A Demonic Love Story by aureamarie

Prologue

It has been two years since that fateful day, which lead Kagome – guardian of the shikkon jewel – to the Sengoku Jidai. Kagome's journey through the past with the help of her most loyal companions: Inuyasha, Miroku, Sango, Kiarara and Shippo would determine the fate of the world.

Within the two years of traveling through the Sengoku Jidai, Kagome has learned the true meaning of friendship, love, courage, and bravery. Her desires to protect her faithful companions, future acquaintances, as well as herself have helped her to better develop her innate miko abilities. In fact, as time went by her miko abilities had substantially increased to the point were demons now feared her presence and very existence. To many youkai, she was no ordinary miko. Even Inuyasha, Miroku, Sango, and Shippo could sense Kagome's tremendous powers. Kagome's constant meditations and training of her miko powers over the years has helped her to develop a keener sense of awareness, her fighting skills became more controlled and precise, and needless to say her purity arrows, barriers, and enchantments were deadly to all who posed a threat.

Kagome's newly awakened powers in her miko abilities and her unwavering loyalty to that of her companions over the years has not gone unnoticed. In fact, one person in particular has taken great notice of her and finds himself strangely drawn to the powerful miko. Lord Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha's older half-brother and powerful youkai lord, never thought that he in his wildest dreams would befall the same fate as his father and younger brother. However, as of lately, he has been purposely coming in contact with his brother's small group of companions for the simple reason of just desiring to see the beautiful miko who traveled with his half-witted brother. Sesshoumaru's unholy desire and unexpected attraction towards the powerful miko proves that even he can't escape his family's love and desire towards women not born of youkai blood. The thoughts that constantly plague his mind... what exactly is she? Could she ever care for me the same way she cares for my half-witted brother Inuyasha and that adopted Kitsume pup Shippo? Why is it that she is always on my mind? Why do I have this desire to protect her no matter where she goes? Why do I feel as if I, Sesshoumaru, need her presence in my life?

Little was Sesshoumaru aware that Kagome's feeling for Inuyasha were that of a different nature from what he always thought. It is true that at one time Kagome was in love with Inuyasha; however, Inuyasha's desire to be with Kikyou was much greater to overcome. Seeing this Kagome made the hardest decision of her life and let Inuyasha pursue Kikyou. She stilled love Inuyasha but it was more in the sense of what best of friends share between each other.

The thing that fascinated Kagome most about Inuyasha was his undying love and desire to be with Kikyou. Kagome now finds herself hoping and wishing with all her heart to find a love as great as that of Inuyasha and Kikyou. Kami...is there anyone out there who can love me for me. Kagome always wondered why she was sent into the past was it only for the purposes of the shikkon jewel or was there more to it than that. She did not know.

Strange as it may seem letting go of Inuyasha so that he could openly be with Kikyou felt somewhat of a relief to Kagome. For some time now Kagome's mind has be preoccupied with thoughts and fantasies of another strong - willed amber eyed dog youkai. Who would have ever thought that I would begin to develop feelings towards Lord Sesshoumaru, the powerful youkai who despises all humans? Is there something wrong with me? Why did I ever meet those two youkai? I wonder what Sesshoumaru would ever say if he knew I felt something for him...he'd probably threaten to kill me. Why does my heart always choose unwisely? I still have a lot to learn I guess.

Feelings why do we have to have them. Are they a necessary part of life... Only time will answer that question.
