Chapter one- Prologue

Kagome Higurashi walked down the busy streets of Tokyo with a sad smile. She watched as people passed her some brushing up against her in an attempt to get to there destination. She was wearing a black business suit and she had on an electric blue top that was covered slightly by a black jacket and black gloves. Her hair falling down in layers behind her swaying at her waist where it ended. Kagome walked past the people with her blue eyes scanning the street signs. She thought grimily as the people bumped and pushed past her some barely touching her, that they just had a brush with death.

Kagome continued through the busy streets not stopping until she was at large building that read Yasha Corp. Kagome opened the door and walked in to the large marble reception area. She walked over to the receptionist that stood flirting with a man with black hair tied in a short low pony tail. He had a black business pants on and a dark purple shirt that was slightly unbuttoned and showing of a little of his well muscled chest.

Kagome's eyes flashed sliver as she watched his aura flare around him like a blanket. He turned to her in surprise; it soon faded when he saw her. "May I help you Miss?" The lady behind the counter asked rather annoyed that the man's attention was diverted from her. Kagome walked up with a soft smile. "Yes, I'm looking for Kikyo O-tama. I was told that she could be found here."

Miroku interrupted before the woman could tell her anything, "Why yes she is here, I'll take you to her and save Tara the trouble." He winked at the woman who blushed as Miroku began to lead Kagome to an elevator, "May I ask why you wish to see Kikyo, Miss?" Kagome's eyes flashed sliver as she acquired the young monk. "You have had spiritual training, have you not?" Miroku's face became serious, "Why yes, but how would you..."

She stepped into the elevator Miroku stepping in behind her leaning against the opposite wall with a serious face, even if his eyes did seem to wonder.

The elevator stopped ten floors shy to where they were going, and in stepped a woman in a magenta business suit, it had black trim. She had her hair in a high pony tail and she had files in her hand. She spotted Miroku and stepped in wearily. "Miroku..." He smiled, "My dear Sango, what a coincidence!" The woman stepped in next to Kagome and across from Miroku, "An unfortunate one." Sango mumbled under her breath allowing only Kagome to hear.

Kagome giggled at the woman. Miroku turned his attention back to Kagome, "I never did catch your name?" Kagome turned to him, "Kagome."

Miroku raised an eyebrow, "Do you have a last name?" Kagome kept her mouth shut before her eyes upturned allowing the blue to shine through, "Grim." Sango raised an eyebrow skeptically and Miroku frowned, Kagome laughed it off, "Now you know why I didn't want to tell you before."

Miroku frowned and then smiled at Kagome happily, "Of course not, it just doesn't seem to fit you." Sango nodded, "What do you do, Miss. Grim?" Kagome smiled, "Just Kagome. I've been called in by my superior to..." Kagome paused, "Assist Miss O-Tama with something." Sango frowned, "How did you know where to find her, she doesn't work here."

Kagome nodded, "I am well aware of that, but what I do allows me to be more adverse with my clients and less confined." Kagome said a bit blankly.

The elevator stopped when it beeped twentieth floor. Miroku, Sango and Kagome stepped out of the elevator, "So are you new to the area?" Miroku inquired. Kagome nodded, "My job brought me here and I have a long list of to do's so I will be here for a long while." Sango interrupted Miroku, "Would you like to go with us to night then? There is a new club that a friend of ours owns and since you're new it would be a good idea for you to get out and meet people?"

Kagome nodded in agreement, "Yes that sounds good." Kagome turned to Sango and pulled out a white card with sliver-ish writing on it, it read, "Lady Grim" in cursive and in black it read a phone number and nothing more. Sango nodded.

Miroku glanced at the card, "Lady Grim?" Kagome nodded, "My title, given to me by my associates." She had to stop her self from saying the truth, followers.

Miroku nodded, Sango waved her hand at Kagome through the files, "Catch ya Kagome!" Kagome smiled, "Bye." Miroku turned to Kagome, "Would you like me to show you to Miss Kikyo?" Kagome nodded, "That would be great Miroku, Thank you." Bring on the dead clay pot, Kagome added mentally her eyes flashing sliver. Miroku didn't miss her eyes changing to sliver but didn't comment on it, "So Kagome, how exactly did you know that I have had spiritual training?" Kagome laughed a bit, she liked these two.

