Her Legacy

Prologue – Awakening

It was a peaceful day in Sengoku Jidai for the Inu – gang. They were searching the lands for the Jewel shards. Presently, the gang was in a forest. However, everything was brought to a halt when Sesshoumaru appeared.

"I'm here for Tetsusaiga Inuyasha," said the lord of the Western Lands.

"Sesshoumaru! If you think I'm going to hand over my sword to you, then you're more of a baka than I thought," said an enraged Inuyasha.

"I will have your sword. It's rightfully mine". Sesshoumaru then prepared to attack.

On seeing the danger, Kagome, Miroku, Sango, Shippo and Kirara all went to hide behind some a clump trees at the side.

Inuyasha was the first to attack but as usual Sesshoumaru dodged. However, Inuyasha spun around and tried to slash Sesshoumaru with his transformed sword. Sesshoumaru blocked. The fight seemed to go on for hours although it was just for a few minutes.

Sesshoumaru was impressed at how much Inuyasha's fighting skills had strengthened. The hanyou hadn't even used his strongest sword move as yet. The lord was thoroughly impressed but didn't show it on his face. He chose to keep his stoic façade.

On the other hand, Inuyasha was annoyed. For as long as he could remember, his brother always hated him and was jealous that their father gave him the Tetsusaiga. As a result, Sesshoumaru constantly found opportunities to take the sword.

"He's never going to have this sword," thought Inuyasha.

Meanwhile, the others were engrossed in the fight. They were fearful that Inuyasha would lose. Kagome was especially fearful. Inuyasha might have been a baka at times but she didn't want him to die. She was in love with the fuzzy eared hanyou although at times it hurt her to see him with Kikyo. Those were the times she felt hatred towards him, but presently, she was worried for his life.

Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru were presently head to head in the fight. Both crashed their swords against each other. Unknown to them, was that Kagome was about to launch a purifying arrow their way.

Kagome could not bear to see the brothers fight anymore so she quickly took her bows and arrows and launched a purifying arrow to separate them. Sesshoumaru had sensed the approaching threat and quickly jumped out of the way. Inuyasha was in no danger since the arrow wasn't too close to him.

An angry Sesshoumaru looked at Kagome. She suddenly became afraid but was comforted when a voice spoke to her.

Go to him Kagome..............

"What?" Kagome thought, but she had little time to argue. She found that she was being pulled by some unknown force.

The teenager slowly walked over to where Sesshoumaru was standing.

"Kagome! What are you doing?" Sango shouted.

Nevertheless, Sango's words fell on deaf ears. Kagome could not control herself as she walked over to Sesshoumaru. The two stared at each other for what seemed like an eternity.

"What is she doing?" thought Sesshoumaru. He could not believe that this ningen would have the audacity to shoot at him and then walk over to him and do as nothing happened. Furthermore, she was staring at him. No one did that.

"Why can't I look away?" Kagome thought. She thought that by now that she'd be killed. Suddenly, she lifted her hands and traced the markings on Sesshoumaru's face. When she touched the crescent moon on his forehead, she stilled. Flashes of a time before plagued Kagome's mind. She saw a young Sesshoumaru near a pond smiling. Then she saw both of them talking and laughing at that same pond.

Sesshoumaru witnessed the same. He thought that all those memories were buried in the past.

"How could Inuyasha's wench awaken them?"

As Sesshoumaru was distracted, Inuyasha took his sword and swung it so that it would slash Sesshoumaru.

"I'll have to remember to thank Kagome for distracting mister high and mighty for me," he thought.

However, the impact never came. There was a barrier protecting the two beings inside. Everyone else was shocked. The human and taiyoukai inside seemed unfazed.

Kagome suddenly dropped her hands and held her cheeks. What's happening to me? Why am I seeing those things? She closed her eyes and shook her head.

While Kagome was doing that, Sesshoumaru looked at her. He didn't know what was happening. He was about to command the girl to tell him when he saw something flash on her forehead.

"Could it be? Is it her?" he thought. His eyes opened hugely.

On the other hand, Kagome was fighting a battle. She was felt herself changing and didn't know what to do. The voice then came to her.

You must go home. You will understand..................

"Yes, yes. I must go home," she thought. Kagome quickly opened her eyes to see golden ones staring at her. Fear overtook her and she ran.

"I must go home," she said.

Sesshoumaru was not about to let her go. He needed answers so he ran after her. The others did the same.

Kagome was confused. When she saw Sesshoumaru behind her she ran even faster. She did not even realize that her speed was not human. The taiyoukai behind her noticed though. When she finally reached Bone Eater's Well, she quickly jumped in as Sesshoumaru was about to grab her.

When she reached the future, she quickly entered her house. Her mother was there to greet her.

"Mom, what's happening to me? I don't understand. I saw some things," Kagome said as she looked at her nails to find that they were now claws.

"Shhhhhh, Kagome love. It is time that I told you. You're a youkai," said Anna.
