If I give you my soul, will you lend me your heart?
Sesshoumaru watched with a silent awe as he saw the young maiden step out of the pool of crystal water, completely enveloped in the quickly dissipating fog. He couldn't help but feel a slight arousal at the curve of her breast as she reached for a towel; however, he also couldn't help but chastise himself for feeling this towards... a human. His brother's wench. His undeserving brother's wench. She had a lovely name though. Sesshoumaru had never heard such a name before. It seemed to roll from his mind as he knew it would roll from his tongue if he were to allow it.
Kagome.
Sesshoumaru knew that this was beneath him, spying on a human, staring at her, dreaming of her, longing for her, but if he wanted to stop, he couldn't. He was an addict and she was the drug. Pure and simple. He craved her, body and soul. He wanted her. For forever.
Kagome sighed and sat up, now dried off. She stared at the moon with dreamy, half-closed eyes.
Sesshoumaru smiled lightly as he watched her, feeling the pleasure radiate off of her in immense amounts. He was happy just watching her, wanting her. He remembered the first time he had seen her, like this. Truthfully. The first time he saw her, he was preoccupied with unimportant things, the Tetsugia and his half-brother. But when he saw her, really saw her, for the first time, she had looked up at him with tear filled eyes. For him.
Flashback...
Sesshoumaru sat in the middle of the final battle field with blood covering his claws. Most of which was his. His blood, shed to kill the damned half-breed Naraku.
But one scent could be clearly deciphered. The scent of sakura. A creamy sakura. Untainted with the blood and evil vibrating from the very air. Sesshoumaru knew even his scent was masked by the ill scent. He looked up from his mortally damaged place on the ground, trying to hold his wounds shut, at the creature that was now considered a threat. If shock ruled his emotions, he allowed none to see it. Because there, standing shaking, crying, and clutching a pure jewel to her chest was a single blood soaked miko.
Sesshoumaru growled out a feral warning, half-heartily though it was. But that didn't stop her. Kagome walked, one shaky step at a time, until she was merely an arms length away from him. Sesshoumaru allowed his eyes to glaze over with a slight red, a final, desperate warning that he couldn't be held accountable for what he did, and Kagome stared back at him with eyes over filling with tears, and a calming smile on her face. She reached up tentatively and touched the stump where a strong arm had once been.
"This was my fault, wasn't it?" Kagome asked, not expecting an answer. Sesshoumaru's growling continued, though at a higher frequency, a frequency where Kagome couldn't hear it. It was no longer a warning to her, but a warning to whatever demons happened to be lurking nearby like starving vultures.
Kagome tentatively passed her hand over the deformation and imagined what it must have been like. To have two arms, all his own, and to have one stolen from him by a man he hated. She imagined what the missing arm must have looked like, five shining claws, ready to bring death should the occasion call for it. Two stripes, his birthmarks and title rights. Kagome hummed slightly as she allowed the healing energy to pour out of her body and in to his. A spell song fell from her lips the language that of the earths. "Vin tai, alotimose, en by ho ai, senerane. Um pai on, un dia on, en by ho ai, senerane."
Sesshoumaru felt the blinding purifying energy pull into him, threatening to steal his demonhood, but calmingly whispering reassuring words to him. He felt calm, loved, things he hadn't felt since the last butterfly kiss his mother had left on his cheek as a pup. He wanted to cry out in anguish as the energy entered him, and the feeling only increased a thousand folds when it left him, but it did not leave without its souvenirs. For when he opened his eyes, Kagome was standing a few paces away from him. He looked down at his arm, where her gaze was fixated. There was his arm; perfect as the day it was made. And, as another added bonus, all of his wounds were healed.
"Why did you do that!?" Sesshoumaru growled out loudly as she turned away. "Why did you return what was lost?! I could kill you now in a heart beat and never think twice about it!" Sesshoumaru growled out at her loudly, acting out of character, but not minding as he threw his little tantrum.
Kagome paused, and turned slowly to face him. He stared painfully at her as he saw red tears trim her pale face, lit only by the waning moon. "Will you?" She asked as she turned her gaze to a shattered well, one of the many casualties of the ill-begotten jewel that sat innocently in her hand, a perfect gem. Just like her.
"Nani-ka?" Sesshoumaru asked, breathtaken by her beauty.