She had seen through her eyes that they were trust worthy. "I lived in a shrine as a child." Miroku nodded. "Oh." Miroku lead Kagome to a pair of double doors and stopped. "Here we are I believe she is with Mr. Taisho." Kagome nodded. "I'll leave you, see you tonight Kagome." Kagome nodded, "Bye Miroku."

Kagome turned to the door and raised her hand pausing before knocking firmly three times.

-------------

Inuyasha sat across from his brother glaring, Kikyo to his left. "Brother do you truly plan on marrying this..." Before Sesshoumaru could finish Inuyasha had lunged at him. If he had been standing up he would have jumped out of the way but Inuyasha hit him and the chair, flipping it and the two brothers. They went at it as a smirk appeared over Kikyo's face.

Inuyasha had his hands in fists as he tried to pound Sesshoumaru. Sesshoumaru sent Inuyasha over him with a foot in the gut, pushing him self up with both hands, he punched Inuyasha square in the face, purposely not using his claws. Inuyasha slammed into the wall. He growled and stood up stalking towards Sesshoumaru but before he could take a step three knocks sounded on the door.

Both brothers' eyes snapped to the door, a scowl crossed Kikyo's face as she watched the door with disdain. Inuyasha growled not even thinking about who it could be, he only knew one person with the gull to interrupt him and Sesshoumaru. "What is it Miroku." When Miroku didn't answer Inuyasha stomped over to the door and swung it open, his mouth hit the floor when he saw who he had been yelling at.

There in front of him was a beautiful woman in a business suit, her hair going to her waist, she had blue eyes that seemed to be alive with there own world. At first glance she looked like Kikyo, but upon inspection she looked nothing like her. Plus her scent was something that he had never smelt before, Sakura blossoms and something unknown but it was beautiful. "Ah..." Was Inuyasha's intelligent reply as he opened the door and allowed her to walk in. Kikyo's eyes widened considerably at the girl.

Sesshoumaru remained impassive but inside he was surprised, but he didn't look like Inuyasha, drooling with large eyes. Kikyo walked up behind Inuyasha and wrapped an arm around him stepping on his foot, Inuyasha jumped up and stood straight, "Can I help you Miss?" Kagome smiled sweetly at him, "Actually I'm here to see Miss O-tama." Kikyo's eyes narrowed, "Do I know you?"

Kagome's eyes flashed sliver, Kikyo visibly tensed, what is she doing here, she wouldn't, not here. Kagome smiled sweetly, "I wouldn't suppose," Kagome pulled out her business card, this one different from the one she gave Sango, it was black with sliver writing, and there was no phone number but in large, sliver, cursive letters it read, Lady Grim. Kikyo visibly tensed.

She looked up at Kagome but not directly in the eyes. Her arm tightening around Inuyasha, he still didn't seem to notice her distress. Sesshoumaru however noted the happy and seemingly innocent smile, that the soft eyed girl was giving Kikyo. It almost looked like pity that shone in the depths of her eyes. Kagome continued why Kikyo looked back down at the business card and slowly flipped it over, "No one could seem to get a hold of you Miss O-Tama, so I decided to give you this myself, I look forward to seeing you again Miss O-Tama."

Kikyo had paled further than Sesshoumaru had expected she could, The blood red cocktail dress she wore making her look further dead than she was. "Surely Mi lady," Inuyasha snapped out of his stupor and looked at Kikyo in confusion as did Sesshoumaru but by merely raising an eyebrow at her words. She never was that respectful. Kikyo continued, "You would have a messenger for this?" Kikyo didn't understand why she herself would come to tell her when they would meet, usually when she showed up you are dead. Kagome smiled sweetly while turning and walking away, "Oh but Kikyo, I have."

Kikyo took a step back, the under world demons, that was what she was speaking of. Kikyo had ruthlessly slain them until they disappeared all together, now Kikyo was thinking that hadn't been such a good idea. Kikyo had been dead once, and Lady Grim had taken the better part of death.

Inuyasha watched the woman turn and walk into the elevator. He closed his door and turned to Kikyo, "What was that about?" he asked curiously, the two had been speaking so that they hadn't given any hints away to how they where related. Kikyo turned and walked to the door, pecking Inuyasha on the check, and turning to give Sesshoumaru a quick lustful look, only he saw what it was that laid in her eyes, his brother completely missing it. She turned and walked out the door with a, "We'll talk later Yashy!" And she was gone.

