Prologue

Forward: Hello everybody! Now before I get onto the story I must warn you that this is a one-shot fan fiction. And that if I have used some of the stuff in other peoples storied I would like to apologize. I do not read fan fictions and I have heard these are popular ideas, so I am sorry.

And it would be much appreciated if you would review this, and I will be posting the second chapter tonight...well technically this morning. It might be a little short though, so consider yourself warned. XD

The Sadist and the Masochist.

Prologue:

Kagome glared at the person in front of her. Her long black bangs covered her stormy blue-violet eyes. Small delicate fingers were clutched angrily at her sides, her knuckles white from the force of it. Her plump lips were turned down in a slight frown, marring her beauty not a bit. Under her bangs her right eye slowly began to twitch in irritation.

"Where is he?" She no more asked as commanded it from her companions.

"Now, now Kagome. Take it easy." Mirouku held up his hands in a defensive gesture. "He'll be back soon I am sure." He started to slowly back away from her, hoping that she wouldn't suddenly lash out at him. But that was the exact opposite off what he got.

Suddenly Kagome fell to her knees, sobbing as if in terrible agony.

"How dare he do this to me!" She cried out angrily, knowing that despite all his actions against her she could never hate him, and would always forgive him for any pain he inflicted towards her. It was almost like she wanted it, like asked for it repeatedly.

Kagome knew perfectly well where Inu Yasha could be found. He had been looking impatient and moody all day. Kikyou, could been easily read on his face. Everyone knew that he was thinking of her; that he could smell her; that he wanted to go to her. And he simply went.

For some reason Kagome could sense that she had lost Inu Yasha forever to the walking corpse of the once powerful Miko. Today would be the last day they would be separated, today was the day Inu Yasha would finally give in and follow Kikyou to hell. After all, the Shikon no Tama has been completed and Naraku dead.

Glancing up, Kagome saw that her friends had left her in peace to grieve. She sobbed once more before collapsing onto her side and just holding herself there. Her eyes clenched shut and her face showing the pain clearly written there.

When night finally came around, Kagome was ready to face him before he left. She knew that he was still there for she felt that tight bond that had formed over the four years they had traveled together. Clenching her heart, she stood up and staggered in the direction of the God Tree.

It wasn't long before she saw the old tree, and in front of it an embracing couple.

"Inu Yasha," She breathed into the wind, causing the hanyou to glance up. Their eyes met and she saw the apology in his eyes. Hesitantly she nodded in understanding forgiving him once more for the pain he caused her.

"Kagome-" He whispered her name on the wind. Kikyou looked up to see her standing there, watching them.

Slowly the woman gave a small smile and nodded her head in acknowledgment of the words she knew that Inu Yasha and her had to say to each other.

"I will be waiting for you." The Dead Miko told Inu Yasha before turning and walking silently away from them.

As soon as the woman was gone, Inu Yasha approached her. They were standing only inches away when Inu Yasha muttered her name once more. Without wanting them to, Kagome's eyes filled with tears and spilled over, making tracks down her cheeks. Slowly she smiled.

"I am happy for you Inu Yasha, even if it hurts me so." Her smile grew bigger.

"Kagome-" Without warning he took another step forward and took her into his arms. Kagome remained stiff and refused to place her arms around him in return. The hanyou took a step away, hurt evident in his amber eyes.

When he stepped away, Kagome reached into her jeans pocket and grabbed something. Holding it in a fist she regarded her calloused hands for one moment, before holding out her fist. Reluctantly Inu Yasha held out a hand, ready to take what ever she wanted to give him. Taking a deep breath Kagome opened her fist and dropped a small pink jewel into his hand.

"For you to do as you wish." Inu Yasha stared at the Shikon no Tama in pure shock. Looking up at her he closed his fist and nodded his head in understanding.

"So be it, I thank you for it, Kagome." He said her name caressingly. His eyes shone with love, but with love of that of a sister and not a lover.

Kagome nodded jerkily then stepped back away from him.

"Well see you later Inu Yasha." She smiled, tears still making tracks down her pale cheeks. Then she turned and ran away from him, not even daring to look back as he watched her leave him forever.

Inu Yasha looked down at the small jewel in his hand, finding it hard to believe that something so small could carry such great amounts of power in it. He closed his fist and looked in the direction that Kagome had ran away, her scent of vanilla and roses fading away already.

"Thank you so very much." He whispered.