Kagome turned back at him, and in her eyes he saw the deaths of everyone in the long battle for the jewel. The countless who had died, innocently or fighting for the jewel, Sango, Shippo, Miroku, Kikyo, Rin, Jaken, Kouga, Kagura, Kanna, and yes, even the hanyou. The all sat in their final positions. Miroku, sheltering Sango and Shippo with his untainted arm as Sango held Shippo in her arms. Inuyasha, Reaching out for the jewel that had been lying innocently on the ground, Kikyo, bow strung and ready to fire, Rin, hiding Jaken behind her as she wailed out for Sesshoumaru wordlessly, Kagura, smiling in a nearby tree with Kanna wrapped in her arms, knowing that her demise was finally here.
Kirere, Kagome, and Sesshoumaru seemed to be the only ones who survived the final blast that killed the demon. The pure energy that had frozen time and space forever. The blast that had come from Kagome's body.
Kagome smiled through her blood-tears as Kirere leapt to her shoulder, healed as soon as she touched the miko's flesh, which was showing a great deal more than usual, since her clothes had been ripped when the force of the pure energy left her body.
"Nani-ka?" Sesshoumaru repeated.
"Would you kill me?" Kagome asked with a smile. " You owe me a favor, do you not? Since I saved yours, would you be so kind as to take mine away?"
Sesshoumaru stared at the woman as if she had gone mad. Kagome smiled knowingly. "My way home is destroyed, as is my nearby village. The forest is burning, and soon it wont be here either. All of my friends are waiting for me on the other side. Please, allow me to die." Kagome whispered so faintly that even with his sensitive demon ears he almost missed the words of fatality.
Sesshoumaru looked indecisive, knowing that he did owe her for saving his life, yet for some strange reason, not wanting her to leave his side. His beast was awakening, and he knew that he would soon crave this girl.
Kagome must have seen the indecision on his face, no matter how hard he tried to hide it, for she walked up to him and gently picked up his new arm. She held it, smiling sadly for a moment longer, before she let all emotion slip from her face as she held the acidic claws to her throat. "I can't kill myself, that's not possible. Could you be so kind as to do it for me?"
Kagome's smile returned as she looked down at him. "No, you couldn't do that for me, could you, Sesshoumaru-sama." She said respectfully as she turned and walked towards the waning moon, the opposite of his waxing. His yin. Her yang. Two halves that fit together perfectly, complimenting each other. His koi. His Renai...
End flashback...
Kagome suddenly looked up, as if she were an animal sensing a predator nearby. "Kirere!" She cried out to the cat demon as she threw on her clothes.
Kirere emerged from the forest quick as an arrow in battle form, ready to defend her new mistress till her death. And should Kagome die, the last memory of her old life, Kirere would die to. Follow her to the grave and hope to be born again with the honor of serving such a loving woman.
"Who's there?" Kagome demanded as she pointed her bow in to the forest. Sesshoumaru stifled a chuckle. Yes, she may be beautiful, yes, she may be his other half, and yes, she may have destroyed Naraku and began to build a new style of architecture around the old well, but she still had a thing or two to learn about attacking.
Then, as if his silent laugh had given him away, her bow was pointing at him menacingly. Showing him her face of death, she called out to him. "Demon, be gone! I will give you nothing you seek here. If you wish to keep your life, leave my village now!" She commanded with the power of a demoness.
Sesshoumaru allowed the chuckle to rise out of his throat as he left Kagome to finish her bath alone. But he would be there when she ate dinner, he would be there when she went to bed, he would protect her as she slept, and he would watch with joy as she awoke to the crisp morning air, taking in her first breaths of the new day as if they were her first breaths of life. Yes, he would be there, content to be silent as he watched her and loved her from a distance, content to hope that she notice someday, and then, then he would bask in her love forever.
Because what she didn't know was that when she healed him, she bound him to her. She would live as long as he would. So that was as long as they had. Forever.

Anonymous Fangirl-
Okay, I know that this could so totally be more than a one shot, but it's been sitting in my folder called "Get to work on these stories you stupid bitch or so help me god you will have so many death threats you won't know what to do with them" for so long that I have two choices- publish it as a one shot or delete it. I think that for now, it will just be a one shot.
