Kagome Where are you?

Chapter one: The Cube

In my story "when friends find out . . . " I have Sesshomaru approach Inu-yasha/Kagome

attempting to talk . . . It doesn't work. (There is, of course, a fight before he can say anything.) I

have had reviewers ask about what he wanted to talk about . . . this is it . . .

Sesshomaru and Kagome storyline . . . It'll take a while, but, yes, this is my Sess/Kag

romance/storyline.

corrected by Angelica Birmingham. thank you.

Feudal Japan . . . Late Summer/Early Fall. Mid-afternoon.

A path in a forest.

Inu-yasha, as normal, is leading the group. Kagome is behind him, and since they're on level

ground, she is walking beside her bike. She is wearing her normal school uniform and her

backpack is strapped onto the bike. Shippo is in the basket up front, snacking on an apple.

Miroku is walking behind Kagome. Sango is in the rear carrying Kirara. She's wearing her

normal clothes, it is a hot day, so wearing her tight leather suit isn't something she would like to

do for hours at a time.

Sango bends down to pick up a small stone which she throws at Miroku's rear.

"Ouch!" he yells, and turns around. "Why?"

"You're supposed to be watching the forest, not Kagome's hips." Sango grits out.

"I was not watching Kagome's hips." Miroku says.

Sango's eyebrows rise.

"I was watching the butterfly on her hips."

"Pervert! Keep your eyes on the forest!" Inu-yasha yells, "If that happens again . . . " he says in a

threatening tone.

But before this can escalate into something worse, Kagome clears her throat. "How much longer

before we take a break, Inu-yasha?" Kagome asks.

Inu-yasha, without turning around or stopping, points to a hill sticking up above the trees. "When

we get there, woman. The ground will probably be rough enough, that your bike won't work.

We'll have to do something else then."

"Can we take a break sooner?" she asks in a quiet tone.

Inu-yasha turns his head around, but doesn't stop. His eyes narrow as he stares at her. "No."

She bites her lip. "Inu-yasha, I really need a break. Please."

'Why? Today's been an easy march, and she's proven that she can do the marching, so what's up?'

he thinks.

"Please, Inu-yasha. I really need to go into the woods for just a couple of minutes." she blushes

as she whispers.

Inu-yasha blushes. "We'll stop here for a couple of minutes."

"Thank you, Inu-yasha." Kagome whispers. She leans her bike against a tree and starts to go

through her backpack. After grabbing her toilet paper, she vanishes into the woods.

Miroku glances around and sees Inu-yasha, Sango and Shippo staring at him. "What? How many

times do I have to tell you? I'm not a pervert."

As Kagome is replacing her paper, Inu-yasha starts, twirls around and draws his sword.

Sesshomaru steps out from the shadows between a couple of trees.

Inu-yasha growls and takes a couple of steps toward his brother.

"HI! My name is Rin!" a little girl says brightly, as she steps out from behind Sesshomaru.

Inu-yasha, confusion evident on his face, lowers his sword and looks questioningly at his brother.

"Inu-yasha." Sesshomaru says in his calm voice. "I'm not here to fight today. Don't force me to

kill you in front of Rin." His hand is on Rin's shoulder, keeping her from running in front of him.

Inu-yasha growls, but he replaces the sword.

Kagome, after glancing at the others in the group, says, "HI Rin! My name is Kagome!" She

smiles at Rin.

Rin smiles back and holds out a gleaming metal box in one hand. It overfills her small hand.

"Rin has question. Pretty lady has . . " Rin waves at Kagome's bike. "strange metal thing,

perhaps you can help Rin with this?"

Kagome approaches Rin, Inu-yasha growling as she passes him, getting close to Sesshomaru.

"May I?" She asks Rin, doing her best to ignore Sesshomaru. Who, likewise, is ignoring her.

'Good. This is what I attempted to do a while ago, but that stupid fight, it prevented my plan

from working.' Sesshomaru thinks as watches Kagome and Rin talk. 'Ever since I destroyed the

previous owner of that cube, I've wondered about it. It feels . . otherworldly wrong and I cannot

find out anything about it. I need to know more about it, before letting Rin play with it. Inu-

yasha's woman has shown strange abilities and she might possess this information.'

Kagome grabs the object and looks at it. It's not a box, but a metal cube. It is about ten

centimeters to each side. Each side is made up of smaller pieces. She can see that the smaller

pieces can be moved. It looks like something from her time. It looks like a metal Rubik's cube.

