Chapter 1: An Early Birthday Gift

Kagome set the pan on low before turning around and chopping up some lettuce and tomatoes for a salad. She was pretty excited, in a couple days, she would turn twenty. She only hoped it would be a good day for her but only god knew how that day would be. While she was thinking still about what she would like, a knock came to the door.

She frowned slightly, it was pretty late for someone to be knocking on her door, but she trusted her instincts and went to get it. The knocking became more exclamatory and she trusted herself enough and whenever she was living to open the door. When she did, she smiled, it was only her grandfather with an annoyed look on his face.

"Grandpa..." said Kagome brightly

"Kagome Higurashi, why does it take you forever to answer the door?" he asked a bit inpatient

"Sorry, I was just cooking some late dinner, why don't you come in and I'll make you some tea?"

"I'll come in but no tea, thank you but I'm in a hurry"

"What is it this time?"

"Well, I have this antiques show to attend and its tomorrow so I'll be out of town for about three weeks..."

"Oh, you won't be here for my birthday!" exclaimed Kagome with a pout

"Well, sweetie, that's why I dropped by...I wanted to give you an early present"

"Oh, yippee!" she exclaimed, holding her hands together

"Yeah, well, this is your gift" he grumbled and reached into his suitcase, pulling out a box

She looked at the box in luminous red paper with a big red bow on the top. She smiled and took the box from her grand father's hand, knowing it was not good manners to open it in front of her grand father but knowing him, it was probably one of his weird antiques.

"Thank you"

"You're welcome, it's a doll, it's about 500 or 600 years old, you're a miko so you might be able to find something about it"

"Grandpa, I'm not a miko, I study psychology...either way, if it's that old, I don't want to risk having it fall apart."

"Oh, well, Kagome...I hope you like it...I have to go, I'll talk to you later sweetie, bye"

"Bye grandpa, love you!" she waved goodbye, watching her grandfather leave thru the front door

She was in long yoga pants and a camisole; she was cool so she went to get some socks before coming back in the living room and looking at the present before starting to carefully unpack it. She opened the box and took out the doll; it was almost as big as a cabbage patch baby doll. It was cute, really adorable if you ask. It had two yellow buttons for eyes, white and silky hair on the top of the big football plushy head. It had two stripes on each cheek and some on it's wrist, and he had a blue moon on its forehead. It even had a little outfit; it was a white kimono with some different prints on it. It had black boots and it was so cute.

She held it to her chest and gave it a big hug. It was just too cute for words and she liked that. She ran her hands through its hair and thought.

'Silver hair, where do I remember that from?' she thought to herself

"Heh, you must think I'm crazy my little plushy, it was as almost if I knew you...but no, you're a little doll, just a little adorable doll..." she laughed at herself

She lifted herself up and walked to her bedroom, setting the doll in between her pillow and tucking it in the comforter. She kissed its forehead and smiled before bouncing back to the kitchen to finish her food.

While Kagome began to cook food, she begun getting some weird memories. The memories were odd and she just got a string of flashbacks.

"Inuyasha...Osuwari!"

"Good boy"

"Don't treat me like a dog!" yelled a gruff voice

"Sit! Sit! Sit! Sit! Sit! Sit! Sit! Sit!"

"Do you think we can come back before Saturday?"

"Sure, why not?"

"Really?"

"Not that I know what "Saturday" is"

"My apologies...I thought you two were merely companions but Inuyasha is

in love with Kagome"

"What?? You idiot! This girl is just my jewel detector!"

"Jewel detector?!? That's right, Inuyasha is already interested in someone...

and Miroku's much nicer"

"Get away Inuyasha...INUYASHA" (A/N: I can't remember if it goes like that or not, I think it does)

Kagome shook her head and suddenly stored her food in small containers and put it in the refrigerator. She had lost her appetite because she was stressed. She was hurt because she wouldn't remember what ever happened to her. She never knew the silver headed boy, she didn't remember the 'demons' or Sango, she only knew what her flashbacks told her. She knew that she had lost consciousness and in mysterious ways, her memory was wiped from those times she spent with this one called Inuyasha.

It made her sick to her stomach to know that the only things that came back were blood. She saw the silver headed boy die and she just did not want to admit it. It was like a bad nightmare after watching a horror movie. She did not know if she loved him or not, she could not by any means remember.

