What's Hidden
It started with a glance
It ended with love
Anything else in between...
Well, that's her story
They were at it again.
Sword against sword.
Claw against claw.
Growl against–well, the older of the two seemed to prefer his tactic of 'shut up and fight' against his opponent's rather brash 'snarl, growl and die bitch' style.
"Seriously, this is getting really old." She said with a sigh while she watched the love of her life (who seriously she should have given up so long ago) with his useless attempts to 'subdue' his far more superior opponent.
She was bored.
She was sleepy.
And it seemed her companions shared the same sentiment as well.
So with extended patience they waited...
...A swing here...
And waited
...A swipe there...
And waited
... A little Iron Reaver here...
And waited
... A little Poison Claw there...
And so, after waiting for an extended period of time for their little feud to end, the two brawling dogs finally called it quits. Well, not before the half-demon took a last attempt to behead his beloved brother, which sadly was a failure, thanks to the ever so effective SIT by Kagome.
With what seemed like her hundredth sigh of the day, she went to help her canine friend who was at the moment taking his time kissing the ground. However, as she moved near her much-loved Inuyasha, something made her veins jolt...
He was watching her.
She froze.
She looked back.
Things will never be the same again.
She was alone one night on her way to the ancient well when he graced her with his presence. And after a grand entrance–you know, with all the birds fleeing away, and the sudden stop of incessant sounds–at last, there he stood in all his irrefutable glory.
"Inuyasha's not here." She said while her gaze fell on the evil sword by his waist.
What greatly unnerved her was not the fact that he was looking at her with perhaps the intention of maiming her sweet guiltless little self–it was the looking part she's so unsettled of.
...Silence...
She bit her lip
...Still...
She BIT her lip
...
"I know."
She blinked that all too innocent blink. "Then... why are you here?"
He gave no reply. Instead, golden eyes gazed at her in dark scrutiny.
She twitched uncomfortably.
His eyes traced her face, as if committing to memory its every shadow, its every arc. Then after what seemed like a lifetime of silence, the demon turned and left, leaving questions that were open for her magnificent mind to answer...
And a priestess that was both alarmed and terribly curious.
"Kagome," She said.
The demon before her remained stoic as usual.
Despite his incompetence in social conversation, tête-à-tête, or small talk in short, it didn't stop her from pursuing even just a single word out from the talking-hater member of aristocracy. "You can call me Kagome."
She offered a hand with a smile...
He just stared.
...That innocent looking smile...
"I know."
...That smile she generousl–WHAT?
"What?" The twist of her lips vanished, replaced with a look of surprise.
Then ever so slightly, his lips curved in to a tiny smirk. Though barely visible, it's the very first reaction (aside from his other lunatic expressions, which is nothing at all) she had seen adorn that deadpan face.
However, what caught her really of guard was her success in pulling language out from his mouth. "I am well aware of your name, Ka-go-me."
She tilted her head to look at the man–or rather, the demon standing beside her. A month, it's been a month since this private, strange and silent affair began. Well, when she said silent, what she meant was 'no talking, mind your business, and enjoy the view' with the dog-demon kind of thing.
And now, she was starting to wonder...
Why...?
How...?
When...?
And the most profound, yet sinful question of all...
Could she be...?
"Hey, Sesshoumaru?" She began with restlessness laced with her voice.
The demon merely grunted in response.
"Uhm..." Her fingers played with the hem of her short pea green skirt. "I just wanted to say I... that I..." Her eyes fell on a likely spot, the ground.
The silver-haired lord turned his head to look at the human female whom he had grown so accustomed of. "Spill it out, woman." He said in his typical emotionless voice.
"I–"
Crimson hue tinted her cheeks. "I..." Her eyes filled with determination. "I love you." She bit her lip while she took a peek at the demon through her lashes.
He was silent
Too silent for her liking
So she started with what she typically does in embarrassing times like this...
She babbled. "I don't know why but it just happened it's not like I asked for this and you're not exactly helping having a face to be glorified" A slip of a tongue. She turned redder, if that's even possible.
"It's okay if you don't feel the same way" She went on, "But I want to know if you feel the same way don't worry I'm not asking for any commitments here I just want to know but I know you don't care but I do and it's really okay if you don't–do you love me?" There! She said it alright, though not in the way she predicted.
She raised her gaze to look at the demon lord and waited...
...
......
"Don't delude yourself with such a petty fantasy." He suddenly replied, his face unreadable.
"But I... these past few months we, you–" She began but paused. She knew she had no right talking him into feeling the same way. She had no right to explain what–he–felt. So instead of shaking him until he would finally realize that he felt the same way, she dropped her gaze and backed down, accepting the price of telling.
She didn't look up when he walked away, even though there's a possibility that this could be the end to their odd yet pleasing rendezvous...
Thanks to her stupid mouth
Her stupid self
Her stu–
"You already know the answer to that question." His voice, from out of the blue, echoed through her ears.
She swiftly raised her head.
There he stood not a few feet away from her.
"You... I thought you left." She said with mouth wide, and cheeks red. However, what stunned her was not the fact that he stayed. Don't get her wrong, of course she was beyond content knowing that he didn't leave. It's just that when you look closer–and she meant thoroughly, exceedingly close–you will see that unmistakable tenderness that wasn't there moments ago.
"Sesshoumaru..." She whispered as her eyes began to moist with the sudden realization...
Though it wasn't said out loud...
He loves her
And it's for real
With no dead bitches attached
"I'll see you tomorrow, Kagome."
Once there was a girl
She fell
She loved
And anything else was history
