Calling All Orphans

by RavenSilverKat

summary: In a future where anything is possible, there's a boarding school for orphans under the age of 18. Enter Kagome, and the whole school is screwed! AU

disclaimer: I almost forgot to put this thing in. Not that it really matters. If I was Rumiko Takahashi-sensei, ASS would probably be dedicated to KagInu because they would then be the characters who wouldn't be together origonally.

AN: This is idea #10/29 now. It would've been out of 30 but, I decided that my "Phantom of the Opera" idea wan't such a good one for me to do so I cut it out. If you know of any KagSess stories with a "Phantom of the Opera" theme, let me know please. Okay, now, read away!

ch1: Moving and Settling In

"Alright then, Minamoto-san. Everything's settled," a black-haired man in rectangle glasses said, standing up, his arm around the waist of the golden-haired woman next to. He held out his hand to a grey-haired woman whose hair was up in a sofisticated bun at the nape of her neck. Her hair was the sort of grey that she was born with, not the type born from old age. Her eyes were the same soft grey but the soul behind the eyes was hard and crisp. She was wearing a simple, black suit but with a knee-length skirt instead of pants. She stood as well and shook the man's and woman's hand.

"Thank you, Urashima-sans. I appreciate you taking in my charge so late in the year." Her voice was crystal clear and was the type that left no room for arguement. "You don't have to worry about being her guardian though. She is my responsiblity until we find someone to adopt her."

"Oh, it's no problem at all. We only regret that we only had one room left and that the other three rooms that it shared had boys living in it," the woman said, her voice sincere.

"That won't be a problem and I don't think that the girl will mind very much. She prefers to be left alone and doesn't talk much. She won't be a problem."

The couple merely nodded their heads and looked at each other. "Well, this way then and I'll show you to you're room, Higurashi-san," the woman said and then blinked. "Where did she go?" she asked no one in particular. A shadow stepped out from the dark corner of the room and the other three people jumped. The shadow was, in fact, a young girl of only 16, wearing a dark blue hakama and haori, a black cloak hanging from her shoulders. Her hair was blacker than midnight with a blue tint and fell to the floor except for where her bangs were supposed to be--they fell to her chin and obscured her face except for her eyes which were large and a vivid blue not found in many that shone through her strands of hair. Her feet were bare and her nails were black.

"No matter how many times that happens, I'll never get used to it," Minamoto-san quipped and the couple merely stared. With a start, the woman realized that the girl was waiting for her to lead the way. She nodded to her husband and stepped out from behind the desk and guestered towards the door.

"Now, if you'll just follow me then," the woman said over her shoulder. "You're on the fourth floor which is also the top floor. We have both elevator and stair access in here. We have heating and air conditioning. We only hold the students here, we don't teach them. They all go to the Hinata school a few miles away for which we supply buses. We have a cafeteria on the first floor along with an entertainment room which has things like a pool table, arcade games, a big screen TV complete with cable and every type of game system along with DVD and VCR and a full collection of DVDs, tapes, and games. We also have a gym, a pool room with a hot tub in it, and a massive library where you can find any book you're looking for and a hundred computers, all with Internet access." The teenager's eyes gained a fierce gleam. "Every suite, as we call them, has four bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, and a bath room that has a shower and a large bath. The bath and shower are in one room and sperated from the sink and toilet which are seperated from each other. This gives students a chance to have one in the bath, one on the toilet, and one at the sink. That way, they can all be used at the same time." By this time, the had reached the elevator and the steel doors and slid silently open to reveal a large elevator with a black marble floor and blood red wallpaper. The woman pushed number four on the button panel.

"Now," she started, turning to face the teenager. "If you ever go into another room beside your own, you'll find that every suite and every room is decorated differently. Before the inhabitants move into their rooms, they are given a sheet asking about how they want their room decorated, as you well know. You have recieved everyhing that you wished in your room, by the way and your package will arrive in the morning." The girl nodded, satisfied. "When all of the inhabitants move into their suite, and they do ususally get to pick who they live with, all of the inhabitants sit down and decide what they want their decor will be like in the kitchen, living room, and bathroom. Now, if you wish to change anything, just send a message to me or my husband. Every room has a mailbox out front that only the inhabitants of the room and the deans have; each student has their own section just big enough for a normal-sized letter. We found it was easier than the students getting flocked on holidays like Valentine's Day." The door dinged and the womem stepped out. The walked along a hallway where the right-hand wall was filled with evenly spaced doors and the left-hand wall was all window from about four feet off the floor and up.

