The Phantom of the Opera by Shinamoru

Prologue

In Tokyo, Japan, 1919, the famous Hitarino Opera House stood half burned; it was just used for storage among other things. On a normally busy day, a car with gleaming paint black as coal and the patron symbol on its side pulled in front of the old opera house. An old nun climbed out of the front passenger's seat, her long black hair in the traditional miko style, and her brown eyes showing no emotion, and an old InuHanyou came out of the driver's seat, his silver hair slightly becoming a dull gray.

The nun went to the trunk of the car, pulled out a wheelchair, and wheeled it to the back passenger side of the car. She opened the door and helped a an old InuYoukai with long graying hair, two magenta strips on each cheek, and a navy blue crescent moon on his forehead, into the wheelchair. The driver wheeled him into the opera house, and past a sign that read: Hitarino Opera House Item Auction Today.

An old man stood at the auctioneer stand, his brown eyes sparkled slightly in the daylight, and his black hair tied up in a high ponytail. It was Master Suikotsu Hikaru; he was one of the former actors for Hitarino Opera House.

"Lot 665 ladies and gentlemen," Suikotsu said, "a paper-mache in the shape of a barrel organ."

The music box caught the InuYoukai's attention, as well as an old woman's that wore pink eyeliner.

"Attached is a figure of a FoxYoukai kit dressed in an ancient Japanese kimono, playing the symbols," Suikotsu said as he held up the described item. "Showing here."

Suikotsu turned a wind-up key on the back of the music box, he let go of the key, and a tune began to play as the FoxYoukai lightly tapped the symbols together.

"May I commence at 15 yen?" Suikotsu asked.

A short man in the back of the crowd raised his hand.

"Sir Mukotsu Mishaharu, 15 yen thank you," Suikotsu said.

The old InuYoukai raised his hand.

"Yes, 20 from you sir," Suikotsu said. "Thank you."

The old woman with pink eyeliner raised her hand as well.

"Lady Sango Tarahashi, 25 yen," Suikotsu said, "Thank you my lady, 25 yen I'm bid."

The old InuYoukai raised his hand once again.

"30 yen," Suikotsu said, "and 35 yen?"

The room had become silent.

"Selling at 30 yen then, 30 once, 30 twice," Suikotsu picked up his auctioneer hammer and tapped it on the stand. "Sold to Lord Sesshomaru Taishou."

A bald man with purple marks on his face took the music box from Suikotsu and handed it to Lord Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru looked at the box while deep in thought. He sang in his head:

A collector's piece indeed,

Every detail,

Exactly as she said.

Will you still play when all the rest of us are dead?

"Lot 666 then," Suikotsu said, "a chandelier. Some of you may recall the strange affair of the Phantom of the Opera, a mystery that never was fully explained. Ladies and gentlemen, we are told that this *points to a large chandelier being lit* is the very chandelier which figures in that famous disaster. Perhaps now we can frighten away the ghost of so many years ago."

The stage men used ropes and pulleys to lift the chandelier up to the ceiling. Sesshomaru and Sango had the same thought going through their minds, they both remembered that time, it happened...

This is the first fanfic I've ever posted, so please go easy on the insults if there are any. I'll try to get the first chapter up ASAP. Until then, bye! And if you have suggestions for couples or anything, feel free to send them in.
