Prologue

Those who can convince thier mind that they have all the time in the world gain a certain grace all others have forsaken. He had that grace and I envied him for it, but that was back when I still believed he existed. I have long since gotten over my childhood fancy (although it has only been about 5 years). Yet a part of me persists, saying he did exist, I wasn't making him up. Sure I have thought about that possibility, but have deemed it impossible. Afterall he was a demon...and demon's don't exist. Or at least I thought they didn't. That was before I fell into the well, and way after my last meeting with him occured.

On the eve of my fifteenth birthday I was searching in the well of of my family shrine for my trickster cat Buyo. I had been in the dusty shed a million times before and nothing ever happened. So it came as a suprise when an overgrown centipede burst through the wood that covered the dried up well. I had my back to it as it came out and was unaware till four of its hands reached out to grab me from behind, dragging me into the depths of the Bone Eaters Well. That was my first trip through the well that now seems so familiar. Mistress Centipede, as she came to be called, pulled me not only through the well, but through the warp of time, transporting me 500 years in the past.

That was where I first met InuYasha, demon number two, who looked like a child sleeping, pinned to the God Tree. When I first laid eyes on him I stood dumbfounded. Catiously I apprached studying the sleeping man's face as I went.I walked close enough to even pet the triangular dog ears atop his head. After that things happened so quickly it is hard to tell one thing from another. I guess I will just tell the specifics. The most major thing is InuYasha woke up. Once awake he had me pull out the arrow that pinned him to the tree. Once free he attacked the demon, but not before Misstress Centipede sliced a pink orb from my side which I later found out was the Shikon no Tama. With one slice of his claws InuYasha destroyed the largfe bug, but his fun wasn't over yet. Next he attacked me, but not before an old woman named Keade put a subduing spell over him. I then learned of InuYasha's past and about the jewel that had been housed within my body. That night I became entrusted with the responsibility of protecting the jewel. To put it nicely, I failed. The next day a canivorous crow ate the Shikon, and while trying to get it back I shattered the jewel sending it's million pieces flying in each direction. After the unfortunate incident InuYasha and I paired up to gather the shattered pieces. Although he came unwillingly at first, he grew to like me.

It was during our second adventure that I met him. He was after something niether InuYasha or I ever heard of. A legendary sword called Tetsaiga. It turned out that the swords location happened to be in the eye of InuYasha. The sword layed in the gravyard of the late father of InuYasha. Embedded half way in stone Tetsaiga was like another Excalibur, waiting for the right person to draw it. Both he and InuYasha attempted to pull the swrod from its stone but niether could. How ironic, in a wierd way, that it was I who could pull it from the stone. Both of the men were shocked. I ended up giving the sword to InuYasha leading to a battle. In the end he left ine arm short and InuYasha and I continued our journey of looking for the shards with the new addition of Tetsaiga.

That was not the last time we met him. During our adventures He and InuYasha had several fights, but he was not our foe. No, our foe was a half demon by the name of Naraku. This demon had almost as many jewel shards as we. Naraku was born from a human named Onigumo, who really isn't that important. The main thing is on joourney to defeating Naraku we were joined by many different characters, all with the same enemy. Those who have joined us are Mirouku the monk, Sango the demon slayer, Shippo the kitsune and Kirara the fire neko. Together we plan on taking Naraku down. Now I travel with this unlikely group, scouring the whole of Japan. On occasion our paths would collide, but those meetings were far inbetween and did nothing to spark my memories. A dormant part in my mind, sleeping with one eyes open, ready for it's wake up call.
