Shippou's mistake

LITTLE FACTS TO PAY ATTENTION TO

Disclaimer: I don't own the characters from Inuyasha.

This is a challenge fic by Dark Tenchi

This is the only time I can recall having written a short story, there won't be many chapters but there will be some.

P.S. Sesshoumaru has two arms. I just don't feel like Kagome miraculously healing the other one. Sorry if that makes anyone mad.

CHAPTER 1

"What are these Kagome?" Shippou asked holding up a pair of handcuffs. He had been digging through her bag, in search of candy, though Kagome had told him not to, and he had come across these shinny things.

"That's odd..." she said, taking the handcuffs from Shippou, "I remember having these, but I don't remember putting them in my bag... strange. Oh wait..." now she remembered, her friends had bought these cuffs for her a long time ago. They were just joking though, saying she might need them against her "two-timing-overprotective-boyfriend." Or at least, she had hoped they were joking.

In any case, the set was just sitting on her desk, useless but annoying though. When she had woken up on Saturday, having promised to return, she was shocked to find it was about noon, she had overslept.

Knowing Inuyasha would be furious she quickly grabbed her books, or rather, scooped them into her bag. That must have been where the handcuffs were accidentally put in.

"So what are they? What do they do?" Shippou asked, grabbing them again.

"Um..." how to explain? Most little kids knew what handcuffs were for, but Shippou wasn't from her time. She'd have to try and explain though, "Well, we have these people in my time, they are strong, and they make sure no one does anything wrong."

"Sort of like a protector of your world?" Shippou asked, trying to understand as best he could.

To some people they were protectors, Kagome guessed he was right in a sense. "Yes, a protector. Anyway, sometimes a protector will take these," she held up one end, "And slip it around the wrist of the bad guy," she demonstrated on Shippou, "then hook the other end to themselves." And demonstrated on herself.

"Why?" he asked, scrunching his nose up in distaste. "These things are uncomfortable."

"Only because your wrist is so small." She explained slipping it off of his, "Normally you can't slip them off though. They hook themselves together so that the protector can have control of the bad guy. You see?" she asked smiling.

"They kind of look like shackles..." Shippou said, almost ignoring her. "Not really, but kind of."

"Not exactly like that Shippou." She sighed happily, she loved trying to explain modern world things to Shippou, it was so cute to see his reactions.

"So the bad guy is hooked to your protector, and then he is under their control?" Shippou examined the handcuffs again, "But it would be easy for a strong youkai to break these things. Why use them?"

"In my time, Shippou, there are no youkai." She reminded him.

"Oh, that's right." He shook his head, remembering a spell he learned when he was young, one his mother had used on his clothes. He could make the handcuffs stronger, so that no youkai could destroy them.

Suddenly Inuyasha stood, he had been listening to the conversation Shippou and Kagome had been having. To him it was obvious what the "handcuffs" were for... Or at least, he could she the possible use of them... Dirty thoughts had been running through his mind when the scent of his brother reached his senses.

"Sesshoumaru is coming..." he growled, holding Tetsusaiga's hilt. "Everyone get back!" he ordered, and so they did, but not really, no one took the battles between Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru seriously anymore.

The most the group did was move a bit back, and stand up. Just to avoiding pissing off the hanyou. Sesshoumaru would ignore them, unless they interfered, and if they interfered, Sesshoumaru would most likely kill them.

It was easier just to ignore the fight, or rather, look like they were interested when they couldn't care less. For some reason or another, Sesshoumaru had not killed Inuyasha, which he definitely could have, but they knew a human was nothing to him.

Sesshoumaru casually strode into the clearing they were currently occupying. His aura flaring and engulfing them. Something was different today, they all realized, but what?

Kagome felt nervous suddenly. Her heart was speeding up in her chest, and she couldn't explain why. She looked around for Shippou, but he was no where to be found, probably having fled. Sesshoumaru's aura was colder than she had ever remembered it being.

"Kagome," Miroku said coming close to her, "do you feel that?"

Kagome nodded, and Sango looked confused, "Feel what?" she asked, poking her nose into the conversation, the two with spiritual powers had felt something, but she was only a huntress.

"Close your eyes and concentrate," Miroku told her, and she did. Only to suddenly feel something... On her butt.