"And the boys you live with are among the most popular of Hinata High and of this dormitory. If you have any other questions, I'm sure your roommates would be happy to answer any additional questions that you might have." They reached the end of the hall and the last door. "This is your room. And this," she pulled a silver key out of her pants pocket, "is both you're room key and your mailbox key. The key is designed so that the first person who touches it besides me and my husband is who it works for and the only one it works for. The mailbox is designed so that people can only put something in unless you have a key." She handed the girl the key which glowed white momentarily. The golden-haired woman's eyes flashed. The teenager slid the key into the lock. "One of the boys is on vacation. There's one week of vacation left and your uniform and schedule are in your bedroom to do with as you please. There's also a planner which contains a map of the school. Please enjoy your time here and come to me or my husband if anything comes up. Your belongings are already in your room."

The girl bowed."Arigato Naru-sensei, Keitaro-sensei, Minamoto-san," she said soflty before she melted into the darkness of the room.

"She has a beautiful voice," Naru said in awe. Minamoto grunted and walked away. Naru stared after her before shaking her head and jogging to catch up.

The inside of the room was pitch black and most people wouldn't have been able to see at all. But Kagome wasn't like most people. She could see perfectly in the room. She was standing in the living room. Directly in front of her against the back wall was a entertainment center with a big screen TV, VCR, and DVD player. A kotatsu lay in front of it and three black leather couches laying like a square U with a box in the center (the kotatsu). The kotatsu was dark mahogony. The carpet was blood red and the walls were a dark purple that extended throughout the entire suite. There were more windows against the back wall of the living room covered with black curtains. She peeked through the curtains to find a wall of trees behind the glass. Very good. Escape routes might be necessary.

To her left was a kitchen of modern steel appliances, red marble counter top, and dark mahogony wood.

To her right was a hallway with three doors on the right side and two on the left. She walked down the hall and put her hand on each door she passed. The first door was the one on the left side. It was a boys room behind the door. The next door was on the right side. It was also a boys room behind the door. The next one was the middle door on the left side and open. It was the bathroom. She walked inside and flicked the light switch. There was a large, double sink on the wall right next to where the door opened. It had the same counter top as the kitchen and the same steel appliances as well as a large mirror extending the length of the counter. Behind the sink was a open door leading to a simple black toilet with a dark mahogany cupboard overhead. Next to the toilet room was another open door with a large floor bath. The bath had large steps inside for those of varying height and how high up they want the water to go on their bodies. She left the bath room and touched the next door which was on the right side and it was also a boy's room. The last room was on the left side and the door was closed. She put her hand on the door: it was empty. Her eyes smiled momentarily before she opened the door and stepped insde. She flicked the light switch and a soft, pale light flooded the room.

The walls was dark blue. Her closet took her entirewall on her left. The two walls across from her were covered with windows in the same fashion as the hallway that she had walked through and were also covered in black curtains like the living room. She peeked through them and was delighted to find that the wall of trees continued to her room and around the corner. Below the windows on the wall connected the the closet-wall were bookshelves that extended to the other window-wall that ended with a massive desk. That was good. She needed a good desk. The wall to her left was the only one that was just a wall, except for the door that she was standing in. Moving inwards, she opened the closet door. The rod that held things on hangers was in easy reach of her hand. There was a shelf over top of the rod. A few feet below the rod, to allow for something to hang down, was shelving of the same black wood. Half of the shelving was actually dresseres. There was a futon stting on the shelf above the rod in the corner closest the door. If anyone else were to look at it, all they'd probably see is a square mass of black.