Sesshoumaru turned to leave behind her, deciding that the meeting was over, "If you choose to marry her then that is your choice, but I put honor before love, and for her to come to the family, would be a great dishonor."

Inuyasha growled at his brother as he walked out of his office, "That fucking bastard..." Inuyasha turned and stalked over to his phone hitting a few buttons, it rang for a moment before someone picked up the phone with a giggle, "Yes mister Taisho?" Inuyasha growled, "Tae tell that pervert Miroku to get his ass to my office now!" Inuyasha slammed the phone into the receiver and fell back into his chair, that girl, the one that Kikyo had called Mi lady, and he had never seen her before and for Kikyo to resort to formalities was something.

Miroku walked in with a goofy grin sketched on his face, "You wanted to see me?" Inuyasha growled, "Yea. Who was that woman that was just here asking for Kikyo?" Miroku got a far off look to his eyes with a perverted grin plastered on his face, "Ah yes Kagome." Inuyasha hurled a pencil at Miroku which he just side stepped, "First off you perverted playboy, Kagome who? And second what did she want with Kikyo, you're the only one that would have had the gull to send her here while I was in a meeting with Sesshoumaru!"

Miroku nodded, "Kagome Grim. She came asking for Kikyo and when I asked how she new Kikyo she said that Kikyo was a client of hers, as for what she does, she only mentioned that her line of work was adverse and allowed many different positions." Miroku said with a grin.

Inuyasha almost fell out of his chair, "WHAT THE HELL!!! You make her sound like Miss Play Boy Bunny of the year!"

Miroku shook his head, "Ah, wouldn't that be nice..."

Inuyasha laughed when a book suddenly hit Miroku's head and Sango was there standing behind him. She walked up in a huff and slammed some flies on Inuyasha's desk. "Miroku you make Kagome sound horrible, she's absolutely sweet, her last name is interesting but you are just plain sick!" Miroku grinned at Sango, "But my dear Sango, you know that I only believe she is beautiful, but not nearly as half as you!" Sango's eyes twitched and a slap echoed through the building.

--------

Kagome stopped just outside of the doors and walked a little ways down the stairs before her cell phone rang. Kagome flipped the small sliver flip phone out of her pocket where it went practically unnoticed and leaned against the railing for the stairs. "Hello?" Kagome asked in a sweet and calm voice, Kagome paused as a red jaguar speed past the front of the building Kikyo in the drivers seat. The voice on the other line talked fast and without breath finally pausing. Kagome watched as the tall sliver haired man in the office before walked out of the doors to the building. Kagome directed her action back to conversation.

"Yes, I know that Kikyo has been causing problems for everyone but she has taken the heads of those I send so I simply came to do the job myself. I will not see a downfall of any kind, and if such happens then I will do everything possible to bring it back up, but for now we our fine, and we look good for the future." Kagome nodded to herself as the person on the other line ranted. "Alright, that's not a problem, ok Chou."

---------

Sesshoumaru walked out of his brothers building to have his nose assaulted by all the smells that made a city. But one in particular drifted to his nose. Sakura blossoms and something unknown, what he smelled in the office, that woman?

He placed his sun glasses on and walked to the edge of the side walk and waited for the valet to bring his car around. He hadn't realized how intoxicated he was in the scent until he was snapped out of it by the voice the scent belonged to. "Lovely day isn't it, its starting to get colder, but I do love the cold, its refreshing after the long summer heat." Kagome said smiling up at the gray sky.

Sesshoumaru looked at her from behind his sunglasses with the corner or his eye, "Hardly." He replied to the smiling woman. She looked young, maybe nineteen, if her had to say anything he'd say eighteen but with the business suit on she seemed a bit older.

Kagome took his answer as permission to continue, "I think my favorite season is spring, everything is reborn, and no death." Sesshoumaru looked towards the girl, "Utter nonsense." Kagome cocked her head to the side, "It would seem so. But most people never truly appreciate life until they have seen the dead." Kagome smiled just as the valet pulled around the corner, "If you'll excuse me." Kagome said before crossing the road and waling the way she had came only moments before entering the building.

Sesshoumaru watched her leave out of the corner of his eye; shaking his head mentally he took the keys from the valet and got in his black Porsche. What an interesting creature that girl was... Sesshoumaru pulled from the curve and drove away the opposite direction of Kagome, towards his home on the other side of town.
