// Where do I begin?

There's so much I want to say

To make it easier //

Let me tell you a story. A story about two completely different people who found love in each others arms. Found hope in each other when there seemed to be none. Found light within each other during their darkest hours. Found a future within each others smile. Found the fairy tale ending they both seeked. But, this story isn't a fairy tale. Neither of their lives were perfect or picturesque. Theirs were lives of pain and loss. Death and destruction. Self mutilation and suicide. Friends and foes. Light and darkness. Victory and defeat. Love and betrayal. A Shakespearian tragedy. A story that should never be forgotten.

// Tomorrow's on its way

Do you believe

I want to take your painful memories?

I know you want to run away

I know that you can't see tomorrow //

Our story begins in feudal Japan. The hunt for the sacred Shinkon no Tama continues. The small group of shard hunters searched furiously for shards of the jewel. They hanyou, Inuyasha, worked his companions to exhaustion. They stopped to rest for the night in a small clearing in the woods. The small fire burned, cooking the fish they had caught from the stream near by. The stars shined above as they talked about the days events. They laughed and cried. They had battled Kohaku, Sango's brother, that day. That was the most evil thing Naraku had done. Controlling Kohaku so he could kill some of them. How low would that foul beast go to win? Very low was the answer.

When the group was going to sleep, Inuyasha left. Curious as to where he was going at midnight, Kagome followed him. She followed his silhouetted figure in the sky until she heard voices. She stopped just short of another clearing and waited to catch her breath. She peaked through the vegetation to see two figures within the clearing. She listened carefully to their conversation. They were speaking of her, of her soul. They were plotting, plotting how to get it and the jewel shards from her. What Inuyasha said broke her heart. She wanted to run far away but she couldn't find the strength with in herself to do so. She was stuck, with two people who wished for her death. She could no longer see the hope that tomorrow was supposed to bring.

The tears fell like rain. Night upon night of this silent torture. She couldn't take the pain. Her heart was broken into a million pieces and they were so small, you couldn't see the fragments. She had tried to mend her heart but failed. Without her heart, she felt dead. Her flesh cold and her eyes hollow. She shied away form her friends, for fear of the pain to come again. Every night she would run deep into the forest just to get away. She would sit in a clearing and cry. She could cry till sun up, then she would return and travel with her friends again, the pain still present.

One night, however, would be different. For on this night, a chance meeting will lead not only her but her future love on a path of self destruction. The moon shone brightly in the sky as she cried again. Her tears flowed like a river from her eyes. Her sobs racked her body painfully. Her eyes raw, her lungs sore and her throat in pain, she continued to cry. Soon, she threw her head back and yelled to anyone who could hear.

"Why me?"

As she began to cry again, some one approached her. He had heard her yell to the heavens and her painful sobs. He wanted to know what could cause someone as pure as her to be in so much pain. He approached cautiously, hoping not to startle her. He entered the clearing and slowly walked to where she sat. The scent of salt flooded his nose along with pain and suffering. He sat next to her and placed his newly regenerated hand upon her shoulder, careful not to startle her.

She looked up toward him slowly. Her red, tear-stained eyes showed clearly through her black bangs. To his surprise, she wasn't afraid of him like she usually was. She seemed relieved that he was there with her. He, unconsciously, reached up and wiped away her tears. She gave a shadow of a smile at the gentle action. After she had calmed down, she leaned in and gave him a hug. It was a warm and loving embrace. He smirked at this as he returned the embrace. As they hugged, she whispered into his ear.

"Arigato SesshoMaru Sama."

He whispered in return.

"Douitashimashite Kagome Chan. I will always be here to help dry your tears."

// Yesterday is gone

And everything that made you cry

Has fallen to the ground

I'm here to bring you home

I will always take you back

You haven't let me down

I know you want to run away

I know that you can't see tomorrow //

Months went by. Still no Naraku, no shards but Kikyo did die. She had been murdered by an unknown demon. Inuyasha mourned for days while everyone else wasn't affected. Especially Kagome. She didn't care whether Kikyo was dead or alive, it didn't matter to her. Nothing did. Only her secret meetings with SesshoMaru mattered. She looked forward to them every evening. Unlike her friends and Inuyasha, SesshoMaru accepted her for who she was for the reason he didn't know who Kikyo was let alone that she was Kikyo's reincarnation. He only saw Kagome and that made her feel special. She could always go to him when she needed comfort, he would never forsake her. When she was with him, she felt the hope that tomorrow truly brings.