She proceeded to unpack, hanging all of her shirts and dresses on hangers already in the closet, underwear, socks, pantyhose, tights, and belts in the top drawer of the first dresser, pants and the rare pair of shorts in the second drawer, and skirts in the bottom drawer. In the second dresser, she put all of the clothing that she was making. On top of the shelving, she found a folded school unifrom, a schedule, and a planner. At seeing what the uniform looked like, she gave a real, but extremely slight smile. It was a traditional sailor uniform. The top was the blood-red of the countertops of their suite, if not darker. It had black cuffs that would fall past her fingertips as she had requested. The clloar was black as well as was the tie. The color was the same black as the cuffs and so was the floor-length, pleated skirt which she had also requested. She placed the outfit with the other dresses and outfits. She then unpacked her three pairs of regular shoes, all of which were black: a pair of knee-length, lace-up, steel-toed boots, a pair of tennis shoes, and a pair of loafers. She then unpacked all of her cosplay shoes. She left her schedule and planner on the shelving.

She then unpacked all of her books which filled all but her last bookshelf. After that came all of her art supplies and every art piece that she was working on or had brought with her. The finished ones were tacked to the only free wall and the space underneath the free window-wall which is where she started so that there was more free space on the free wall. The unfinisheds and the art supplies were stowed away into the massive desk. Looking at her watch that sat upon her left black, leather arm warmers that had the fingertips cut off, she discovered that is was 6:00 and that she was hungry. She turned off the light and closed her door, stepping into the inky darkness of the suite. Her doorknob glowed blue for a moment until she let go.

Her steps were silent as she glided to the kitchen. She found the light switch and flicked it, cringing as the bright light pounded into her eyes. She started with the fridge and freezer. The fridge contained pop, pizza, and leftover takeout; the freezer had a ice tray full of ice, ice cream, and popscicles. She sighed. Typical men. She opened all of the cupboards and checked the dishwasher to make sure that there were no dishes in it. There weren't but, it was filthy and so was the microwave and cupboards. She set to work and started to unload all of the contents of the cupboards. There wasn't much: a lot of ramen in varying flavors but mainly chicken, and a few pieces of silverware, plates, bowls, and pots and pans. She glided into the bathroom and grabbed a towel. Bringing it back into the kitchen, she soaked it in lukewarm water and poceeded in cleaning out the kitchen. Half an hour later, everything was clean and spotless. She organized everything to her perferences and resolved that no one would ever cook in her kitchen. Everything closed and settled away. She checked to see if everthing was organized and clean in the living room and the bathroom. It seemed that the men that lived there knew how to take care of those rooms better than the kitchen. 'Go figure.' All of the lights turned off, she walked out the door and went shopping for some actual food and dishes.

Two silver-haired men walked down the hallway, the older one had hair ro his kness and was wearing a white kimono and black slippers and the younger one had hair that reached his back and he wore a red kimono and walked around barefoot. They both also had gold eyes but the older one had facial markings: a blue crescent moon on his forehead and two diagonal, marroon stripes below his eyes. His eyes were cold and blank while the younger one wore a constant look of anger and annoyance. The boy in white had a white, fluffy tail wrapped around his waist then flung over his right shoulder. The one in red had white dog ears that peaked out from under his unruly mass of hair on top of his head.

"Somebody new passed this way," he remarked, breathing in deeply. He paused. "Two women." The older one merely nodded. "You think someone got into our room again?" They had reached their door. The one in red breathed in deeply again. "Naru-sensei was with them. Do you think that we have a new roommate? We did request that we didn't get a girl roommate. Keitaro-sensei knows how the girls can get and we have it way worse than he ever did."

"One way to find out," the older one said, his voice crisp and cool. He slid his key into the lock and stepped inside. The room looked exaclty as they left it but a faint scent permeated the room, a girl's scent, and the kitchen smelled different than normal. The long-haired one walked into the kitchen and flicked the light.

"It's clean," his younger half-brother remarked in awe. And organized? Some girl came into our room just to clean our kitchen?!" Inuyasha exclaimed, clearly disbelieving.

"Maybe not," Seeshoumaru replied. He walked down the hall and put his hand on the door knob of the room that was previously unoccupied. When he went to twist it, his hand was forced back by a barrier. "It seems that we have a new roommate, Inuyasha," he quipped, looking over at his half-brother.

"Well," the boy started with a fanged grin, "let's turn off all of the lights and wait for the bitch to come home."

