Chapter 1: Night Of The New Moon

"KAZE NO KIZU!" Could be heard echoing throughout the empty forest, leading to a clearly enraged inu hanyou battling his older brother in a clearing just outside the western lands. The remainder of the group decided it was best not to interfere with sibling rivalry and stood on the sidelines, watching and praying that their friend would be okay.

"You bore me, little brother." Sesshomaru spat, grabbing the hilt of his toukijin and glaring at Inuyasha. "This will all end now!" And with that, he sprinted forward, hoping to catch his younger sibling off guard.

Inuyasha smirked, "You're damn right it will!" And tetsusaiga was drawn and transformed in an instant. Inuyasha leaped toward Sesshomaru, concentrating on the older youkai's movements before deciding what actions to take.

When they reached each other, Inuyasha raised his sword and brought it down harshly onto the ground, growling as Sesshomaru dodged. He turned towards his brother, who had obviously predicted his move and slashed Inuaysha in the side. The hanyou cursed and brought his hand up to cover the blood that was now pouring freely from the wound. When he went to turn around and face Sesshomaru, he wasn't there.

"Shit!" Inuyasha swore when he saw Sesshomaru closing in on his friends, everyone going into a defensive stance before Kagome. Sesshomaru studied them all carefully, and held his hand up behind him when he felt his brother's aura shift. Inuyasha sat up and ran forward, straight into a barrier. "Fuck Sesshomaru!"

"What would infuriate you the most? This young women perhaps, would do the job just fine." Kagome let out a scream as she backed up, her friends drawing their weapons; ready to protect her at any cost. Sesshomaru almost smirked when his brother's scent began to change and the hanyou's anger overpowered his scent.

"Don't you DARE touch her Sesshomaru!" Inuaysha charged forward, Kagome's name ripping from his throat as he raised the tetsusaiga above Sesshomaru's head. The youki cloud formed under Sesshomaru's feet and he was carried away, "So it's settled then." He said before flying off into the distance.

Kagome was in Inuyasha's arms almost instantly, and then before she could return the awkward embrace she was pushed away. This seemed to happen a lot lately, it was like he didn't know weather he wanted to be with her or not. If it was up to her he would have made up his god damned mind already instead of messing around the way he had been as of late.

"Inuyasha? Are you all right? She brought her hand up to touch his side and pulled it away quickly when he hissed and flinched away from her touch. "Come on, I'll need to clean it before you get an infection." Inuyasha "feh'd" and nodded, following her to her backpack where she got out the needed supplies and continued to clean and bandage the wound inflicted by Sesshomaru.

Inuyasha was glad the fight hadn't gone any further, but why had it ended so abruptly after Sesshomaru saw the way he was protective over Kagome? Was he up to something? He had to be, there was no other reason he would have ended the fight instead of waiting until he had the victory. Sesshomaru had plans, and they included Kagome.

"Why the thoughtful look?" Kagome asked, sitting down next to Inuyasha. "You look like you're going to kill someone!" Kagome smiled sweetly up at Inuyasha, and frowned when all he did was look away from her. What was wrong with him lately? Did he not know what he wanted? At any rate, Kagome was tired, as were the others, and she was in the mood to camp.

"Look, I know that we're on the border of your brother's lands and it's kind of dangerous-" Inuyasha scoffed, "KINDA?! Sesshomaru's up to something and I don't want you going anywhere by yourself, you hear me?" Kagome sighed, this was hopeless.

"We're staying here tonight whether you like it or not!" With that, she stood and stormed off to where Sango and Miroku were sitting around the fire. "Sango-chan, would you like to take a bath with me?"

Sango shook her head, "Not tonight, I'm tired, besides, I bathed this morning, remember?" Kagome nodded and bent over to pick up her yellow backpack. "Well, I'm off to the hot springs, keep an eye on Miroku for me, would ya Sango-chan?" Sango smiled and nodded her head while Miroku pouted and an innocent look was plastered onto his boyishly charming face.

Kagome rolled her eyes and walked away, heading for the hot spring.

Sesshomaru flew back to his castle, pondering the many ways he could abduct the priestess. It wasn't normal like him to do things like this, and he would generally have more pride, but he needed the tetsusaiga. Naraku had threatened him and he needed his brother's sword to defeat him once and for all.

Sesshomaru didn't even attempt to reason with his brother, for he knew that it wouldn't matter what he had to say, Inuyasha would never give up their father's sword, not without reason at least.

FLASHBACK

If you TAKE the sword from your brother, it will not allow you to touch it, am I correct?" Mikazuki looked hopefully up at the demon lord, hoping he'd struck at least some interest with his chosen topic.

"And what would you suggest then, half breed?"

Mikazuki sighed, glad to know that he had a chance of coming out of this alive. "Well, all I'm saying is that if you acquire something more valuable to him, then he'll undoubtedly hand over the sword without second though."

