Prologue - A Revalation

Timeless Love

Chapter One

A.N. - Well, this is actually my first Inu Yasha fanfic, but not my first fanfic... My greatest fanfic so far, at least in my opinion, is New Life. It is a DBZ AU fanfic featured on Fanfiction.net... I have other fanfics, but the same quality as New Life. I am going to try really hard on this one... I actually got the idea for this story while I was driving to my orthodonist appointment at 10:50 this morning... I was nearly late since I was reading fanfics on the computer. I just happened to look at the clock and say "Oh fucking shit! I'm going to be late." Well, I wasn't. I live down the damn street from the place, and I have my drivers license with my own car... Besides it was at 11... lol! ^___^ Oh and, I do not own Inu Yasha, or any other the characters, except for those I decide to create in my lovely head!!!

If you would like to read New Life, or any of my other crappy ass fanfics please go to my ff.net profile

Also, so you don't get confused in later chapters. This prologue is actually in the middle of the whole story. After this, it will go back to the beginning and then come back to this and then continue on to the end... Hopefully you understood that. You will once I get the whole story up... I think... 0_o

She sat there, in front of her desk, looking at the round object in her hand. She sub-consciencely rubbed her smooth, rounded belly. Glancing out of her window, she could the small temple that held the link to her past. Sighing, she pushed herself up and walked out of her room. Her feat softly pounded on the steps down to the first floor of her home. She stopped the catch her breath at the bottom of the stairs, her rounded belly making her lose energy quicker than normal.

Walking outside, and heading towards the temple, the woman thought of her past. She thought of what had happened to her and might what become of her. All she knew is, she wanted to be back in her past. She wanted what was best for herself, and foremost for the life growing within her large abdomen.

She came up to the temple and pulled out a set of keys from her pocket. She carefully chose the right key to fit the lock, and opened the door. She stepped into the dark inside, letting her eyes adjust to the light difference. She sighed once again. It had been a long eight months since she had last been in here, since she had come home. Drawing in a breath, she kept the unwanted tears from following town her puffy cheeks. She prayed she would be allowed access to her past. She needed to be there, she wanted to be there.

She rested her hands on the edge of the well and looked down into its depths. She couldn't see anything down there, but she didn't want to. All she wanted was to go down there and then come back up to find herself in her past, a place more suited for her and her baby. How could she ever explain the "abnormalties" of her baby to her friends. They would never understand what it was and they never would. In her past, the people would. They would be more understanding, hopefully. She knew some would, but some greatly feared what her baby is and would become.

She lifted one leg over the edge, straddling it. She made sure that foot had a proper place on the ladder into the well before she carefully brought the other leg over the side onto the ladder. Then, she started to slowly climb down the ladder into the well. Slipping on the last few steps, she fell the rest of the way to the bottom, hearing a loud "CRACK" once she landed. Pain shot up her leg from her ankle. She grimaced at the pain and didn't move. She looked up from the bottom of the well only to see darkness. He hope dwindled away, knowing she was still in the temple and not her past. She cried her heart out, letting down those unwanted tears. Tears that plagued her every single day of her life since she found out she was carrying his child.

She remembered that day. How could she forget, it was one of the happiest days of her life, yet, it was also the sadest days. She cried herself to exhaustion and fell asleep in the cold, dank well that could no longer link her to the past. She fell asleep with the pain still jolting up her leg. She fell asleep with tears still flowing freely. She fell asleep to the murmur of crickets in the temple, singing their love songs to each other.

"Sota, have you seen your sister?" Mrs. Higurashi asked of her youngest child.

"No mom!" Sota called from the living room. He was currently playing the newest addition to his Game Cube game collection.

"Could you go upstairs and see if she's in her room! Dinner will be ready shortly!" Mrs. Higurashi once again called out.

"Sure thing mom!" Sota paused his game and sat down his controller. He ran up the stairs two at a time in search for his sister. He came to his room and knocked softly, incase she was asleep. After he received no reply, he opened the door to find that his sister was not in the room. He then checked the rest of the second floor for his pregnant sister before retreating back downstairs to tell his mother of her disappearance.

"Mom! I couldn't find her anyway!" Sota said to his mother once he entered the kitchen.

"Where could she be?"

"Hmm... Odd, she has been staring out the windows lately at the old well temple." Grandpa Higurashi hinted from his seat at the table.

"Do you think that she actually went back grandpa?" Sota asked.

"You never know with that child."

"I understand what you're saying." Mrs. Higurashi replied.

"What do you mean mom?"

"Well, she has never told us who the father is, now has she? We've all asked her if it was Inu Yasha, but she doesn't confirm it nor does she deny it. She has never been like that before. She would always tell us straight forward what used to be wrong with her." Mrs. Higurashi said while staring out the kitchen window towards the well temple.