Her arms were ladden down with many plastic bags. She made no sound as she climbed up the four flights of stairs. When she reached her door, she paused and then put her hand on the door. There were people inside. It was two of the men. She slid her key in and slipped inside. Her eyes found two men watching her from the couch. It was as dark inside as it was the first time she walked into the rom. The boys must have thought that she couldn't see them for they just sat there and stared. She had yet to stop moving and continued into the kitchen. She shed bag after bag off of her arm onto the counter as she stretched her foot back and flicked the switch that turned on the light. She ignored the two boys that occupied the other room and set about putting away the food and dishes that she had bought. She glanced at her watch: 7:00. First, she braided her hair to keep it our of the way. She then proceeded to busy herself with making dinner. She opened the cupboard that contained the ramen and pulled out six packets of ramen and she blinked at the low, quiet growl that sounded from the living room. It was obvious that one of the boys loved ramen very much. She pulled out the package of diced chicken from the fridge and bags of frozen peas, corn, and carrots from the freezer. She threw the chicken, ramen, peas, corm, and a few sliced pieces of carrots in to a pot of boiling water as well as the flavoring from three of the packets. She drew three bowls from the cupboard and three forks from the drawer next to the fridge.

A few minutes later and the dinner as complete. She divided the noodles into even amounts into the three bowls. She then mixed in a package into each bowl and stuck a fork into two bowls. She grabbed to two bowls with forks and carried them out to the living rooom and set them on the kotatsu and set one in front of both boys. A clawed hand and shot out and grasped her left wrist from the left-side couch. The boy on her right side got off the couch and walked to the light switch and soft, white light flooded the otherwise dark room. The boy holding her wrist stood up and she followed gracefully. The other one came up beside him. His grip never loosened.

They boys only had two physical similarities: both had silver hair, one to the waist and the other to the knees, and both had golden eyes. The shorter one was still taller than her and was the one with hair to his waist. He wore a red kimono and no shoes. There were a pair of fuzzy doggie ears on the top of his head. The other one whose hair fell to his knees was quite a bit taller than the one next to him. He wore a white kimono with random spots of a red rectangle/flower design. He also wore a yellow sash around his wasit and the ends fell to his knees and ended in a purple design and black slippers covered his feet. He had a blue crescent moon on his forehead and two, smooth, diagonal, marron stipes beneath his eyes and some marroom on his eyelids. There was a large, fluffy, white tail wrapped around his waist and then slung over his right shoulder His eyes were cold and calculating as well as guarded and blank. The other's had a consistant undertone of anger and annoyance. She remained silent and merely stared at the two.

"Who are you?" the older one demanded that she tell him. His voice was silky smooth and was the type that could make a women melt. Although, it was hard and clipped. She said nothing. It was slightly rude of him to grab her wrist and then demand that she tell him who she was. She glanced down at his hand clasping her wrist and saw stipes on his wrist that matched the ones on his face. Not many people could tell but, she wore a pair a black leather arm warmers that had the fingertips cut off. And, since she wore those, she couldn't feel his grip as he wanted her to. He seemed to have realized that for he tightened his hold on her wrist. She still said nothing. She remembered that she still had her cloak on and frowned. Reaching up, she tilted her head to the side and closed her eyes as she drew her cloak over her head. It was designed like Frodo Baggins' cloak from the Lord of the Rings movie, so that it had no buttons, pins, strings, or zippers. She bowed her head so that when her cloak swept her bangs aside, her face wouldn't be seen. She draped her cloak over her arm and shook her head slightly to replace her bangs. Still, she said nothing. then, the re-clad boy spoke up.

"I'm Nishi Inuyasha," he told her and flicked his brother in the head.

Glaring at the younger boy, the tailed youkai introduced himself as well as let go of her wrist. "Nishi Sesshoumaru."

"We're half-brothers," they said together. Obviously, they were constantly asked about that topic based on their similar looks.

