Carriage Ride

A Dream of Love

Chapter 1 carriage ride

By Goddess

This was a story passed down to me from my mother, as it was passed down to her from my grandmother. This is a story of long ago, well maybe not. You see my name is Kagome Higurashi and this is my story.

The sunlight hit my face, causing me to shield my eyes. Working on this farm would be the end of me.

I bent back down, and began to plow the dry red dirt again. The sounds of drumming made me stand tall and look towards the horizon.

That could only mean a royal was on his way through our village. I walked to the edge of the road along with all the other villagers.

Samurai Soldiers were first to appear over the large grassy hill, followed by the carriage the noble was to ride in.

All the other villagers fell down in a bow, but I refused to. After the king had died, the nobles had done nothing for any of the villages. They spent their time counting money and playing court games, at least that's what I had heard.

My knees began to tremble as the procession grew closer, but I would not bow to some pig of a noble. I had no respect for this person even if it was the prince himself.

They came to stop right before me. A soldier stepped in front of my, he clearly wanted to impress who ever was in charge.

"Why aren't you bowing like all the rest of the peasants and low life's?" he asked as he looked me up and down. "I don't bow to pigs!" I said trying to hold my voice at a steady level.

The soldier kicked me in the stomach forcing me to my knees; He raised his sword over head when a deep voice called out. "Wait!" from inside the carriage.

I watched from where I lay on the ground as a gloved hand appeared soon followed by a handsome man.

I watched as the ivory color skin hit the sunlight giving him an angel like look, His silver hair and golden eyes shining like gems in candle light.

"Why do you refuse to bow to me?" he asked his expression never changing. "I have no respect for a man who can't take care of even one village!" I said my stare never leaving those cold eyes

"I know not of what you speak my half brother Inuyasha is in charge of this village." He said a look of boredom running through his eyes.

"Well then I would like to talk this inuyasha!" I said hoping he would take me with him. He bent down to the level I was and grasped my chin between his thumb and his index finger.

"You do know I could have you killed and no one would care." He said making chills run up my spine.

"I will take you with me if only to see the look on my brother's face when you chew him out." He said a hint of amusement.

A guard came over offering to pick me up, but with out a second glance to the guard he picked me up and put me in his carriage. With his arms around I began to get a warm fuzzy feeling that ran right through me.

I sat down across from him and watched as he waved away the guards. "Whets your name?" he asked me.

"My name is kagome Higurashi, and if I may be so bold what is yours?" I asked as the carriage made several bumps successfully making me hit the sides as he sat gracefully still.

He looked me over before answering "My name is Shessouramu Takashai, Heir and rightful owner to the western lands."

"So that makes you some sort of prince right?" I asked looking out the small window that was to my left

"yes." Was his only curt reply, for a while all remained silent. I took this time to sneak looks at the royal sitting across from me.

His silver hair reminded me of the fresh falling snow on a full moon night when everything seems so bright it could blind.

His eyes seemed to be a fire all their own with reds and yellows, gold's and oranges that made my heart do flips.

I tried not to look too much and finally just ended up looking out the window and at the scene that seemed to go by slower and slower.

(Shessys POV)

"So that makes you some sort of prince right?" She asked trying to look interested in something outside the window.

"yes." Was the only answer I would give her for now. It became silent , and as the carriage bumped along I noticed every few minutes she would glance at me.

Finally she sighed and just stared out the window. Now it was my turn if she could stare so could I.

Those deep sea blue eyes seemed to dance with some secret my heart ached to know, I moved so I could get a better look at her.

Her Raven black hair seemed to flow in waves down her back, as her tan skin seemed to glow with a super natural light.

She was dressed in rags just like ever other peasant or villager I had seen, but some how she still looked noble and beautiful even in them.

" If you wanted to stare all you had to do was ask." She said her angelica voice taking me by surprise.

" I only wanted to see the trash my brother would half to deal with." I said watching as her tempered flared.

She glared at me then became silent for the rest of the ride. We reached the castle an hour later.

I stepped out first since I was the noble and as I turned around to tell her to follow the servant, I didn't expect to see her falling towards me.

Apparently she had tripped and fallen right into my arms. When I looked up our lips were mere inches apart.

A beast within me howled to take her lips and keep them locked in a sweet passionate kiss, but I hardly knew the girl and it would not have proper behavior for a prince.

Sadly and quietly I sat her on her feet and walked away, only to hear her following me.

(Kagome's POV)

I watched as he climbed out of the carriage and decide it would be best to follow him, he turned around to tell me something and as I looked up I tripped over a step and fell into his arms.

His lips were so close I could feel the warm, sweet breath coming from them. He suddenly sat me up and turned and walked away.

Butterflies played in my stomach like children at a birthday party. I followed him knowing not what to do?

Ok so thanks for reading hope you liked it please review!