Sesshomaru went over his options in his mind and came to a conclusion. 'That girl, the human miko. If I can get her from him and manage to keep her alive and well for some time there's no way he wouldn't give me the sword in return for her life.'

"For your information, which I do find vital, I will show you mercy, but next time, half breed, have no doubt that I WILL kill you." And after the boy left, Sesshomaru also left, in search of his brother to confirm his certain knowledge.

END FLASHBACK

'Tonight,' Sesshomaru thought greedily to himself. 'Tonight, I will have that girl in my possession.'

Sesshomaru easily sniffed out Kagome's scent, it was strong after all, and very distinct, sakura blossoms, she actually smelled decent for a human. When he found her, she was dressing from her soak in the hot spring and gathering all of her supplies into the yellow pack she always seemed to carry with her.

He stalked slowly behind her, careful not to make a sound and remain undetected while she was lost in her own little world. Once close enough, he threw his hand over her mouth and placed a claw against her neck.

Kagome instantly froze. 'Inuyasha!' Her mind called to him, desperately wishing for him to come to the rescue as he always did. 'Why doesn't he sense danger?' Then she remembered, the information that could someday possibly be, the death of them all, tonight was the night of the new moon.

There was no way he'd sense danger if it were just around the corner! He didn't know she was in trouble, Kagome doubted he even knew she was at the hot springs. 'He told me not to go anywhere alone, I wish I would have listened.'

"You will say nothing, or your life will be forfeit," he whispered dangerously into her ear. Kagome gulped and nodded slowly, her captor removed his hand from her mouth and placed it behind her back, using his tail to wrap around her legs, he lifted her into the night sky.

"Sesshomaru!" Kagome gasped when she saw the golden eyes of her love's brother staring at her as if he was judging her, reading her like an open book. She shivered and looked away, wanting to scream for Inuyasha, but if she did, all that would accomplish is getting Inuyasha hurt.

Sesshomaru took off, his dust cloud moving them quickly toward the direction of his palace. If lucky, they would be there within the hour. Then, he would have a talk with the girl and let her know her place.

Back at camp, the others got restless in their wait for Kagome and turned in for the night. All except for Inuyasha that is, he would never sleep as a mortal, not with all the dangers that threatened him and his friends. He stood up quickly and walked towards the path Kagome had taken to the hot springs only to find that she wasn't there.

His body tensed as he alerted himself to the area around him, finding nothing out of the ordinary. HE growled as best he could for being a human and walked through the nearby forest, checking for at least a sign that she had been there. There was nothing. He couldn't catch her scent in any direction, but no normal human could.

A picture of his brother popped into his mind and he ran back to camp. "Kagome's missing!" Sango sat up groggily and Miroku was on his feet in seconds, helping Sango to stand as well.

"Inuyasha?" Sango asked "What do you mean missing?" Sango gently lifted Shippo and Kirara into her arms and walked over her friend whose face had worry etched across it. "Do you mean she hasn't come back yet, or do you mean you look for her and couldn't find her?" Sango brought a hand up to her lips to stifle a yawn.

Inuyasha scoffed. "I mean what I said, she's missing! I went and looked for her when she didn't come back and I didn't find her anywhere." Inuyasha turned around and walked away from the groups. "Let's go." He said, not having the slightest clue of where to begin his search. Sango and Miroku followed, Miroku walking Kagome's bike and Sango carrying two sleeping youkai.

"The only thing I can think of is Sesshomaru and even he is a long shot." Sango and Miroku followed silently behind him, both worried about their friend, and hoping not to run into trouble until Inuyasha got his powers back. Who knows what would happened if Sesshomaru really was the culprit, and they encountered him while Inyuasha was human. They would all surely be killed.

Pretty soon Inuyasha was running alongside Sango, who was riding on Kirara and Miroku who had decided to jump on Kagome's bike to speed things up. Sango was slipping in and out of sleep while Miroku fought to keep his eyes from closing, if only for a second.

"Look, if something happens tonight, nobody will be ready for it." Miroku started. "I can see how worried you are for Kagome, and we're worried as well but we can't go on all night with no sleep." Inuyasha came to an angry halt and turned to glare daggers at the monk before slightly nodding his head.

He really wanted to make sure Kagome was okay, but even he knew that they couldn't function without sleep, and right now, he was vulnerable to anything and everything that decided to attack them until his powers returned.

He wouldn't let injuries from being stupid delay the rescuing of Kagome!

A/N: Okay, there's the first chapter, it's shorter then the original chapter but it's more in character then the other was as well. We all know Sesshomaru would never do such a thing as to kidnap Kagome but the reasoning was explained in the beginning, and Naraku will take a great place throughout the fic.

Well, let me know what you think, I'll update the next chapter as soon as I re write it the way I wan it to be!! Don't forget to review! ^_^
