Chapter One: Tsuwa's Illness
Tsuwamono stared out of his balcony doors as a warm breeze brushed the damp bangs from his face. His fever was up again; He was sure of it. He sighed as his bedroom door opened. Tsuwamono looked toward the door as Kaori walked in with a tray of food. Kaori smiled gently as she made her way to his bed and sat the tray on his bedside table.
"I'm surprised you're awake, Tsuwa. How're you feeling today?" Kaori questioned as she stirred the soup she'd brought for him.
Tsuwa opened his mouth to reply and grimaced as he started to cough violently. Kaori waited patiently and patted his back until his coughing ceased. Tsuwa collapsed onto his pillow and took a few breaths before hoarsely replying, "I feel like I just got done with a two week training period with dad."
Kaori grinned at him and nodded. She put some soup on the spoon and blew on it before feeding it to Tsuwamono who struggled to swallow it. Kaori continued the process until the soup was gone then bent over and picked a bag up off the floor. She pulled two vials of liquid out of it and poured two drops of each liquid into a glass of water. Kaori stirred the medicine into the water and held the glass to Tsuwa's lips. Tsuwa drank the water and lay back against his pillow again.
"Are mom and dad back yet?" Tsuwa asked weakly. Kaori paused momentarily before shaking her head. Tsuwamono sighed before slipping into a light sleep.
Kaori stood from the bed and wiped Tsuwamono's hair from his forehead. 'The moon's already fading' Kaori thought sadly as she gazed at the normally dark blue, now light blue, crescent moon that adorned the boy's forehead. Even his stripes were fading from the maroon color to a light rose. Kaori sighed as she picked the tray up from the table and walked toward the door. She paused at the door and looked at the sleeping boy on the bed.
'It's been two months since he fell ill. Oh Kami-sama, please don't take Tsuwamono from us.' Tears pricked at the corners of Kaori's eyes as she shut the bedroom door and started down the hall.

Two months prior.....
Tsuwamono ran through the garden towards his mother when a stinging feeling on his neck caused him to stop. He looked up as Kagome, Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, Kaori, Sango, Miroku, Kohana, Kouga, and Tigara came running up to him.
"Are you alright?" his mother asked as she knelt down so she was level with him. Tsuwamono looked up at his mother and opened his mouth to answer her when the world suddenly went black.
Kagome grabbed hold of her oldest son before he hit the ground. She called his name and shook him before turning to Sesshoumaru. "What's wrong with him?" she questioned as tears streamed down her face.
Sesshoumaru knelt down next to her and looked at his son. "Let's get him to Inari. She could probably tell us better than anyone," he said as he picked Tsuwamono up and headed for the castle.
Once Inari looked Tsuwamono over, she turned to the group. "It's a blood disease. The only way to cure it is to have him drink the blood of a full blooded white dog demon..." Sesshoumaru began to cut his palm when Inari stopped him. Sesshoumaru glared at her and she sighed. "I said the last part wrong, milord. I meant to say a full blooded FEMALE white dog demon and it has to be a blood relative. The only one still alive is your mother, Kumiko," Inari sighed as Sesshoumaru stiffened.
"Is there another way, Inari-san?" Kagome questioned quietly.
Inari shook her head, "I'm afraid not, milady. If he doesn't drink the blood within the next six months, Tsuwamono-sama will die."
That very same night, Kagome, Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, Sango, and Miroku left to find Kumiko. Kaori, Kouga, Kohana, and Tigara were left at the palace to take care of the children.

Kaori was pulled from her thoughts as eight bundles of energy suddenly pounced on her. She fell to the floor and laughed. "Kaori-sama!!!" Sakura and Toki yelled simultaneously. Shino and Suzuki had clomped onto her tail. Mai, Keitaro, Matsu, and Hiroshi climbed off of her back and Kaori sat up and faced all of them.
Looking at the kids, it was pretty easy to tell who their parents were. Sakura and Toki, both three years old, were the only full humans amongst the group. The two girls were identical twins and looked to be a mix of both their parents, Sango and Miroku.
Keitaro and Suzuki both had coarse silver hair like their father and yellow cat ears like their mother. Keitaro had amber eyes and Suzuki had violet. Both children had Inuyasha's temperament but Tigara's kindness.
Matsu was the splitting image of Kouga, except for Kohana's golden hair and violet eyes.
Mai had long black hair with silver highlights and dark blue stripes on her cheeks. Her eyes were an amber color like Sesshoumaru's. She always had a devilish smirk on her face, but Kagome's attitude.
Shino had long silver hair with bluish-black highlights and maroon colored stripes on his cheeks. His eyes were blue with gold trim. He always had a smile on his face, but Sesshoumaru's attitude.
(A/N: Sheesh....those descriptions sucked!!! Oh well.)
Kaori stood and shook Shino and Suzuki off her tail before brushing herself off. "Now what'd ya want?" she asked with a grin on her face. She noticed a sudden shift in the children's attitude as Mai looked up at her.
"How's Tsu? We're worried about him, Kaori-sama," Mai stated sadly and bowed her head. The other children did the same and Kaori knelt down to them.
"I won't lie to you. Tsuwamono is dying, little ones. His markings are already fading. I'm sorry," Kaori stated as the kids started crying. Kaori felt helpless as she watched all of them. 'Now what?' she thought as she knelt there.

Meanwhile......
Kagome sat by the lake and stared into the water. 'We've been gone for two months and still no luck. Hope the kids are okay...' she thought as she looked at her reflection in the water.
"You alright, Kagome?" Inuyasha asked as he plopped down next to her. He handed her a cup of tea and sipped at his own.
Kagome sighed, "I'm worried about the kids. I really hoped they haven't killed Kaori-chan..."
Inuyasha laughed. "I think she'd be the one killing them, especially my little brats. Maybe Kouga's though... I wonder if she's killed that damn wolf yet," he stated thoughtfully.
Kagome laughed. "Nah, Kouga's part of Kaori's family now. Granted, they don't get along too well, but still she wouldn't kill part of her kin," Kagome stated and smiled.
Inuyasha nodded as Sesshoumaru walked up to the two. Sesshoumaru walked around to Kagome's other side and sat down. Kagome turned and looked at him. "Any luck?" she asked.
Sesshoumaru sighed, "None, but I was thinking. When mother left, she took one of the maids with her. I think that if we find the maid, we'll find my mother."
"And if we don't?" Kagome asked.
"Then we'll just continue north. The maid's name was Inutaishi, I think. She was half-demon, so maybe Inuyasha could talk to some of the half-demons that he knows," Sesshoumaru stated and looked at his brother.
Inuyasha shrugged, "I could try, but I can't guarantee anything."
"Well, it's all we can do for now," Kagome stated as she sipped her tea. 'I hope we find Kumiko soon. I don't want to lose Tsuwamono.'

Now, you're probably very mad about Tsuwamono being sick. I'm really sorry. My mind is a very bad thing. As for the kids, I'll have their names, parent's names, and their ages after this.
