Beyond the Waterfall by Sess+Kog

Lost

A soft breeze floated throughout the trees. The winds whispered gently into the skys and into the ears of the night. All the occupants of the Nomina Village fast asleep, but one. The songs of the insects and wildlife from the forest, caressed two shells of a womans ear. Her inky black tresses flowed in waves about her relaxed face and miko garbs.

The moonlights rays cast a gentle light down on the woman, the miko of the village. Her tresses almost looked to be outlined in a dark yet soft blue hue. Her pale, soft, plastered skin shown brightly in the dull light of the moon. Eyes closed, she looked as if to be a peaceful goddess, sitting under an old tree of Ages.

Kagome looked out into the nights sky. Her dark blue hued eyes narrowed but at an easy state. 'Something is not right ...' Kagome turned her attention to the now silent trees of the Western Forest. Her eyes darting about, her senses spread. 'Everything seems fine?' Bewildered, Kagome stood from her spot. Her miko energy flaring out and looking for something amiss, she almost had no time at all to dodge a blazing arrow. Her eyes widening as arrows from every other way. Putting her arms up, Kagome erected a barrier over the village. She could hear the villagers screaming frrom teh surprise of being attacked while there miko was on guard. Concentrating harder on the barrier, Kagome gritted her teeth.

Massive demons protruded from the Western forest and began there assualt on the barrier. Ugly snake demons, hordes of insect demons, and a few anonomous demons, crashed there weapons in the barrier. Villagers screamed and ran around teh village as they tried to put out the fires that had been set in there huts. Kagome's forhead was now beaded with sweat as the barrier held strong against teh demons, yet seemed to flicker as more stormed out from the forest. 'How could so many have passed my senses? How could I have not detected these demons?' Kagome questioned herself mentally as she grinded her teeth together.

As what seemed like hundreds of thousands of demons poured out of the forests, Kagome could not hold the barrier any longer. Her arms suddering and her knees buckling, she fell to the ground. As the demons took there oppurtunity to seize the village, Kagome cursed herselgf and stood. Running with great agility, she reached her bow and arrows. Notching an arrow after arrow she cut and peirced through many demons. The villagers screams roared in her ear, as what started out as a calm night now transformed into a blood bath nightmare. Letting out a small gasp of shock, Kagome looked down to her abdomen. A spear protruded from her stomach covered in her own blood among others dried blood. Kagome turned to see her attacker and blinked. A demon the size of a house stared down at her. His menacing blood red eyes seemed to laugh at her yet where intense with hunger.

Kagome scowled disgustedly at the demon and finishing notching an arrow into her bow, she let her miko energy entwine with it. Aiming straight at the demons forhead as it ran at her dephtly, she let the arrow loose. A dark blue and black aura flared around the arrow as it went straight through the deomns skull and through anothers behind it. Not giving the demon another thought she jerked the spear from her abdomen and turned just in time to block another spear.

Healing quickly from her miko abilities, she again shot out at the demons with her arrows. A sickining crack caught her attention as a rat demon bit into teh village elder off to the left. As she stared longingly and forlorn a moment, her attention from the previous demon she had just been ready to kill was knocked off. Letting out a silent ''Omph'' as she was hurled into the air, she cringed. Falling helplessly back down to the ground, as she silently cursed gravity, Kagome landed non to gently on her back. Hearing the sound of her leg braking and feeling the shock of ppain run up her leg, she cried out into the roaring and dark sky. Getting to her feet, much to her dicomfort, Kagome pounded into numerous demons. Her rage from teh surprise attack mounting, she grabbed a sword and prepared to slaughter.

After what seemed like hours of battle, a lone figure slumped to the ground. Kagomes searched over the grounds and what she saw, brought moisture to her eyes. The night still young and the moon still full. Dead bodys and body parts lay scattered over the ground that once was Nomina Village. Burned down huts left there smoke to curl into the cool nights winds. Every inch of the slaughtered village was drenched in fresh and old dried up blood. Her hands shaking, she tried to stand but crumbled to the ground. Letting out a broken cry of loss Kagome broke down into the earth. She had lost her entire life in ...thirty minutes.

Sesshoumaru looked out over his lands. This night felt so different from all the others. Something had pricked his senses and warned him, but being Sesshoumaru he thought nothing of it. Long silver silky strands floated dreamily into the wind. Anyone woman lusted after his hair Sesshoumaru knew. Running a clawed flawless hand through his glorious hair he dimissed the idea of the stupid wenches. 'They are all weaklings to this Sesshoumaru.'

His mask staying steady, he looked out over his lands once more from the misty cloud he stood on in the sky. His golden intense and heated orbs caught sight of a small smoldered smoke. Floating slowly in an uninthusiastic manner towards the smoke, his ears twitched as a heart wrenching cry ripped through the sky.

As Sesshoumaru reached the edge of a forest, he immediately wrinkled his nose In disgust. 'Blood ...hanyou, human, and demon blood.' Feeling as if he could get internally sick, Sesshoumaru shook it down. He would not be a weakling and cower from a simple smell. Walking indifferently out of teh forests line, his eyes widened somewhat at the sight. Blood, old and new, was wretched averywhere. Body parts of different demons, humans, and Kami knows what, scattered the grounds witch looked to be an old village.

Entering the clearing, his sensitive nose protested strongly. His youkai on the other hand howled and growled out it's frustration from not being able to get to the blood. Growling inwardly at his youkai, Sesshoumaru stopped. His nose had sought out some comfort and surprisingly found it. A light sent of sakura blossoms, moonflowers, and fresh evergreens protruded his nose, to it's satisfaction. The scent vague and almost non existant he walked passively towards it. It getting slowly stronger, his youkai and his mental mind praised him for such a find. The peaceful and deluctable scent eased him from his stiffened self if just a little.

His eyes darting to the center of the village, he stopped his quest to get to the gorgeus scent. A crumbled and broken figure caught his attention. Sprawled on her belly a human wench was covered in blood and much to Sesshoumaru's interes, she was still alive. Sniffing a moment he relized teh smell was coming from teh human bitch. Walking towards the human, he noticed the small intakes of breath. Reaching the wench he bent down, witch he had never done for such a lowly figure, and turned her over.

His golden intense orbs softened if so. A beautiful pale and perfect miko faced him. Her face matted with mudd, blood, and gore. Sesshoumaru brushed a clawed hand over the miko's jaw and earned a jerk from the woman. Dark blue almost black pained eyes looked back into his molten orbs.
