Is It Too Late? by Tensaiga

Just the beggining...

Title: Is it too late?

Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha, but if I did Kikyo would be dead. The things I do own are the events that take place, because they are real, and happened in my life in 6th grade.

Rating: PG - 13 (may go higher)

Summary: Kagome Higurashi was a sad girl in her first year of high school. She always put on a fake happiness fooling everyone around her into thinking she was happy. Ever since she started Tama Junior High everything that she spent years weaving started falling apart. Her best friend hung out with other people, and had only one friend who she trusted. Slowly the past was revealed to her; why her dad left, why her family tried to disown her and failed, and why does she feel like she doesn't belong. Kagome kept falling into darkness until a silver haired boy comes to her school claiming to admit that he wished to be her friend. Can he save her from falling into depression... or is it too late?

Chapter 1: Just the beginning...

If you weren't there,

If the stars didn't shine,

If I didn't think you'd be there,

I would hide in fright,

If I knew you'd leave,

If I knew you didn't really care

I would have cried

I was a fool

For thinking you were my hero

For thinking that you were the best

Dear Diary,

There isn't much to say about me. I am Kagome Higurashi. I am a freshman in high school. I know I'm a little old for a diary, but I just can't come to terms with myself and spill my heart to my best friend Sango.

See it all started way back about two years ago, more like three, when everything I had and cared for started falling apart. I was just a sixth grader. I had high hopes for happiness and myself in my mind.

As much as you hate to believe it I used to be shy, timid girl. Most people called me a teacher's pet, because I always used to do everything so perfectly. Personally I hated being called that. I hated knowing that people were my friend because the teacher loved me and they easily took advantage of me because I always gave in unable to argue.

I had a best friend, and still do named Inuyasha. That's right, Inuyasha Taisho. He was a little chubby, but hey so was everyone else. No one cared that they were bad looking, and no one cared about what they did. It was a new school meaning new friends.

Inuyasha and I continued to spend time together. He had told me that I was one of his best friends and it made me very happy. Then his hormonal instincts kicked in. He started to hang out with other people, because I wasn't very pretty. He thought that it would make him popular, but he was wrong...

It was a normal day at Tama Junior High. Kagome was a 6th grader and boy did she feel good. It was a fresh... everything. New School, friends, and well she did keep her old friends. Never would she betray them because she made a few new one's. As the saying always said, "through thick and thin till the end."

If you saw her you would have noticed that she was walking with a boy. He wasn't the skinniest person in the world, but not fat. He was as tall as her with silver hair flowing down his back. It wasn't white, but rare silver. The boy had baggy clothes and was standing waiting for Kagome.

Most people who saw him continued to watch, as Kagome would sit down and hand him half of his sandwich and offered him anything else he wanted from her lunch. Who you ask is the boy? It was Inuyasha Taisho.

Everyday it was the same. Inuyasha would eat part of Kagome's lunch and then head of to other places together. "Hey Inuyasha... what's wrong?" Kagome asked worriedly

There were rumors going around that Inuyasha had finally asked Kikyo out to a movie. It was said that when he did Kikyo's friend, Kagura, had come to save her by saying that Kikyo had a sleepover. Kikyo in truth had told him that it was her mother's birthday. Some said that he left heartbroken. "Nothing is wrong." He roughly growled

"Alright if you say so... remember I'm always there." Kagome whispered

Kagome handed him part of her lunch, and he ate it. She felt bad knowing that Inuyasha wouldn't tell her the truth. That he wouldn't tell her the truth about what had conspired between him and Kikyo. Today instead of talking they quietly sat and waited for the bell to ring.

The next day Inuyasha was even quieter. All the girls that were around Kikyo were, just a few mere yards away from them. Kagome sighed knowing that he wanted to go over there. Kagome got up and started to walk towards them and looked back at Inuyasha. "Well are you going to come?" she asked Inuyasha raising one eyebrow

For a moment Inuyasha stood there, but then soon started to follow her. When they reached the group Kikyo and the rest of the group looked towards the two. Kagome just smiled. "Hi... I'm Kagome and this is Inuyasha... we were wondering if we could maybe hang out with you guys?"

For a moment they hesitated, but soon continued to talk as if they had know Inuyasha and Kagome their entire lives. "Did you hear about the fight?" asked one of the people

Inuyasha's ears perked up. "Yeah... I heard about it. The one between Samano and Akino right?" he asked trying to get into the conversation

The girls nodded and he began giving the details he had heard. Everyone was fascinated and pushed Kagome out of the way so that they could hear well. By the time Kagome noticed she was out of the circle. Looking back at Inuyasha she headed back towards her things and picked them up.

Kagome dragged Inuyasha's things to the bench and placed them there and left, leaving him and his new found friends to their conversation privately.

So what do you think? Review please. I'd like to hear your thoughts...
