Captive of Hatred

Prologue

The agony in my soul mirrors the beauty of my dark soul (Julian Myndfyre)

Under the aged tree, the youthful priestess longed that her end would near. She wanted to fade away. She wanted to be left as a mere memory. All the tears that she shed, the wounds that inflicted pain in the core of her being, all those she desired to forget. She hoped that she would no longer feel the aching tug within her heart. She sought freedom from these feelings.

"You're nothing but a reincarnation." The silver-haired half-demon uttered, not realizing the damage those words brought the young woman. She wanted to cry, she forced herself to remain silent. However, she no longer had the strength to withhold such torment.

He was the reason why she shed tears. Her love for him was the reason why she allowed herself to disregard all the insults he threw at her every time they had a disagreement. But this time it was different, he completely ruined the fortress she built to shelter her already broken heart.

"You're nothing against Kikyo." Those words brought her to reality. All this time, he was comparing her to his deceased lover. The pain was intolerable. Those plain words were enough to break her to pieces.

At that moment, only one feeling lingered inside her, hatred. She loathed him, she despised his lifeless lover. Jealousy overflowed her heart the instant those words exploded from the half-demon's lips. The memory rooted in her mind, how the half-demon tossed those bitter words in her face, entirely wrecking her heart, her spirit into shreds.

Tears cascaded from her eyes while she stared at the Halfling before her. He just told her the obvious truth. In his eyes, she's but a lowly human, a pure imitation of the renowned priestess, Kikyo. "K-Kagome, I didn't mean to--" Inuyasha spoke when he realized the things he said. Yet he was too late... she was gone.

How can he be so cruel? Those words left hanging in her mind as she stared at the mystic orb of night. How can he be so ignorant? She thought in dejection, her eyes rigid upon the night empyrean. Why does it hurt so much? The despaired priestess uttered to herself at the same time closing her eyes.

I can feel your pain

Her russet orbs leisurely opened then, she slowly gazed at her surroundings. She heard a womanly voice. Upon seeing no one, she once more leaned her head

against the tree and closed her eyes.

I can sense your despair

She heard it yet again. Thus far this time she did not open her eyes to look for the owner of the voice. She remained frozen. She supposed that the voice she heard was just her inner thoughts, perhaps an outcome of too much misery. Conversely, she was mistaken.

You are bleeding

I can see your wounded essence

Who are you? The young priestess whispered in her mind. She was far too lost to understand the things that were happening within her.

I am yours to unveil

I live by your fears

Your loneliness

Your agony

What do you want from me? She questioned mentally. Her demeanor remained impassive. Her eyes were closed and her head was tilted up as if she was gazing at the skies. Her hands rested beside her unmoving frame, and her long lean legs extended before her. She was sitting underneath the tree with her back against its firm trunk.

Tell me thy desires

Tell me thy wish

Thou can tell me everything

Anything

I-I don't have any requests nor desires, just leave me be. She retorted as her brows tensed in irritation.

Your mind uttered firmly

But your heart stated differently

You are shuddering

You are in pain

I don't want your help or your pity! She cried in her mind at the same time trying to open her eyes and gain her consciousness. However, there was someone drawing her back, making her stay in-between awareness and oblivion.

Look deeper within your heart

Allow your soul to completely succumb

Within the depths of loneliness and hatred

The miko gave no reply. She remained still with her eyes closed. The feel around her seemed to have gone dark. The rustling of the trees and wind's wailing was left as another kind of silence.

Accept the abhorrence within

Let it rule your soul

A sudden scarlet glow was released at her chest. Then leisurely it freed a dark aura. It began to creep on her hands, her neck, slowly consuming her body. The atmosphere around her gradually changed. Her once pure and beaming energy was slowly tainted by immense darkness and loathing.

He had hurt you badly

He gave you this torment

Now is your time

Show him

Show those who oppose you

Let them feel the pain that you suffered

The pain that to you will soon be a feeling left forgotten

The aura finally covered her entire form. Her eyes opened. The once radiant auburn spheres were now replaced by pools of emptiness. She gazed at the murk sky with her head set the same as it was before, slightly-tilted up towards the heavens. She spoke no words nor made any movements while the sinister light enveloped her like a galloping black hole.

To you I offer my hand

Embrace me as I embrace you

Feel no more emotion

No more pain

No more suffering

One thing is for sure, she no longer felt emotions. No longer did she feel the pain that she was carrying. She was free at last, liberated from the burden that was gradually rumpling her. She felt a new kind of control, a new power. Then, a tiny smirk formed on her bare look. She was certain. Everything will be different from now on. All her anguish will remain as an uttered recollection.

Death to emotions

End to agony

"No more."
