Hijack the Sun by Raeanna Red Roses

Hijack the Sun

Short and sweet! Inspired by a misheard lyric from the Tori Amos song, "Marys of the Sea.," I don't know where exactly I thought I was going with this, but hopefully it was somewhere good!

Also, there is a lemon, but it's not very graphic. I didn't put notices before or after it, because while you know what they're doing, I'm not so sure it's even a sex scene, really, but you have been warned. Lemony content, so don't flame me; you've been warned.

Disclaimer: I don't own anything, so don't sue me unless you want a few old coffee mugs and socks. Lots and lots of socks.

Hijack the Sun

As she threw herself into the well, Kagome knew that Inuyasha wasn't expecting her back for two days, but then again, he wasn't the one she was going to visit. She didn't take anything with her, just jumped in and let the light envelop her.

She thought about him, his silver hair, his fair complexion, and how their relationship had started in the first place. She passed between the eras and let her mind drift.

:::Flashback:::

Kagome hadn't been doing anything unusual, just bathing, when she sensed the demonic aura rushing towards her. Ducking low in the water, she looked at the edge of the hot spring to see feet clad in black shoes, and legs covered in white silk, and gulped, hoping and praying that it wasn't the ice prince himself.

"Miko," the cold, flat voice said.

She was wrong.

"Lord Sesshoumaru," she said, crossing her arms over her chest and standing, letting him know that she wasn't afraid to face him, even like this. The redness of her cheeks, however, said otherwise.

"Where is my brother?" he asked.

"Back at the campsite," Kagome answered, knowing that if he wanted to kill her, he would have done it already. No, it appeared that he wanted nothing more than to talk. "Why?" Sesshoumaru said nothing at first, but instead sat down and watched her. "What?" she said, unconsciously sinking back into the water and glaring at him. She felt even more naked under that stare than she really was, if that was possible. It felt like he was peeling back her flesh and looking at some secret, sacred part of her that she didn't want to share, but he was merely looking at her.

"He has given up on the undead miko," Sesshoumaru said. Normally, this kind of news would have shocked Kagome, but she knew this already.

"Yeah, I know," she said. Sesshoumaru raised a silver eyebrow at her. Kagome sighed.

This was probably the longest conversation she'd ever had with the demon lord, and this was probably the closest he would come to asking her the question she knew he wanted to ask--"what?"

"He told me the other night," she said. "The night it happened, he said that he would try to defeat Naraku, but not for her sake, but for the sake of his friends. He said... he said he did not love her anymore." The look in Kagome's eyes told Sesshoumaru that she was miles away, though she was still in front of him. He looked at the nearly complete Shikon no Tama hanging on the silver chain around her neck. Her hair floated in the water like a dark cloud around her shoulders, and her skin seemed to be glowing.

"What of you?" he said simply, his voice loosing the cold, hard edge to it. He seemed almost curious, but she couldn't exactly tell what a curious Sesshoumaru sounded like, so she merely guessed.

Kagome shook her head.

"Nothing changes," she said. "He and I are friends... just friends." She looked at him then, not hearing knocking of an opportunity. His golden eyes met her blue ones, looking almost misty with their hints of gray. He watched her as she kept speaking, and she hardly broke eye contact with him. "I don't want anything more. He's too much of a friend, and I wouldn't sever that bond for anything. We'll always be friends, and we know that's all we'll ever be." Sesshoumaru just looked at her.

She spoke the truth, that he knew, but why he was so pleased by this, he didn't know. He was his father's son, and in more ways than one.

"And he does not desire you?" his question was plain, and made Kagome color slightly.

"Uh... I... I don't think so, no," she said. She wasn't used to such blunt questions, but judging by the look Sesshoumaru was giving her, he was asking something more.

"You are of age," he began, "and I came here to ask for your permission to court you." If Kagome had ever been more shocked, she didn't know when. This was the last question she had ever expected the demon lord to ask her, of all people.

"Me? Why me? Why not a demoness?" Kagome squeaked. "Why me?" The Western Lord leaned forward, his face less than two feet from her own.

"Because I have never met anyone like you, and I do not think I ever will," he said. "You are warm and you are honest in a time of lies and uncertainty. You are..." he seemed to have run out of words, but then he said something that meant worlds to Kagome. "You are one of a kind." After years of being compared to Kikyou, of being told that she was just a copy, it was nice to be told that she was special. She felt real. She felt like Kagome.