She bowed. "Higurashi Kagome," she said simply, her voice very soft and musical. Without warning, a pad of paper and a pen zoomed from her room, through the hallway, and onto the table. The boys both blinked and then looked down at it. The pen was writing by itself. "I don't talk a lot nor do I like to," is what it wrote. They stared at her. She guestered at the food laying on the table and then went to the kitchen to get her own. She quickly cleaned the dishes and put them away before she joined the two boys at the kotatsu. The TV was turned on and the boys (mainly Inuyasha; Sesshoumaru didn't seem to care) decided that they would put in their DVD of "Lord of the Rings: The Return of the Kings". Apparently, they had decided earlier that they would watch the entire series of "Lord of the Rings" all over again. She said nothing and only collected their bowls when they were finished so that she could wash them and put them away. They were standing in the doorway while she was working and were still there when she turned around to go back to the living room. She blinked.

"Thank you," they said together. Kagome blinked again. Sesshoumaru wasn't the type of person to talk to others, much less grace them with a "Thank you." She found it odd and apparently his brother did too for he stared shamelessly at his older-brother with mouth wide open. When he regained his senses, Inuyasha elaborated their thank you.

"Thanks for the food and organizing the kitchen," he said, guestering at the kitchen as he spoke of it. He jumped again when the pad of paper and pen zoomed past him. It started scribbling across the paper again.

"If either of you or your roommate ever ATTEMPT to cook in MY kitchen again, things won't be pleasant," the paper warned and even though her eyes were mostly covered, they both got the impression that she was glaring at them. Inuyasha took an involuntarily took a step back. Sesshoumaru and Kagome said nothing but the pen did start moving again.

"I do need both of you to write down what foods you like and when you like to/usually eat them--ie:breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks." The page that had been written on lifted up and one sheet of paper tore it self from the pad. The pen drew a line directly down the middle and labeled one side "Sesshoumaru" and the other "Inuyasha" before it floated towards the brothers which was promptly followed by the pen. Sesshoumaru grabbed the pen first and wrote his favorites food down. When he finished, he merely let go. The pen and paper continued floating untill Inuyasha grabbed them and wrote them down. He let go just as Sesshoumaru had done and the paper flew under a magnet on the fridge and the pen went back to its spot next to the floating pad of paper. Kagome bowed and then disappeared into the bath room untill she emerged an hour later completely dry and smelling like citrus. She never turned around and headed straight to her bedroom. Her light was on long past the time that both the boys had fallen asleep.

Her package arrived before the boys awoke the next morning. "Perfect.' she thought. It was here. She hauled it to her room and unwrapped the brown paper. Inside the box was a manequin that was exacted to her measurements. It was perfect because once she made her clothes, she could wear them. She put the manequin in behind the door and left her room to go make breakfast.

Over the next week, the three room mates had developed a routine. In the morning, the boys would wake up or come back from some sort of morning practice and find food and Kagome sitting on the kotatsu. And when they said that she was sitting on the table, they really meant it. She was rarely sitting at the kotatsu. They all wore the same basic clothes, too: Inuyasha in red, Sesshoumaru in white, and Kagome in black's, blood-red's, blue's, and purple's, all of which were darker than the average color. The boys' hair stayed the same except when they pulled it back into a ponytail occasionally, but Kagome's hair changed every day although her bangs were always the same but the rest of her hair would always be a little different: a bun, a ponytail, a braid, just plain, there were all sorts of ways that she would do her hair. When the meal was finished, she would wash the dishes and refused to let the two boys into the kitchen. The same thing would always happen for lunch and dinner. She would always ask (on paper, of course) if there was any specific food that they wanted for that meal. She would always stop whatever she was doing whenever they asked for a snack of some sort. It didn't seem to bother her to do so either. During the times between meals, the three often disappeared into their own different places. Sometimes, Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru had difficulty locating the girl and other times they ran into her by coincidence.

They've both run into her at the pool: she seems to go there right after every meal for some amount of time but, she's also been spotted in the library at damn-close-together times--time frames of anyway between 0 seconds and 5 minutes! She also seemed to appear in the gym and in the entertainment center at times although, the one place she never appeared in was the cafeteria--it seemed that she just didn't like people very much. On Sunday though, something was different. For starters, she wasn't on the kotatsu but the food still was. She also seemed to have aten already. About the time that they finished, Kagome emergered from her bedrom with a backpack slung over her right shoulder. It was a plain black and seemed to only have one pocket: one of the big ones that were made for binders. She grabbed their bowls as she passed and headed to the kitchen.

