Shadow15*: Hey it's me again!! I have an idea that might be interesting. I thought of this when I was listening to Evanescence's song My Last Breath. I hope that you will like it!!

I decided to change some things to the story. I haven't seen this yet.

Chapter one
The Friendship

*The first three chapters are before Sesshomaru's mother dies. He is a child about six years old. He wants to have a friend because everyone never wants to play with him.*
Sesshomaru was wandering the halls of the castle when he heard someone singing quietly. He had just passed the gardens and the sound was coming from that direction. 'Who is singing? The song and voice sounds beautiful, but it sounds so sad.' he thought curiously. He walked back to the entrance of the gardens and gasped quietly at what he saw.
A beautiful figure was sitting on the edge of the fountain and was staring at the moon. She was singing softly and had tears running down her face. The words were hauntingly beautiful and he stopped to listen to the song.
It would be nice if we could put away and throw out
everything except what really mattered, but
reality is just cruel.
In such times,

He walked behind her and asked softly "Why are you crying? Were You thinking about your family? You seem lost." he said softly looking at the crying girl. Kagome jumped in surprise and turned quickly around, wondering who asked the question. She saw a little boy that didn't look human. He had long silver hair, crimson stripes on his face, a purple crescent moon on his face, claws, and striking molten gold eyes.

Kagome's POV
"Who are you?" she asked quietly. She was surprised and a little scared that someone had found her. She was so used to being alone that seeing a living thing scared and excited her at the same time. When she was at her village, she had only a few friends. She was a highly respected and powerful miko. Being a miko meant that she was very lonely and she only wanted someone to love her. She had died from numerous infected wounds that she had got from battling Ryu youkai with the taijiya that were visiting the village. She almost died protecting her village from youkai and was suspicious of this one. Everyone else in the village died when the Ryu youkai received word that she was recovering and no one was protecting the village.
The last ryu youkai turned her into a forbidden child with his dying wish that she will suffer greatly. Now she is cursed to having everyone hate her. The people that knew what she was at least. Anyone that didn't know what I was could be my friend.
"My name is Sesshomaru. What is your name?" he asked. Her eyes widened slightly. She had heard that name before. He was the prince of the western lands. If he was here that means she was at the palace! She was supposed to be at her shrine to protect it. "My name is Kagome, Sesshomaru-sama." she said softly and glanced at him. "I am crying because I am remembering the things that I had left behind when I died. I was thinking about my family and my friend that was so close to me that you could call her my sister. I am lost though. Can you help me find my way out of here?"

Sesshomaru's POV
He couldn't believe his eves. He was talking to a youkai maiden and a pretty one at that. She had midnight black hair that went to her lower back and it looked blue in the moonlight. She had dark sapphire blue eyes that made him want to stare at them forever. She was dressed in a black fighting kimono and had a katana strapped to her waist. She was obviously demon and he wondered how she was in the gardens without anyone knowing that she was there.
" Don't call me Sesshomaru-sama!! I hate being called that!! Call me Sess, Sesshou, or any other name that doesn't sound so stupid." he said with a childish pout. "Okay Sess-chan! I'll do what you ask!" Kagome said laughing. His eyes lit up and he smiled happily.
"Please don't leave!! You are the only one besides my retainer that will actually talk to me without being scared. Will you be my friend? All of the other children have a friend and I don't. I want someone to play with.!" he said sadly. Kagome looked at him with sad eyes. She couldn't believe that he didn't have a friend to play with and to talk to. "I'll be your friend Sess-chan. No child should go through life without having a friend." she said softly. He couldn't believe what he just heard. "Thank you so much Kagome-chan!! I'm glad that you are my friend!!" he said happily.
He jumped toward her and tried to hug her, only to find that he hit something hard and then landed hard on the stone floor. "Itai...that hurt!! Why can't I give you a hug Kagome-chan??" he asked confused. "I can't hug anyone right now Sess-chan. I have to go in a few minutes." she said laughing silently at him. "Do you want to know a secret Sess-chan?" Sesshomaru's eyes got big and he nodded his head.
"Well, I can come back tomorrow. Then I can teach you some really fun games!" Sesshomaru thought about this for a minute and gasped loudly when a thought came to him. "Kagome-chan!! This is going to be so much fun!! You can teach me some fun games then! I can't wait!!" he said and ran around the garden happily.
She thought about what he said and nodded her head. "You are right Sess-chan! I'll teach you all the games that I can remember!!" She suddenly heard a screechy voice yelling for Sesshomaru. "Sesshomaru-sama!! You need to go to the dojo so you can train with Inutaisho-sama!! Sesshomaru-sama!! Where are you??" Kagome looked over to her new friend and smiled sadly. "I have to go now Sess-chan. I don't want everyone to know that I am here and if they did, I would have to go. Sayonara for now, I will see you tomorrow." she said and disappeared as Jaken appeared in the gardens.

Jaken couldn't find the hidden Sesshomaru and continued to look for him all over the castle. Inutaisho was getting tired of waiting for Jaken to find his son and decided to find him himself. He stepped out of the dojo and followed his son's scent to the gardens. He came to the gardens and smelled his son's and another peculiar scent.
Inutaisho's POV
I walked over to where Sesshomaru's scent was the strongest and found him leaning on a tall tree staring at the moon. "Sesshomaru. Didn't you hear Jaken calling for you? It is time for us to spar and you are in the gardens hiding. Who was here with you? I smell the scent of Jasmine, ice, cinnamon, and vanilla." Sesshomaru looked up to me and answered tiredly "I didn't hear anyone calling for me otusan. I was sitting here in the gardens because it is quieter here. No one was here with me. You smell one of the kitsune cubs that won't leave me alone when I come near their den." he yawned and settled on his side, closing his eyes and snuggling into his tail that was wrapped around him. "I'm too sleepy to train right now otusan. Can I do it tomorrow??" he asked before he fell asleep on the grass.
Inutaisho sighed and picked up his sleeping son and headed for his room. 'Yes, we can train tomorrow my son. I will find out who was with you in the gardens. I know that you were hiding something when you said that no one was with you. Kitsunes don't smell like that. They have a different scent to them. That scent reminded me of someone that I have met before but I can't place my claw on it.

Sesshomaru sighed contentedly in his sleep. He could tell tht his friendship with Kagome will last a long time.
