Cats always land on their feet by o0KittenBlu0o

In the Beginning

Before man, there were cats and demons. Ah, but the cats were special. They were wild and free, and sleek and beautiful. They were graceful and talented. There is a legend about them, a myth, a fairytale of the night of the new moon, when the moon is not seen, yet it is there none the less. The tale starts on one such night, when the goddess of the moon, a cat, comes down to greet her lovely creations of the night.

Her eyes were a blue-white, and her hair was black with stars strung in their strands. Her skin was pale and her lips were of the most beautiful shade of red. She looked around and saw her cats had all come to see her. Cats of black and cats of white, Calico and persian alike all came together. Demonic Cats, even, had come to greet her this night.

"On with the Moon Princess Cat Ball!" She would say and all the cats would dance and play in her glowing glory. Around midnight she would choose the cat whom most deserved to live another life. Old or Young, it did not matter.

On one particular night she noticed an old female cat hiding in the shadows. The female cat walked out and tried to greet the others, but the others were aggressive toward her.

She had a limp in her right hind leg and her coat was torn and shaggy, stained with dirt. She had twisted eyes, reminding one of a tree branch. Old and weathered over the years, no one wanted to be around her for some reason. She soon stood in the middle of the floor, all the other cats running into the shadows and hiding in the trees to avoid her.

She tried to dance, but could not remember the graceful steps of her youth. So, with a beautiful voice she sang. She sang with her heart, and how her memories were all alone in the moon light. How her deepest darkest secret was her wonderful past. She was Glitter, the most glamorous cat that had ever walked the walk, and talk the talk. But there she stood, in her demoness form, her grey-white hair curly and everywhere. Her dress, worn and falling apart, was black and still a little shimmery in the Moon Goddess's light. The cat, feeling still unwanted by the other cats, backed away.

One cat, pure black, reached out to touch her, and she accepted, only to be viciously scratched and hissed at.

The Moon Goddess, knowing the loneliness of this one cat, chose that cat to live on in a new life as a new species, human.

As the human race grew the cat would become a miko for nine lives. On the 8th life she became the priestess Kikyo, but as soon as she was killed she saw the error of her ways and began her 9th life as Kagome. Her powers of cat locked away until she was strong enough. Here is where the story begins...

"Oh god! InuYasha is going to throw a fit! I slept in late again!" Kagome squeaked out and ran around gathering everything. She stumbled down the stairs in a clumsy fashion and grabbed some extra ramen, so InuYasha would be a little happier, and ran out the door.