"Kagome," Inuyasha started, standing up. "You have obviously have to go somewhere. Why don't you let us clean the dishes?"

A dirty glare from Sesshoumaru told the other two that he didn't appreciate the offer that Inuyasha had made for him. But the look his eyes shot to Kagome that was unoticed by Inuyasha made it clear that he would do it if she asked. He always felt that he was in a constant state of debt to her because of her cooking for them as well as keeping them all clean and organized. He wouldn't do much for anybody including his brother but, he would do things for Kagome. But only minor things like washing the dishes or taking last minute clothing down to the dormitory laundry room. He would never do anything major which consisted of anything that lasted for more than 5 minutes.

"No," she said firmly. Over the past week that she had lived there, Kagome had begun to talk a little more each day but, she never spoke more than a average of 20 words a day. She mainly only answered questions or said something with just a word. She always tried to talk in as little as words as was possible. They still hadn't seen her face yet for she never let her bangs sweep to the side and let them see.

Inuyasha tried to start again but Kagome shook her head and held up her hand. "Although, come with?" she asked. The hanyou, for that was what he was, looked surprised.

"Kagome!" he exclaimed. "You said 4 words. IN A ROW!" He was excited. He had come to like Kagome over the past week and always got excited when she said more than two words in a row. Inuyasha smiled a wide, fanged grin. Kagome gave him a weak smile and Inuyasha just glomped her. He couldn't help it. "You smiled!" he cheered. He loved this cute girl who had stolen his heart with her quiet and rare words and smiles. It didn't take that long for her to worm her way into his already-occupied heart without even trying. He was damn sure that his brother fealt the same way, he just wouldn't admit it, even to himself. She didn't say anything but her eyes flicked to his trianglar puppy ears. A look crossed her eyes and she sprang to the kitchen where she proceeded to wash the dishes. Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru stared after her.

"Where were you going?!" Inuyasha shouted into the kitchen. The pad on the table scribbled out "some where--some where secret and special--wanna come with?". They looked at each other.

"Wanna go?" the hanyou asked his half-brother. His brother stayed silent and just stared off into the kitchen. He turned to look at his brother and nodded.

"Hai," he replied, his voice somewhat distant. The soft click of a cupboard closing signaled the end of Kagome's doings and, sure enough, she walked out of the kitchen a moment later. When she reached the door, she turned back to look at the brothers and tilted her head to the side in question. Inuyasha smiled at her.

"Let's go!" he exclaimed.

Kagome opened the door and glided out. Today, she was wearing black bondage pants with red sting, a baggy black sweatshirt, and, as always, her black leather arm warmers that had the fingertips cut-off. She was barefoot, as always, and wore her usual black cloak. In fact, neither one of the brothers had ever seen her wear shoes. She lead the way down the staircase and out into the crisp December air. Sesshoumaru was strong but, walking through the snow barefoot? There was a forest right next to the dormitory so that those that are feeling depressed can escape into the dense vegetation. It was through there that they were led.

At the first tree, Kagome crouched down and sprang up into the boughs. She began to run through the forest via the upper path that not many knew how to find much less to follow if they did manage to find the ancient path. Her hair, clothes, and arms streeemed behind her as she leaned forward into the wind. She could hear the brothers behind her, struggling to keep up and to keep as silent as she was, even though they all knew that she was just naturally quiet and that there really was no need to keep silent. She was constantly veering to the right and, without warning, the brothers found themselves blinded by the sudden light as they emerged from the forest. When their eyes had adjusted to the sudden light, they found Kagome standing on the ground a hundred feet below them. The jumped down to land on either side of her. When they landed, she continued walking. In front of them was one of many convetion centers that dotted Japan. Kagome entered what looked like a side door and beckoned that they follow. Once inside, the teenager slipped into the girl's restroom. A few minutes later, another girl exited although she did look slightly familiar. She was the exact replica of "Raven" from "Teen Titans" and she had Kagome's backpack over her shoulder. She walked over to the boys and held out her bag to them.