The doll reminded her of someone she thought she had at least seen once or twice. The name would not come to her but she knew he was some type of royal figure. He carried a small girl in a orange and white kimono and the rest was blurry. It was hard to remember too much in one day, the doctor had advised her against it.

She shook her head and decided to go to bed; maybe she could get some of the tension off of her. She had thought of too much and probably over stressed herself, since her shoulders were tense and her back was hurting.

As she slid into bed, she held the doll close to her sleeping form. It was soft and comfortable like a teddy bear would have been. She smiled against its face and fell asleep.

---------------------

As Kagome woke up, she noticed the doll was right in front of her. It was still soft and it was so adorable. She turned to lay on her back and picked up the doll in her two arms. She looked at it before beginning to talk to it.

"You're adorable, did you know that? I guess you've never been told that, have you?"

"..."

"I wonder were you come from, a little girl probably made you to play with her...but I won't play with you I'll give you bunches of hugs."

"..."

"You know what? My boyfriend is a total jerk, I wish I could assassinate him, he's an asshole"

"..."

"Yes, you keep looking cute...love you too" she said brightly and kissed its cheek, setting it down and jumping in the shower.

Kagome sat under the shower spring, the water flattening her black hair against her head. She was a bit tired and she had an exam a little later on today, around three this afternoon. She closed her eyes and tried to remember anything that would come into her mind about the psychology exam this afternoon. Only more flashbacks.

"You are such a nuisance"

"I am not feeling very magnanimous"

"You idiot"

"I see you cannot wield your own sword, Inuyasha"

"You worthless half-breed"

"Remember your past Inuyasha. You lost your heart to a mortal and ended up under a spell for years. Consequently you have no right to be part of this battle."

"Half demon though you are, the blood of a demon runs in you. Be proud of that. Do not accept human aid even in death."

"Sesshomaru"

"Sesshomaru"

"Sesshomaru-sama"

Kagome's eyes popped open. That was his name, the person who tried to always fight 'the silver headed boy', this one was the one she had looked for help but never did. That is why the Inuyasha boy died. This one was the one whom she when she saw the doll. Kagome let the name roll off her tongue, trying to sound out every single syllable.

"Sesshomaru"

---------------------------

THUMP

'What is this?'

THUMP

'The spell was broken'

THUMP

BOOM

--------------------------

Kagome heard something crash outside in her bedroom. She heard a large thump and she was extremely concerned. She quickly wrapped a silk robe around her wet body and ran out of the bathroom cautiously, something sharp in her hand.

As she stepped from the bathroom she noticed that her doll was missing. She walked over to the other side of the bed and saw an unconscious man on the floor. He had long silver hair and stripes, even the same kimono as her doll. Then Kagome gasped, this was her doll and it was life sized.

She kneeled back on her feet and looked at the male. It was beautiful, yet, she had to help him up. She picked up his face and then it suddenly nuzzled her stomach softly.

"Thank you, mistress..." the male shuddered

"Mistress? What? What are you talking about?"

"You have broken the spell, I belong to you, and I am yours now"

"What? Who are you?"

"Sesshomaru"

"Sesshomaru? Sesshomaru, the lord Sesshomaru?"

"I know of no such thing, only servitude, I am yours" he lied about not knowing about his past

"I...I couldn't possibly have a slave...I..."

"I-If you do not desire to keep me, you are free to sell me, whatever my mistress wants"

"I-I...um, I need to change Sesshomaru" she said and he promptly got up and walked out of the door

She sighed and was totally bunked. What in the whole had just happen? Did she actually have a slave now? And, he did not look human, when she was studying being a priestess, she learned of the youkai and the hanyous, but she never thought they still existed. She knew nothing about this creature yet, it offered itself to him.

She heard the phone ring so she retrieved it. She sighed carefully before dispersing a greeting.

"Hello?"

"Hello, ma'am, we have been getting signals that one of our slaves is at your house"

"Slave, what?"

"It's an inu youkai, about six feet tall and long silver hair?"

"Yeah"

"Yeah, well, thank you ma'am, for breaking that damn spell, we'll pick him up in a second" said the man and hung up, not giving Kagome a chance to respond

She changed into suitable clothing and as soon as she was finished, she heard a knock come to her door. She went past Sesshomaru who was obediently standing outside her door and opened the door. There stood three men and a leash.