While it appears to be made of metal, it looks like gold. But it weighs practically nothing. Each

of the smaller pieces have some marks on them. They appear to be writing, but it's not a

language Kagome's seen before. On one piece is a small light, which glows a deep purple.

"What is it?" Rin asks Kagome.

"I do not know, Rin. It looks like something I've seen before, but how did this get here?"

Kagome says in a distracted tone.

She looks at Rin and asks, "Where did you get this?"

Rin looks at Sesshomaru, then seeing no reaction, she says, "Rin found it when Lord Sesshomaru

killed a demon. It was next to the demon."

"Can I show this to my friends?" Kagome asks. She glances at Sesshomaru, and seeing no

reaction, turns and walks to Inu-yasha, Miroku and Sango.

They pass it around, looking at it.

"I've never seen anything like it?" Sango says. "What metal it is made of?"

"I don't know, Sango. It's so light, it can't be gold, so I thought about aluminum, but the color is wrong."

"I've never seen writing like this. Is this language from your side of the well?" Miroku asks. 'It's

making my mystic senses crawl, like ants are walking over my skin.' He thinks.

"I don't know, Miroku. I've seen a toy that looks like this, but," Kagome shakes her head. "the

writing's wrong. It looks like Arabic, I think. But I've never really studied that language."

"Hmmm . . . " Miroku shakes his head. His fingers trace some of the marks. "Interesting, but I

don't know anything like this."

"What was the demon that had it?" Inu-yasha asks. 'Something about that cube, it's otherworldly.

It sends shivers up my spine. What the hell is Sesshomaru into?' he thinks.

He turns around, and ignoring Sesshomaru and the panting Jakken, who has finally showed up.

Inu-yasha walks next to Rin but stops when he sees Sesshomaru's nostrils flare. "Girl, describe

that demon." He demands.

Rin looks at Sesshomaru.

He says, "It was a demon of unknown type. It had a man-shaped body, but a squid for a head. It

tried a spell to attack this Sesshomaru. That failed, and it didn't get a second chance." His hand

pats his sword hilt and his mouth, maybe, twitched.

Kagome, while this is going on, has opened her backpack. "I've got some paper in here. If I make

some tracing of the marks, I can see what I can find out." She says.

'I was wrong for coming here. They cannot help.' Sesshomaru thinks.

Sesshomaru looks at Inu-yasha. "You cannot help. This Sesshomaru has other duties that require

his attention. Jakken, take Rin. We are leaving."

Sesshomaru, using his speed, goes over to Kagome. He reaches over and grabs the cube in

Kagome's hand.

"Hey!" Inu-yasha yells and tries to react, but he is too slow . . .

The instant Sesshomaru's hand, the cube, and Kagome's hand all touch . . . they vanish.

No smoke, no flash of light. They are just, gone. (Her backpack vanished too, as her other hand

was still in it.)

Everybody blinks, looks at the spot where Kagome and Sesshomaru were, with shock appearing

on all the faces. They look at each other.

"Kagome! Where are you!?" Inu-yasha howls!

Preview chapter 2. My Blanket Scenario . .

{English}

A cold wind, a freezing cold howling wind, is Sesshomaru's instantaneous impression of his new

location.

The howling wind is blowing blinding snow around him. He shifts his feet setting them against

the wind. His feet slide on the ice-covered ground, only his superior reflexes keep him upright.

He glances at the ground, below his feet is white ice. Something instinctive is telling him that the

ice below his feet is many body lengths thick.

A glance around shows that the blowing snow prevents him from seeing more than a bow shot

around. Anything beyond that is lost in the snow. He is in whiteout conditions.

His instincts are screaming at him. He feels wrong, somehow lighter than normal. His mystical

senses are sending him very confusing signals.

Somehow he knows he is not on the world he was born to.

Someone grabs him. Inu-yasha's woman is hanging onto his side.

She looks up at him and yells over the screaming winds.

{"Toto, I've got a feeling we're not in Kansas, anymore!"} She screams in a language that he's

never heard before.

author's note:

Kagome and Sesshomaru . . . how to get them together..I do hope I can put a few twists in the

get them to depend on each other plot.

Hmmm... Please review. See if you can guess where they are... a hint... it's not an anime/manga

location. Science fiction source...

Writing note: I will probably go for smaller chapters with story...

Thank you for reading.