"Hold, please?" she asked. Inuyasha blinked and stared.

"Kagome?!" he exclaimed incredously. The girl just blinked at him. He smiled. "Wow! You almost don't even look like you! Wow! Damn! You're good at this! But, your hair?! And your eyes?!" Inuyasha exclaimed, completely puzzled. Her hair and eyes were now purple and her face looked exactly like Raven's. She was such a complete replica that one would think that she was Raven and would completely forget that Raven was actually a cartoon. Kagome continued to hold her bag out but didn't have the expectant air around her that most girls did. Sesshoumaru reached out and took it gently from her grasp and then slung it over his shoulder while Inuyasha gaped at the girl. The hanyou finally shook his head and smiled gently at her. The corners of her lips lifted slightly at the brothers before she turned around and walked through the large doors behind her. When the doors swung open, the boys cringed at the loud noise inside and marveled at the bright colors.

The inside of the large convention hall was teeming with people of every age, size, shape, and color. Men and women and children crowded the vast hall covered in elaborate cosplay costumes of all sorts. There were anime costumes, and manga costumes, and game player costumes. When Kagome entered the hall, those closest to her fell silent and watched and soon the quiet fell over the entire hall.

"Tenshi-san!" the hall rang out and all of the cosplayers surged forward toward the thee orphans.

"Tenshi-san?" Inuyasha asked, leaning towards Kagome who was on his right who was on Sesshoumaru's left.

"An alias I presume, given to you by the others?" Sesshoumaru suggested and Kagome nodded. The crowd had reached them now. Kagome looked unworried by their close proximity as if this occurence happened frequently.

"Tenshi-san!" they all cried in unision and then fell silent.

"So, decided to dress as a girl this time, did you, Tenshi-san?" asked a girl close to them with a smile on her face. Kagome nodded. Upon seeing the confused looks on many of the faces in the hall, the girl decided to elaborate. "Tenshi-san comes every Sunday for our cosplay convention. So all of you newbies have a place to go on Sundays when you're bored out of your mind. Tenshi-san is a girl but, that doesn't stop her from dressing like just a girl." Those who were regulars laughed. "For example," she continued, "last weekend, Tenshi-san was one of the most popular movie chararcters in the sci-fi category: Gandolf of Lord of the Rings. It was one of her best costumes yet and if you wish to see it, every cosplayer here has a sort of a journal in which they keep pictures and other things from this convention. They are located in the locker rooms and the lockers are named after the cosplayer's alias or true name if they so wish to use it. Getting back to the subject," she continued after a moments pause to allow those who wished to to go see Tenshi-san's journal, "Tenshi-san came in here, as she always did, looking like she fell straight from the movie screen. Her hair was long and grey as were her clothes and matched Gandalf's. She had an exact replica of his staff and she even rode in on the same gray breed of horse from the movie. She even had that unatural light about her. She was beautiful," the girl sighed and those that had attended that day sighed along with her. "But now, your presentation, Tenshi-san!" she cried and a wordless cheer flooded the room. Those that had gone to check out her journal came back at the sound to find the girl standing on the stage.

Kagome obliged and walked onto the stage. The boys merely stepped back and leaned against the wall to watch. Every time she came to the convention, since the first time, she had put on a show for the other cosplayers. Last time, as Gandalf, she had put on a magic fireworks display and changed objects like origami into live things. It had been an automatic hit with everyone, especially the children. This time, she was going to use the form of powers as Raven did in the cartoons. She had chosen to wear the dark cloak rather than the white one but she still had the powers of Raven later on in the girl's life. First, she whistled a fierce whistle that caught the attention of everyone in the room. She made a circling motion with her fingers and everyone gathered in a tight circle around the stage. Kagome's eyes flickered towards the boys and they caught the gist, moving towards the edge of the circle. A feral gleam was seen in her eyes.

"Azarath metrion zinthos!" she cried and the circle of people was surrounded by a large black circle that turned into a bird and flew through the ceiling. Just moments later, they had arrived at their destination: a theme park that also had a water park.

"Arigato gozaimosu, Tenshi-san!" the cosplayers cried out in unision and Kagome glanced at her watch. It was only 10:00 am.

