Use to Love You

Chapter One:Betrayal

"I HATE YOU, INUYASHA!", Kagome screamed. Inuyasha stumbled backwards with a look of regret in his eyes. How could he have been so stupid? What he did was unforgivible, and they both knew it.

-Flashback-

Inuyasha, Miroku, Shippou, Sango, and Kagome had encountered another demon that possessed shikon jewel shards. Five of them to be exact. This was a wolf youkai, whose power was already strong enough without the jewel shards. This made it even more powerful than before. Sango and Miroku had been busy distracting the youkai, while Inuyasha and Kagome powered up to perform the attack that would send it into oblivion.

Kagome had been getting her purifying arrows ready, while Inuyasha was waiting for the exact moment to let the windscar loose incase it was needed. The wolf youkai swung its paws left and right, knocking Miroku and Sango over like tiny rag dolls. But, Kagome didn't know this because she was too preoccupied. The wolf youkai aimed its gigantic claws straight for Kagome. Kagome stumbled back in fright, and let her bowstring go. Five jewel shards dropped out of the youkai's chest.

Inuyasha didn't even stop to save her. His goal was to get the jewel shards..

"KAGOME! I'M SORRY! BUT I HAVE TO GET THESE JEWEL SHARDS OR NARAKU MIGHT WIN THIS!" Kagome screamed, as the wolf youkai was about to tear her apart. Just in time though, Sango's Hiraikotsu came whizzing by and smashed the youkai's head away, causing it to fall. Miroku opened up his wind tunnel and cleaned up the mess.

Kagome dropped to the ground, trembling with fear. She was so close to death that time. Inuyasha came running forward with the jewel shards in his fists.

"Kagome are you o-" "SHUT UP!", she screamed. Inuyasha staggered back, not understanding her behaviour.

"YOU WERE WILLING TO SACRIFICE ME FOR THE JEWEL SHARDS, BUT THEN PROTECT KIKYOU WHOSE ALREADY DEAD!" Inuyasha flattened his ears, ashamed of himself. She was right. He'd throw everything away for Kikyou, but for Kagome, he'd throw her away instead. Kagome's eyes bore into him, full of hate. How could he do this to her? Did he really just think of her as some shard detector?

Kagome stood up, silently. Picking up her bow and arrows, she began to walk away.

"Where are you going, Kagome?", Sango asked, with a hint of worry in her voice. Kagome paused, but didn't turn back.

"I'm going home. I don't think I belong in this era." Inuyasha's eyes widened, realizing what she meant. She'd leave him, and he'd be all alone again.

"DON'T GO KAGO-" "I HATE YOU, INUYASHA!"

-End Flashback-

Kagome glared at him with eyes full of hate and sadness. This wasn't meant to be. She slung her yellow backback over her shoulder, and walked outside Kaede's hut, towards the well. Shippou bounded after her, with a look of worry and fright on his face.

"You-You're not leaving, are you!", he cried. Kagome scooped Shippou up in her arms and gave him a tight hug. "I'm sorry Shippou...but I don't belong here. Please don't worry about me." With that said, Kagome hugged him tightly, one last time, and jumped down the well.

----

Inuyasha sat at the base of the Goshinboku tree, thinking about what had just happened.

'It's just one of those stupid fights again...nothing different from all the other ones we've had, right?' Somehow, this thought wasn't very convincing. Deep down, he knew Kagome didn't want to do anything with him, ever again. He had screwed up big time. Willing to sacrifice her for the shikon shards was not such a noble deed. He could have protected Kagome and then grabbed the shikon shards. Instead, he suffered the consequences. 'Why does everything have to be so complicated!' Inuyasha smashed the tree with his fist, and stood there. Kagome had left him for good, and this time, he was the only one to blame.
