Never is a Promise I'll Never Make by Aria

Prologue

It was dark, cold....and lonely as always. The warmth and meaning in her life was gone. He had taken it with him when he left. She could still recall his last words spoken before he walked out the door "You are nothing to me." Never before had she been hurt by five words. Tears sparkled in the corners of her eyes, as she tried to keep her pain concealed.

"I will be strong" Kagome said to herself as she clutched the pillow tightly to her face, hoping that it would suffocate the pain.

Kagome was soon asleep, and her ragged breaths became even. Her dreams were filled with what had been, and what could have been. She would dwell in her pain and self pity, just this once, but never again.

Seshomaru walk down the street in his normal casual manner. If you looked closely you could see that he had a litle bit of a jump in his step. He was free, free of commitment, restrictions, and best of all free from her. She had caused him much pain when she cheated on him. At first he didn't beleive what Kagura was saying; for he knew that she was jealous of his and Kagomes relationship. But the pictures........that he couldn't excuse. They showed Kagome kissing Kouga and walking hand and hand with him.

" I loved her" he thought and "this is what she gives me." Tears trickled down his porcelain cheeks. He wiped his face roughly, in an attmept to punish himself for being so emotional. He wouldn't cry......He wouldn't cry for her or anyone again. As Seshomaru pulled out his cell phone, he decided that he would go back to what he once was the cold, uncaring ruler of the Western Lands. He would never show loves emotions again.

"I've done it! I've done it!" Exclaimed a drunk and happy Kagura. She had just received a call from Seshomaru. He told her that he was on his way over so that he could talk to her. Kagura had to conceal the immense amount of joy she was feeling. She quickly acknowledged his statement, and squealed in delight when the phone was back on the receiver. She would finally get what she deserved. She would have the mansion, the jewelry, the cars, the clothes, and the money. Oh yes especially the money Kagura thought.

Kagura staggered over to her couch, that was patched and tattered, and raised her glass of champagne in the air.

"A toast to a scanner, photo manipulation, and my genius."

After downing the champagne Kagura tried to stand up and walk to her room to get dressed for Seshomaru arrival. Her attempts failed, and she stumbled onto the floor. She was about to try again but her head seemed heavy and it hurt too much to try and lift it up. She lowered her head on the ground with a sift thud and swore that after this night she would never get drunk again.