"We should go check if she's in there." Grandpa slowly got up from his seat and walked out of the house. Mrs. Higurashi and Sota followed him, after grabbing a flashlight. They walked out there to find the door already unlocked. "Yes, she has definitely been in here, or still is. She normally locks up after herself."

"That is if she went back." Mrs. Higurashi said softly. "I do pray she is all right."

Sota flicked on the flashlight once they were inside the small temple. He flashed the light in all corners of the the place, only to find old cobwebs littered about. He then walked over the well and shown the light down into it.

"MOM! GRANDPA!" Sota called to his elders. "She's down in the well!"

The two ran up behind Sota to see Kagome down in the well, asleep. Sota handed off the flashlight to his mother and climbed over the edge of the well to wake his sister. He reached the bottom and shook his sister. Heavy lidded eyes slowly opened to the sight of Sota. Bringing up a hand to rub the sleep from her eyes, Kagome tried to stand up, but pain shot up her leg.

"Ow!" Kagome leaned against the wall and held her ankle.

"Let me help you Kagome." Sota said. Slowly but surely, Sota had gotten Kagome out of the well and out into the dimming daylight. Grandpa Higurashi bent over to look at Kagome's ankle.

"Looks like you might of broken it. What happened?" he asked of his granddaughter.

"I was going down the well to see if... to see if..." tears once again flowed down her face.

"To see if you could go back to see whoever it is you love." Mrs. Higurashi finished for her daughter. Kagome nodded her headed in agreement.

"I slipped on the last few steps. I cried myself to sleep and woke up when you found me." Kagome cried into her mother's shoulder.

"It's all right dear. Whoever it is you miss, you'll live with them through your child." Mrs. Higurashi comforted her daughter, slowly rubbing circles on the young pregnant girl's back. "We should get you to a hospital to check out your ankle. Sota, go turn off the oven and then get the car keys. Grandpa and I will get Kagome into the car.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

"Well, I am sad to inform, that your ankle is most definitely broken. Yet, you will be happy to know that your baby is fine. The fall did not harm from what I can tell from the tests." Kagome's doctor said.

"Thank you Doctor Taoshi. How long must I wear a cast?"

"For at least a month. Your baby should be born about the time you get it off." Doctor Taoshi replied.

"Ok..." Kagome whispered. She rubber her belly, smiling down and the bluge. Her mother was right, she would love him through their child.

"I'll be right back with the materials for your cast." Doctor Taoshi left Kagome alone the in the examining room. She watched him leave and sighed once he was gone. She really didn't like being at the hospital nor did she want have her baby here. What if it was born with hanyou ears. What if it was born with facial markings. What if it was born with a tail. There were so many what ifs that should would be unable to answer when the doctors ask her about once the baby is born. She sobbed into her hands, she couldn't deal with all this pressure. She couldn't deal with people not being able to understand that her baby was part demon. They would probably scorn the child. Take it away from her for testing. It would be a freak to the outside world. She could not stand that! She wanted her child to be accepted! She wanted the best. She needed the best. She deserved the best.

Suddenly, she felt a major pain in her lower abdomen and then felt the rush of a liquid flow down her legs. She knew what was happening, and it was too soon. She cried harder than ever before. She prayed harder than she ever had in her life. Why did her baby have to come early. All of this was too much for her and she blacked out.

Kagome Higurashi woke up hours later. She looked out her window in the hospital to see that the sun was rising. How long did she stay asleep. She carefully sat up, wincing at the pain from her belly. Her movement awoke her lightly sleeping mother.

"Oh, my baby! Your awake! Do you feel all right?" she worried over her daughter.

"I'm fine, but I feel different, like something is missing from me." Kagome whispered melancholy.

"Well, there is something missing from you." Mrs. Higurashi informed her daughter. She walked over to a small bed and picked up its contents. She walked back over to her daughter handing the bundle of blankets to her daughter. "Meet the new addition to our family, your son."

Kagome cried. She gave birth to a son while she was cold. She wanted to be awake for his first hours of life, but she wasn't. Why did everything have to go so wrong in her life. Why must she have a cursed life. "When did it happen?"

"Shortly after the doctor found you. He was concerned that the baby would die while you were unconscience. He performed a cesarian section with my permission. He was correct in thinking the child would die if he staying in side you. The little guys heart rate dropped while performing the operation, but they got to him in time as you can see. So... What will you name him?"

"I'll name him Kado, my gateway."

"And what of his last name?"

"I... I don't know..." Kagome cried over her son who would be her gateway to her love.