Smiling he thought back to how he had first met her. For the first few years he couldn't help but compare her to his beloved Kikyou. But now, looking back, he realized they are totally two different people. They may be similar in appearance, but the subtle differences he had seen before screamed out at him now.

Kagome had eyes so blue they almost looked violet, where as Kikyou has chocolate brown eyes. Kagome's hair is black and shone a deep blue in the sunlight, while his love's was dark brown that shone a lighter brown. Despite that Kagome has reached an older age, her body was still growing and maturing. Kikyou's was already matured she was a grown woman.

Gentle, kind, loving, selfless, passionate and moody, could easily describe Kagome, an easier specimen to figure out. Where as Kikyou was an enigma, hard to figure out and many different sides to her personality. Over all, he loved Kikyou more.

Seeing Kikyou's priestess outfit clearly against the horizon his thoughts traveled to a time where he believed he was in love with Kagome as well. But now he could only see her as a sister he holds dearly to his heart, and that was the reason he was never able to tell her his feelings towards her. Inu Yasha had thought that it would destroy her, but obviously it hadn't. It had made her into a stronger person.

Walking to Kikyou' s meeting place he stopped before the old wooden well. Knowing that his love's eyes were on him, he looked up at her and smiled.

"All went well?" She asked casually, the hate no longer evident in her chocolate brown eyes.

"Yes." Inu Yasha answered in reply. He tightened his grip on the Jewel of Four Souls.

Kagome... I know why you gave me this Jewel, but I do not deserve the wish. The hanyou smiled, you deserve it.

He sighed, knowing naught what to give the woman that was almost an exact replica of his love. I know! I will give her my wish. He knew that that might be not exactly what she would want, but he knew of nothing else he could wish for her to have.

"Inu Yasha, what are you doing?" Kikyou asked curiously.

"I am giving Kagome what she deserves." He smiled then made the wish without another thought.

Kagome stopped dead in her tracks, and bent over in pain. She let out a cry of agony and sunk down to her knees. Tears formed in her eyes once more, but did not shed. Bending over in pure pain she grabbed herself around her waist. It felt like someone was ripping her intestines out of her.

"Oh God," She whispered, almost feeling the DNA changing, along with her genes.

"What's happening to me?" She asked through clenched teeth. She gasped as the pain intensified almost doubly so, and it wasn't long after that she blacked out.

It felt like centuries to her with the never-ending darkness that showed her neither images or thoughts, before she finally woke up and was greeted by the faces of her worried and concerned friends. But in reality it had been but two days.

"W-what happened?" She asked, still a little groggy from sleep. Her friends exchanged glances before even attempting to give her an answer.

"Well Kagome," Mirouku started,

"Don't freak out!" Sango added in.

"But you- ah- changed a little bit." He visibly winced.

Kagome looked at them as if they had grown three heads and eight arms.

"What!? Just spit it out already." She told them angrily, quickly losing her temper.

"Well-ah- You kind of- " He trailed off searching for the right word.

"Changed." Sango interjected. Kagome raised one delicate eyebrow in question. Sango sighed, feeling irritated.

"Just look at your hair."

Hesitantly Kagome sat up, amazingly without any pain. Reaching back she carefully selected a small piece of her soft hair and moved it over her shoulder so that she could get a good glimpse at it. What she saw made her exclaim in wonder.

Her once black hair had turned a dark silvery blue color. Kagome glanced up at her friends with wide startled eyes.

"Look at your hands." Mirouku commented casually. Glancing down, Kagome saw that her once small stubbing nails have grown long and ended at a point. Like claws. Looking at the back of her hand she saw that it was now adorned with two midnight blue stripes.

Gulping, she looked from them to her friends and then back down to her hands once more. Kagome lifted one and carefully placed the nail to her wrist. Without a second thought, she drew it across her skin, neatly cutting it open. She gasped when she felt something inside of her stir at the pain, it made her want something, but what she knew naught. Then she realized what it was... It turned her on.

Shaking her head and blinking her eyes a couple of times, she turned her attention back to her wrist. The cut was healed over. Her brows furrowed in thought, she turned to Mirouku and opened her mouth to say something but stopped and closed it again. A couple second later she tried again but with the same results. She sighed, and spoke hesitantly,

"Mirouku, what have I become?" Her voice quavered a bit.

Mirouku frowned, not really wanting to answer her question. But a few seconds later he answered it none the less,

"Kagome you have become a Youkai," he paused and chewed on his bottom lip thinking of what to say next.

"And not just any Youkai, but a Dog Demon."
