Mind Stray by Heza-

The Begining

Kagome fumed down the hall. "Kami, I can't believe that guy. He just drives me nuts sometimes." Kagome had just found out that her new boyfriend, Inuyasha, (who else) was only using her to make his old girlfriend jealous. Kikyou was not one of Kagome's favorite people. In fact, she despised the girl with a passion.

Stuck in her own little word, (Akiame: sounds like me) Kagome didn't realize the really tall and drop dead gorgeous senior, Sesshoumaru. Kagome ran into him headfirst into the guy's very tight, muscular chest. He didn't even flinch. Kagome almost fell when his arm shot out to steady her with lightning fast reflexes. She was spared with minimal damage.

Peering up, she realized whom she had run into. He was probably the most popular person among the school with the ladies, much to Miroku's (who was second in line of the most hansom men in the school) displeasure. Miroku would keep trying as long as he was single himself. Even though Sesshoumaru could get any girl that he wanted, he preferred to be single. It kept him open at the school dances that were few and far in-between.

Kagome thanked him quickly before walking off, entirely unaware she had caused a scene. This confused Sesshoumaru to no end. This girl did not even blush when she looked at his extremely hansom face. Did she dare touch the Lord Sesshoumaru without any fleeting thoughts towards him? He put it in the back of his mind as he walked to his next class in the shockingly crowded halls.

His next class was History; his best class because of his father's many books. He didn't really need to take his last year of high school but he wanted see his last year through. He already had all of the credits and classes that he needed. To him, there was nothing better to do other than sit at home and read in the study, but after reading everything there was to offer, he found reading anything again pointless.

************

Kagome arrived late for her next class. It was on the first floor on the opposite end of the school, while she was on the fifth floor and nowhere near a staircase. It wasn't strange for her to be just a few ten minutes late for class. The school was always packed and it was very difficult to get through the halls at any point in time because the neighboring school burnt down and the students had to go somewhere while the school was being rebuilt. She didn't even think about whom she had run into until she sat down in her desk close to the door. None of the students looked over at her or state her presence to the professor.

The warm-up on the board was a killer. She needed to find what X was in the equation and she just didn't get it. Math was her worst subject. She would never understand anything that was explained to her so that even a child could understand it. She grumbled and wrote down the equation that was on the board, her mind running back to Inuyasha.

Inuyasha was nice and sweat when he wanted to be but other than that, he was just rude, boisterous, and could never get a hint when someone just wanted something that he could give almost willingly even though he didn't want to. He had asked Kagome out when his ex broke up with him. Some say that she even tried to kill him once or twice to get him off of her back. It wouldn't be the first time either that someone had tried to kill him. He was just using her to get what he wanted and that was Kikyou. Did he ever understand that Kikyou was just a clay pot running around in the high school? What Kagome really wanted to do right now was to wring his sorry little...

"Miss Higurashi, do you know that answer to the problem on the board. You seem lost in thought, maybe you would like to share with us what you were thinking about." The teacher criticized her for her obvious lack in attention.

She blushed and looked down at the problem. "I'm sorry Professor but I do not understand how to do this type of Math."

"Well maybe, Miss Higurashi, you would like a tutor to help your concentration and understand?" He left her desk to stand in front of the board and point his pointing stick at the problem after saying, "See me after class Miss Higurashi."

Kagome dazed off again, realizing that no matter how much she listened or tried to follow along that the understanding would never just click. She was more interested in criticizing the stupid hanyou, Inuyasha. No matter how long she lived, Kagome would just never understood a lot of things. Why did Inuyasha ask her out in the first place? Well that answer was obvious, she looks exactly like Kikyou. It was an odd fact but she just looked so much like a person who was the exact opposite of her.

After the bell rang, Kagome went to talk to her professor. He was a 'prick' to her. The guy just loved the fact that one of his students was a dumb idiot. "Miss Higurashi, I am assigning you a tutor. The Buddha knows that you need one. I think that I will give you up to one of my top students from a few years ago. He went through the entire Math courses in just one semester and is such a super genius that he would probably be the only one able to teach you anything. Who knows, he might just rub off on you." He looked entirely too happy.

"Well, who is it?" Kagome was becoming impatient.

"His name is Sesshomaru. I am sure that you know him. He is the most popular student in the school." He was insulting her again but she was powerless to stop it.

It was then that her mind clicked. Sesshoumaru was none other than Inuyasha's half-brother. There were very few in the school that did not fall victim of his charm. She was one of them. Kagome thought that she saw Sesshomaru for who he really was. He was a secluded power happy demon that loved to insult anyone when he had the chance, time, and felt like it.

Leaving the room quickly, Kagome did not give her professor time to finish his ranting. She ran down the hall, running into her friends on the way out the door. They were disappointed that Kagome did not stand up for herself when it came down to the professors insulting her. As for the idea of having the most popular guy in school tutoring her was an entirely different subject. Her friends enjoyed making fun of her when it came down to guys. They really thought that Inuyasha would be a good boyfriend until she told them the news.

"Well that Sesshomaru is supposed to be a really good boyfriend, that is, if you get him," said Eri over her hamburger in Wacdonalds. Kagome blushed a bright shade of red.

"I told you that I am still going out with Inuyasha. I haven't officially broke up with him yet."

"Well you can't expect to stay with someone who can't get their mind off of some other girl that just wants to kill him," said Yuka, being an overly obsessed girl when it came to the topic of boys.

"Yeah Kagome, that can't be healthy at all."

"Well I believe that Kagome should make whatever decision about who she goes out with on her own. Who is to make her decisions for her, even if Sesshomaru would be the obvious decision for any one of us here." Yuri's voice chimed in. (I only really know one of their names. I think Yuri is the other one.) Kagome's friends were really getting on her nerves. She had had enough and decided that going home was the best thing to do at this point in time and as soon as they were all done with their food, they did just that.

When Kagome got home that night, she found it hard to go to sleep knowing that she would be spending her last hour of the day with Sesshoumaru. She was not really looking forward to that happening at all.

Author's note: Well I got my first review. Thank you SeSShieobSeSSed. Akiame will be writing the next chapter, so don't kill me if she doesn't write as fast as I do. *Akiame- Glad to see you have that much faith in me. o_o Heza- Yes I do have faith in you Akiame, really I do. Now don't Kill me. (Runs away from Akiame who just happen to grow fangs and claws.)*