"Here, 5:00 pm!" she shouted and everyone replied with a "'k!" before they all shot off towards the rides and water park. Soon, only Inuyasha, Kagome, and Sesshoumaru were left.

"Interesting presentation, Tenshi-san," Sesshoumaru mocked. She glared at him.

"Go back?" she asked fiercely. He only blinked at her. She blinked back and then sprang off towards the largest roller coaster in the park. Inuyasha tossed a fang grinned towards his brother and ran off after her. Sesshoumaru soon followed suit. They both found Kagome waiting in line for the first cart. Sesshoumaru stood behind her and Inuyasha stood next to them so that he would be directly behind him when they went on the roller coaster. The next time the coaster rolled around, it was their turn. Kagome slid in to the far end and Sesshoumaru followed. Inuyasha flumped into the seat directly behind Kagome and dangled his arms on either side of her and rested his chin on the edge of their seat. Sesshoumaru glanced down at his younger half-brother's arms and immediately quashed the suddenly possesive feeling that had washed over him at his brother's actions. Kagome looked over at him, her eyes questioning. He said nothing and merely strapped himself into the seat. After she had buckled herself in, he pulled the bar over their heads. It was the type of roller coaster that went upside down at times. He could hear his brother doing the same behind them.

A pre-recorded voice emerged from the speakers and told them the rules and what to expect on the coaster. Sesshoumaru ignored the voice as did Kagome and Inuyasha. They had all been here before. The voice ended and the coaster started to click as it started to climb. Kagome raised her arms above her head, her long, black nailed-fingers stretched straight as did her arms. The coaster climbed higher and higher and many more of the coaster's occupants began to copy Kagome and raised their hands and arms as well. Then, they were at the top and looking down on a nearly vertical slope of a large, metal roller coaster. The girls behind them screamed as they fell over the large slope and down a mile of solid, steel track. The coaster went under ground, on ground, above ground, and in loops and just upside down for parts. Kagome never made a sound and had a serene look on her face the entire time, as well as kept her arms up till they were back in the little log house more than five minutes after they had left it. The others behind them never stopped screaming and were still trying to stop when Inuyasha, Kagome, and Sesshoumaru stepped onto the platform that led to the stairs that led back to the rest of the park. Inuyasha threw his fist into the air and whooped.

"Damn!" he shouted. "What an adrenalin rush! Wooh! Damn! I LOVE that roller coaster!"

"Then you should marry it," Sesshoumaru commented drily. "In the mean time, Kagome and I shall move on to other rides." He walked away before she could say anything. She looked back at Inuyasha. She shrugged and followed the older boy. After a minute, Inuyasha processed what the tailed youkai said and ran to catch up.

Seven hours later found the cosplayers reassembled near the entrance. Every cosplayer was slightly wet from the park and slightly dried, as if they had tok a ride on a caoster to dry off before they left, and everyone was ladden down with at least a pound of sweets, if not more for some. Kagome gave a shril whistle and anybody who was running late suddenly appeared with the rest of them. They were the same as the others: half wet, half dry, and ladden with candy. Kagome did a mental check and, after finding everyone there, they were once again surrounded by a giant black bubble that transformed into a bird. They were back in Tokyo moments later. After everone in the convention hall had said their goodbyes to "Tenshi-san" and some pictures were taken, 5:30 found Kagome dressed in her regualr clothing and leading the boys back to their dormitory.

As soon as they emerged into the fourth floor hallway, Kagome knew that something was different. The third boy was home from his vacation. Inuyasha commented that the boy was home but Kagome ignored him and slid in her key. There was a boy standing outside the kitchen, trying unsucessfully to get in. He had obviously tried to cook something and her spell had automatically kicked him out. She moved forward and a familiar sense of security washed over her. She ignored the boys behind her. Her eyes were only for the boy in front of her that screamed familiar and had holy powers. He wore black and purple robes. At a shout from Inuyasha, he turned but froze when his eyes fell on Kagome. She was also frozen.

"Miroku!" she shouted, and threw herself on the boy.

"Kagome!" he exclaimed, and wrapped his arms tightly around the teenager's waist.

The two brothers looked at each other. 'What the hell was going on here?!'