She ran through the forest, her eyes stained with tears. No matter how much she wanted them to, the tears wouldn't stop. The pain she felt was just too much. She ran into a clearing. She sat and waited. She waited for him for hours. It was almost dawn and he hadn't come. Her heart sank. Why had he not come? He always came. She didn't understand. Had he given up on her? She felt cold, frozen without him. The tears began anew as she waited. She waited till way past dawn. He still didn't show. Doubt clouded her mind. Shattered hope cut her lifeline as she fell apart. Everything that held her together was thrown away. Her world shattered. The pieces of which could never be repaired.

// And when you're feeling all alone

And you can't go on,

Remember I am here

And when you think

You've gone too far,

I'll meet you where you are

My arms are open wide //

The icy truth blinded her. She was alone. No one cared about her. She had never had her first love and her second had abandoned her. She cried every night, knowing it hadn't caused her companions pain. She picked up the pieces of her shattered life. Crimson tears flowed freely. Relief flowed through her. The tears were warm against her cold skin. They filled the void within her. She cried these crimson tears for a while. The only sign that she had cried these tears were faint scars upon her arms and dried tears upon her hands. The void within her was overflowing with these tears. She had gone too far when she pulled the tears from her wrists. For a brief moment she felt the pain again but it soon gave way to relief. The tears poured out of her. She covered herself with these tears until her skin was warm. Her eyes lost their shine. Her breaths became few and far between. She was losing herself but she didn't care. No one cared that she would be gone. But she was wrong, some one did care.

The scent of her blood filled his nose as he ran to her. He knew what she had done and it frightened him. He needed to get there, before she left, so he could say what he needed to say. He could hear her breathing, short and shallow. He knew if he didn't hurry, he would miss her. His speed increased. The forest around him became nothing but a black blur. The only thing clear was the full moon. It shown brightly within the sky. It gave him false hope that he would make it. It showed him the way, like a guide. He thanked Kami for it when he reached the clearing and ran to her side.

He knelled down by her side. He caught her gaze and she smiled the shadow of a smile. Tears filled her eyes and her life faded away. He reached out and pulled her, gently, to him. He embraced her. She gave a weak hug in return. She cried into his shoulder as she tried to speak.

"I thought you didn't care, that you had forsaken me."

"I would never forsake you, why would I forsake the one I love?"

She gasped.

"You love me?"

"Yes, Kagome I love you. With all my being."

"I love you too SesshoMaru, with every piece of my broken heart."

He closed the small gap between them. He sealed their lips together in a passionate kiss. She clenched his haraori with all her draining might. One arms held her body to his while his other hand gently held her bloody face. Her arms and hands rubbed her flowing blood all over his back and in his silken hair, but, he didn't care. He was with her, telling her the truth. He was there, in her dying moments. He was there, to lend her his love to help her through. He felt her chest begin to heavy rapidly as her last breaths entered her. He pulled from the kiss and stroked her cheek with his thumb. He wiped away her tears as she opened her eyes to gaze at him for the last time. Her jaw quivered as she tried to speak between her panting breaths.

"I...... Love...... You.......Sessho... Uh."

Her head fell backward as her eyes sealed shut. He held her close praying that she would return. After a moment, her flesh grew cold and pale as her dying blood dried. He laid her body upon the ground gently. He eyes began to fill with tears. They fell freely, marring his face and dropping upon hers. He stroked her face. He leaned forward until their foreheads touched. He cried, his sobbing breaths echoing through the forests. He threw his head back and howled a howl of pain and loss to the full moon shining above. His claws filled with a green liquid as he held them up to his face. The stench of acid filled is nose. He knew what he had to do. He slammed his claws through his battle armor and into the flesh it protected. He grunted as he poured acid into himself. After a moment, he pulled his claws out and felt his flesh and innards begin to dissolve.

He laid down next to her and pulled her cold body to his. He held her in a loving embrace. He traced her face with his fingers, trying to memorize it so he could find her in heaven. He grunted when the acid began to dissolve his intestines and diaphragm. He knew it was almost over. He knew he would see her soon. As his flesh slowly disintegrated, he placed on last kiss upon her bloody blue lips. As he did, he felt his breath leave him and his blood begin to evaporate. He held her closer as his world became dark. He smiled as his acid stopped spreading and he too left the world.

That is the tale young ones. I want you to never forget this story, for it is the story of your ancestors. This was the story of my foster mother, may she rest in peace, and her love. If they had known that their love would end in tragedy, they would not have cared. They were made for each other as far as I'm concerned. I pray that they are happy in heaven. That this tragedy didn't end their happiness. That they had their fairy tale ending beyond the pearly gates. So my children, never forget. This tale of the real life Romeo and Juliet. Never forget.
