never even dream of ever raising their tempers at each other, much less their hands. Her parents never fought, they had everything they wanted: family, money, love. They were in love with their family, with each other.

'If only it stayed like that'

Not long ago, her father was laid off. He came home, pride broken. He was supposed to be one of the best ever. How could he have been fired?

'But he was. And it seemed, that was all that mattered.'

After he was fired, he was devastated. It seemed that not even his family could bring him to smile. The children he once loved and spent hours laughing with were now tossed aside without a single thought. He was trapped, trapped within his own self-pity.

But that wasn't the worst of it.

After withdrawing his love and attention to his family, he seemed to wallow deeper and deeper into self-misery. Nothing seemed to be able to bring him out of his depression. However, one day, he seemed to get better and actually started to talk with the family at dinnertime again. Though not exactly a conversation, it still brought hope to the once tight and loving family member.

'Hah, how ironic'

True, Kagome's father seemed to have pulled out of his Great Depression, but he had yet to regain his position as a loving father and husband. He started going out late at night with his friends to party, spending more and more money each night. Where he went, the family only hoped would help bring back their beloved patriarch. Alas, it was not meant to be.

Pretty soon, her father's enormous spending on "fun" took away all their life's savings. It came out as a huge shock to everyone. Who would have though the once responsible, caring man would use the family's savings to party around?

Kagome's eyes shifted towards the ground as she recollected the events. She was just a young teenager then. Nothing prepared her for what was about to come. After her mother discovered that their father spent all their money, she went into hysterics. Where they were once open, loving family now stood a torn marriage and father-forsaken children. Where they were once rich, they were now poor.

A loud bashing sound brought Kagome out of her train of thoughts. She sighed as she realized it was just another casualty of her parent's heated arguments about money. They seemed to be plummeting dangerously towards debt. They needed money, and fast. However, her father still refused to go find work, instead he just sat around spending all of the money in the house that he could get his hands on. Kagome felt her heart wrench painfully, trying to forget all the terrible memories and situations that they were in.

Kagome shook her head violently. "No! Stop bothering me! Get out of my head!"

But it was no use. Tears streamed down her face as she remembered her mother's appearance when she came home. Her mother's once soft hands are now chaffed and cut from washing dishes at a nearby restaurant since she does not have the requirements suited for office work. Her eyes had bags under them and her once beautiful face was marred with tear streaks and suspicious looking liquid that looked awfully like she was spit at. She couldn't bring herself to accept the fact that her once powerful, beautiful mother was now considered scum on the dirt pavement. And her grandfather, who was once respected as the high priest of his temple, was now jeered at as the "crazy old man". Her brother, oh dear, her brother was beaten up in school, taunted and faced both physical and oral abuse. Frustrated tears streamed down Kagome's face as she stifled angry sobs threatening to break loose.

As another string of insults were shouted across the house downstairs, Kagome finally lost her self-control and stormed out of the house into the pouring rain, drowning her sorrows in mingled tears of heaven and human.

Author’s Note:

Hey you all=) I’ve slightly revised this first chapter and I’ve deleted the second chapter. This is because I’ve decided to change the plot lines a bit. It is going to be an AU fanfic. It will still be Sesshoumaru/Kagome, just taking place in the modern world.

I would like to take time to inform my readers that the tittle is actually taken from musical terms. Not Italian directly, but musical terms are derived from it. However, I’m solely basing it on music, therefore it will not match though "al" should be "alla" because it is feminine. Or supposedly some Italian reader at mm.org told me. It probably should cuz I do remember Mozart’s "Alla [something]" However, I’ve just simply put two commonly seen terms together, "affettuoso" meaning tender, and "al fine" meaning to the end, musically interpreted ofcourse.

This fanfic has really little reviews, as does my other fanfics. I think it is because I don’t update enough. The other fanfics when I update daily get tons of reviews, though they sucked. I’m sorry though, but high school is going to bring my free time down. I will try though.

[Please review. I’d appreciate it.]
