Getting to Know Each Other

Sesshoumaru went on patrolling his lands, when he got smell of his brother and his human girl. 'How disgusting.' He thought. He covered his scent and ran through the trees to catch up. When he got there, he saw a girl about 16 arguing with his brother. He grinned in his head and sat there on the tree watching.

"Kagome, you're not going home! I'm in charge and I say no!" he yelled. "Since when were you the boss of me? And don't yell at me, I'm standing right in front of you!" She said. Sesshoumaru smiled with amusement. "You're not going and that's final! Besides, why do you need to go so bad? All you do is sleep when I get you." He examined. "Because when you come, it's night. People usually go to sleep when it's night time." She said. Sesshoumaru raised a brow at her sarcasm. "But why now? You just got back!" he yelled. "Darn it Inuyasha, stop yelling! I'm standing in front of you!!!" she yelled. "Back to the subject. I'm taking karate lessons and just need to go tomorrow." "Karate? Isn't that fighting?" she nodded dumbly. "No way! You're not going! Your job is to detect the shards, not to fight!" he yelled. She bowed her head down, covering her eyes with her bangs. "Kagome?" he called her. He put his hand on her shoulder and put his other hand under her chin. He smelled her and he got worried. 'She's going to cry? Why?' he thought. "Inuyasha," she whispered. "I may not like Kikyo. She can fight and most likely detect the shards as well and I can only detect the shards. Are you afraid that if I learn to fight, then I'll be like her even more?" "...Kagome... please don't compare yourself to her." He said. She closed her eyes tightly, fighting back the tears. She moved away from him and fell on her knees, putting her hands in her hair. "Kagome?" he asked. He put a hand on her shoulder, but she moved away from her touch. "So," she sobbed. "I can't love you like you love her?" His eyes widened.

"What?" he asked. "Inuyasha, for years I stood by your side when no one would, I would be there for you when you felt disgusted being a hanyou, I was the one who didn't care that you were a hanyou, I was the one who would hold your hand, I was the one that always cared and more importantly...I was the one to hug you when you were alone and sad." She said. "And after this whole time being with you...I realized it means nothing to you...when she betrays you all the time, when she tries to make you be a human just because she was disgusted by your real form, when she tries to makes you go to hell with her when she doesn't even love you, and even when she tries to kill me then you get her attention. And you hug and kiss her and she does it all over again. I've had enough of this! All I am to you is a shard detector and a distraction!"

"Kagome..." he whispered and he sat next to her. "And what would you do? All you do is save me so you can have the shards and make sure that Kouga wouldn't take me for the shards. And you know what? You always make promises that you can't keep! Remember when I got trapped and when you came to get me Kikyo was there and instead of saving me you were about to go to hell with Kikyo!" she took a deep breath and continued. "You always said you'd protect and be there, but you'd always leave me behind or forget about me! You didn't care when Kikyo took the shards from me. You kept thinking, 'But, that's not like Kikyo' and 'Kikyo would never do that.' Well your wrong because she'd hurt me and you'd just stand there and act like your world is all about shards and Kikyo. All you're doing is hurting the people involved! You never were there when I was lonely and sad, and you never paid attention to my feelings this whole time!!" she yelled. He wrapped his arms around her waist and hugged her possessively. "Kagome, I'm sorry." He whispered.

"Let me go Inuyasha." She sobbed. "Kagome...please don't make me leave." He said. "You will have to eventually," she sobbed. "You wouldn't want Kikyo to get jealous and mad at you." He tightened his grip and put his head where her neck was. "Why are you acting like this?" he asked. "I have always loved you and now I learned that 'why love someone when they don't love you back'." She said. (That's my quote, because I believe people like me always get hurt emotionally from guys you like that can't think of you like that. Oh the pain) "I'm sorry." He said. She looked up at the sky and saw the soul catchers. "Inuyasha, it's time for you to go. Kikyo's near by. Her soul catchers are here." She sobbed. "I told you. I'm not leaving." He said. "Why? You're going to see her anyways." She whispered, looking down again.

She tried to move out of his arms, but he would only tighten them. "Look Kagome, I don't want you to be mad at me." He said. "Inuyasha, you're scaring me. Please just let me go and leave me alone like you always do." She said. She tried to move once more and went stiff when she felt his fangs against her neck. She shivered. "No. I'm sorry that I treated you like this and I promise not do anything to you." He whispered. Sesshoumaru's eyes widen slightly. Inuyasha was going to try and make her his mate! He wanted to jump off and beat him up, but he suddenly wondered. 'Why do I care if she becomes his mate?' 'Because you want her for yourself. She's quite precious for a miko.' 'Maybe. WAIT... GET OUT OF MY HEAD! I MAY LIKE HER, BUT NOT LIKE THAT!' He shook his head and focused on the two people. "Inuyasha?" she said, turning to him. "Sit!" he fell on his back and her on top. She leaned down and said clearly. "Don't make a promise you can't keep." With that, she got up and ran into the forest.

"Damn it Kagome!" he yelled. Sesshoumaru laughed softly and went after the human girl. She ran faster than ever before and suddenly tripped over a tree lump. She rolled all the way down which was for five minutes until someone picked her up. "Do you always need someone to help you?" she looked up and saw Sesshoumaru. "What are you doing here? Oh and arigato for getting me." She said. "I saw you and Inuyasha fighting so, I came to check up on you...and my brother." He said. "Oh, umm...Inuyasha's probably with Kikyo by now or on his way here." She said. She tried to move out of his arm, but he wouldn't let go. "Umm...can you please let me go now?" she asked. "Why? You don't like it?" he asked. She blushed and looked down so he couldn't see. But he already knew. "So you did like it?" he said. "OK I ADMIT IT! HAPPY NOW!?" she said. He pulled her against his chest and put his nose in her hair, where her neck is.

"Yes." He said. She shivered violently when he licked her neck. "Please...don't..." she whispered. "Why?" he asked. "Because," she started. "Don't you hate humans? You also will regret it." "I will no regret anything. Tell me, why you always stick by my brother's side?" he asked her. "He gives me protection and with his help, I can collect the shards quicker." She answered. He tightened his grip around her and pushed her against his chest. "If I joined you and your friends, I can be with you? Like you and Inuyasha?" he asked. "Probably, but we all know that you wouldn't want to be with humans, grow a soft heart, and become your weak spots." She said. He was about to something, but didn't. She was right. He doesn't have a weak spot. Actually there was Rin, but Naraku hopefully didn't know.

"Kagome," he started. "Your friends will not become a weak spot to me." "What about me?" she asked. "...I'm not sure about you. You're different. You're the only person rather from Rin that isn't scared of Me." he answered. "Sesshoumaru, if you want to join you must speak with my friends, not just me." She said. "Very well. Where are they?" he asked. "At the village." She answered. He nodded and picked her up bridal-style. "What are you doing? I can walk you know." She said. "Yeah, but your slow." He grinned. "Fine." She sighed. They ran to the hut and he slowly put her down. She slightly blushed and walked into the hut. "Well, I guess no one's home yet." She said, looking around at the hut. She gasped as she felt two strong arms go around her waist. (Yes hey has two arms) "Do you enjoy hugging me?" she asked. "Maybe, do you like this?" He smiled. "Umm...no." she stuttered. "Then how come your not telling me to let go?" he asked. She blushed. "I'd rather not answer," she said "Will you let me go now?" He let her go. "Sesshoumaru?" he looked at her. "Why are you being nice?" she asked. "Because I'm paying you back for saving Rin." He said. "Oh..." she mumbled. "So what do you want to do now?"