Kagome sighed as the monk was knocked to the ground by the force of Sango's smack. At such inappropriate times!

She looked back to where Sesshoumaru was, only to have her heart stop short in her chest. Sesshoumaru was looking strait at her, while Inuyasha was looking between them.

"What the fuck?!" he demanded from Sesshoumaru, "Why are you here?"

Sesshoumaru said nothing, but his attention was on Inuyasha again. He just stood there, about two meters from Inuyasha, looking at him without a single emotion showing.

"Get out of the way, brother." Sesshoumaru ordered coldly, "I have no business with you today."

The hairs on Inuyasha's neck stood at attention. He had been looking at Kagome, hadn't he? There was no way Sesshoumaru had business with her... was there? No, he wouldn't take the risk, he drew his sword.

Sesshoumaru's eyes narrowed, he had been anticipating a fight. He drew the evil sword, Tokijin, and charged his brother.

Inuyasha moved out of the way, but tried to slice into Sesshoumaru with the Tetsusaiga, but missed, cutting into nothing more than air.

Shippou watched the fight from the tree above Kagome's head, there was something different about today. It made him nervous, and for some reason he was afraid for Kagome, and that was unreasonable.

Sesshoumaru knocked Inuyasha into the tree next to Shippou, right next to him and Kagome. He then tried to impale Inuyasha with the sword, but Inuyasha moved just in time, Sesshoumaru only turned the tree into splinters.

Now was his chance to do something, Kagome had the magical "handcuffs" on her wrist right now, and Sesshoumaru was definitely the bad guy in this.

Shippou jumped down, grabbing the handcuff and quickly linking it to Sesshoumaru's sword arm. Placing the strengthening spell on simultaneously.

"Shippou what are you doing?" Kagome shrieked, but it was too late. She watched in horror as her little white lie turned into something terrible. Sesshoumaru didn't even notice the change, and so after her turned around, he took Kagome with him.

"Ah!" she screamed as she was pulled into Sesshoumaru's other arm, he looked down, no emotion showing on his face, but she could guess that he wasn't too pleased to see her there.

Inuyasha was going to try and strike, but seeing Kagome there he stopped. "What the fuck?" he said for the millionth time, "Are you going to use Kagome as a shield? That's low Sesshoumaru, even for you!"

Sesshoumaru looked back at Inuyasha, and then held his sword arm up. "What is this?" he demanded of the hanyou, referring to the handcuffs. As he moved his arm he realized that Kagome would only move more over his body the further away from him he held his wrist.

His arm was far out to his right now, and she was now standing directly in front of him. He smirked down at her, finding this rather amusing.

"How am I supposed to know? They're hers not mine!' Inuyasha shouted, pointing to Kagome "They're hers, what am I supposed to do?"

Sesshoumaru pulled backwards, watching with satisfaction as Kagome was forced against his chest. "Remove these," he ordered her, "now."

Kagome looked up, and her mouth started moving but words didn't come out. What was she supposed to say? That the keys were somewhere in her backpack? "Shippou," she said looking to her right, "Can you look through my backpack please? Look for something small and the same color as the handcuffs."

Shippou complied, jumping from the tree and running to Kagome's pack. After removing everything from it he looked up at her. "Uh, there's nothing in here like that Kagome."

Her heart stopped, oh no, what if she had left the keys on her desk? She hadn't been looking, so that would be reasonable. One problem though, she couldn't go home and retrieve them.

Sesshoumaru grabbed her hair and pulled her head back. "How do I remove them?" he growled.

Her eyes were shining with fear, that pleased him greatly. To see so closely an emotion directed at him, for a while now he had seen her, smiling, laughing, screaming and all manner of things, but usually it was from afar.

As he looked at her fear-filled face, he had the strongest urge to just lean forward, it wouldn't take much, just a small distance and he could finally taste her. It was the reason he had come, but now this little thing was in the way, he couldn't very well kill and or, wound Inuyasha with her hanging on him. There would be time for that later.

"Why don't you just break them?" Kagome suggested her voice shaking with her nervousness. "Shippou said it looked like a powerful youkai could destroy it..."

"Um, Kagome?" Shippou said looking down, "I don't think that will work... I put a spell on the handcuffs."