"Thank you," she said, her voice a bare whisper. "Turn around, please," her voice was a little louder this time, and Sesshoumaru did as she asked. When he turned back to face her, he could smell her clean smell, one of flowers and something warm and sweet. She was wearing something normal, for a change.

Kagome sat next to him, her wet hair hanging in a loose braid down her back. The yellow kimono and a slanted line of white down it, starting at the edge of the right sleeve and going down the length of the kimono. The obi was a medium blue with violet around the edges, and she reminded him of summer.

"For these past few years, I didn't think you were capable of feeling," she said, but her words were not meant to wound. She turned her face to his. "I'm glad to see that I was wrong." She leaned forward and pressed a soft and chaste kiss to his lips. She was more nervous than she had ever been, and she could feel her body shaking. He set a hand on her arm, but made no further moves unless he was sure they were welcome. When she leaned back, something new swirled in those eyes of hers. "You have my permission, Lord Sesshoumaru," she said. He smiled a rare smile, one meant just for her.

:::End Flashback:::

Kagome ran barefooted across the grass in the opposite direction she usually went. Her hair flew unbound behind her, and she felt the breeze playing with the hem of her kimono. She discovered that Sesshoumaru rather liked her in the clothing of the era, even if he had hinted that he would like her more out of it. She reached the crest of the hill he had asked to her to meet him on a few minutes later, but he wasn't there yet. She waited, and waited, and waited. She was about to sit when arms snaked around her waist from behind. She felt Sesshoumaru kiss the side of her neck and give her a soft squeeze. She giggled and crossed her arms over his.

"Hi," she said.

"Be my mate," was his response. A delicious shiver danced up her spine. Her chest rose more rapidly, and her breath caught in her throat. It rose in a sharp gasp as she felt his fangs brush the sensitive flesh of her neck.

"Oh... I..." his teeth pressed harder before he darted out his tongue, licking the area almost as if he was apologizing. "I want to."

"Then say yes," Sesshoumaru whispered in her ear.

"Yes," she said. He kissed her ear and pulled her close against him.

"I will not force you to do nothing you are not ready for, and I will wait for this quest to end, if you wish," he said. He leaned his head against hers as he spoke, just loving the feeling of being near her. In their short time together, only a few months, he had gotten to know more about Kagome Higurashi than anyone else, and in doing so, had gained a great amount of respect for her.

"Thank you," she said. She had been thinking about would she want to wait, and had recently decided that, "but I don't want to wait for this to be over. I want to something to look forward to when this is over." Sesshoumaru nipped her neck and picked her up, only to lay her down on the grass.

He moved his hands around her waist to pull gently on the obi, and asked a question without using words. She nodded, and he had it off in an instant. He kissed the spot between her collarbones before placing a deeper, more passionate kiss to her lips. Kagome reached up to tangle her hands in his hair. She loved the way he kissed her, she loved the way he touched her, and she loved that he had wanted to get to know her. Sesshoumaru swallowed her gasp when he moved his hands beneath her kimono to run them gently over her breasts. He positioned himself over her so that one of his legs was on either side of her, and that her legs were wrapped around his waist. It was a wonderful but cruel imitation of what he hoped they would be doing later.

"Off," she said, her voice a little huskier than before. She was tugging on the sash around his waist, demanding that he undress as well.

It is one thing to be naked in front of someone you love, but to be naked in front of someone you desire is a rather different, erotic, and beautiful thing.

Sesshoumaru touched her everywhere that she wanted to be touched. He was gentle and he was patient. He apologized for hurting her but gave her the release they both needed. They were a tangle of limbs, an expanse of skin and silver, hands and mouths and eyes. Kagome arched against his questing hands, and Sesshoumaru gave into his need for her.

Sesshoumaru wanted to make love to her body all night, to show her and let her feel just how much he loved and needed her, but he knew that this was her first time, and while she might be feeling only pleasure at the moment, she would pay for it when she woke.

He settled instead for curling up with her body tucked against his. She had a smile on her face and her head was tucked beneath his chin. Sesshoumaru covered them with his haori, and kissed the spot where her neck and shoulder met; the spot where he had marked her as his mate. He knew that while she was human, she was a beautiful, strong woman, and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. With their blood mixed, Kagome would live as long as he did, and their deaths would be close together.

He felt her breathing even out, and as the first few stars flashed into existence, a happy growl rumbled in his chest. He ran his claws lightly over her back, content with life for the first time in a long time.

The End.

Yeah, it wasn't that good, but hey, it was fun! R, r & r. =^ ^=
