A Youkai Christmas by Uni-Mara

Chapter One

"NO NO NO!!!" yelled Inu-Yasha.

"WELL WHY NOT?!" Kagome screamed back at him. Miroku and Shippou were getting rather bored at this point. Shippou had almost completely gone to sleep and Sango was staring at the starless sky when he noticed something.

"Hey, it's snowing." Sango said absent-mindedly.

"SEE, SANGO AGREES WITH ME!!!" Kagome yelled at Inu-Yasha.

"SHE'S NOT AGREEING WITH YOU, SHE JUST SAID IT'S SNOWING!!!" Inu-Yasha roared at the top of his voice again.

"SHUT UP!" Miroku yelled. His usually passive (and perverted) disposition suddenly shattered. "WE'RE GOING WITH KAGOME'S IDEA BECAUSE SHIPPOU'S ASLEEP, I'M COLD, I'M HUNGRY, AND I CAN'T FEEL MY BUTT ANYMORE BECAUSE I'VE BEEN SITTING FOR ALMOST TWO HOURS ON A FREEZING COLD ROCK!!!" Kagome and Inu-Yasha, lost for words, just nodded and led the way to the well that would transport them to Kagome's time. Miroku, who was still exceptionally annoyed, stayed in the rear carrying a sleeping Shippou. Inu-Yasha was thinking about how he over-reacted, he didn't even know what Christmas was so maybe it wasn't right for him to try to take it away from Kagome. When they made it to the well Miroku and Sango were a little doubtful.

"Are you sure I won't drown?" he said apprehensively.

"Oh just go in." Inu-Yasha said irritability as he shoved Miroku (and Shippou) into the well. He helped Kagome and Sango in then jumped in himself. When they came to the other end of the well, into the well house, Inu-Yasha sniffed the air attentively.

"Hey what's that smell?" he blurted out.

"Mom, Souta, grandpa I'm home!" Kagome yelled happily as she pulled her self out of the well.

On the other side of the well the great youkai lord of the Western Lands waited for his mangy brother and the rest of his group to come out of the well.

"Sesshoumaru-sama?" asked a little voice.

Sesshoumaru looked down into a pair of wide brown eyes that belonged to a little girl. Rin.

"What is it Rin?" he spoke to the child but kept his eyes on the well incase the others came out.

"When are those people coming out of that well?" Rin shifted her weight on the balls of her feet, pleading for attention.

Sesshoumaru walked over to the Bone-Eater's Well. Like always he wouldn't admit he didn't know something, but he would figure it out. When he looked into the well he thought he was seeing things- or not seeing things is more like it. He was sure that he had seen all of them go into that stupid well. The monk, the youkai huntress, that moron mutt hanyou, the kitsune, the girl in that indecent kimono, and that little cat youkai. It just didn't make any sense.

"Sesshoumaru-sama, why aren't they in - eep!" Rin, who was following Sesshoumaru, fell into the dry well. Acting purely on instinct Sesshoumaru tried to get Rin before she hit the bottom of the well. Unfortunately the rotting wood if the Bone-Eater's well couldn't support the youkai's weight and he fell in after her.

"Come on just eat it!" Souta said pleadingly. He had given Inu-Yasha a milk bone and wanted to see if dog youkai liked the same things regular dogs did.

"Fine, whatever" Inu-Yasha sighed. Either he ate that bone shaped cookie (at least he thinks it's a cookie) or he'll never have a moment's peace at Kagome's house.

Taking a small bite of the milk bone Inu-Yasha chewed it carefully, not knowing if it would explode in his mouth or not. It tasted like chicken, beef, and lamb. In all honesty it didn't taste bad, just a little strange.

"This isn't to bad kid." Inu-Yasha said, "What is it?"

"Oh, it's a dog biscuit." Souta said happily holding up a bag with a picture of a dog on the front of it "You want another one?"

"It's a WHAT?!?!" he screamed. To say Inu-Yasha was pissed off would be a huge understatement.

"Well... I thought you might like them... because you are a dog hanyou." Souta said nervously.

What happened? Sesshoumaru thought to himself.

Slowly what happened at the Bone-Eater's well came back to him. Why he was in a well, why his head hurt, and why he was covered in dirt. But the only things he wanted to know he couldn't find.

Rin! Sesshoumaru thought as he stood up. Where's Rin?!

He sniffed the air and found her sent on the ladder that led up and out of the well.

Ladder? There wasn't a ladder here before. He thought to himself.

Shrugging it off he decided to figure it out later and climbed out of the well into the well house. Now the well house was defiantly not there before but he took no notice to it. Walking out the first things that came to his senses were a lot of noise that nearly made him go deaf and two horrible smells. One was obvious, humans and a lot of them, the other he wasn't able to distinguish but it smelled like something burning. He couldn't take it, he had to get away from it, anywhere but here. He looked around him. There was a house nearby. Would it be any better? Probably not, but he had to try. Striating up and shaking off most of the dirt that was on him he walked to the house, unaware of the scent of two youkai and a hanyou.

Kikyou walked through the forest. She knew that Kagome had traveled back to her own time and was hell bent on keeping her there. What Kikyou didn't know was that Inu-Yasha and the rest of her friends had gone with her. As she reached the Bone-Eater's well Kikyou saw Inu-Yasha's older half-brother, Sesshoumaru, fall into the well.

Good, one less person that could kill Inu-Yasha before I can drag him to Hell with me. She thought with a smirk.

"Lord Sesshoumaru!" squawked the toad youkai that followed Sesshoumaru everywhere he went as he ran to the well. It was then that Kikyou decided to make her presence know.

"Out of my way." She said as she pointed a finger at the youkai. A blast of energy came form her extended finger and hit Jaken squarely on the forehead. While he was temporarily unconscious Kikyou made her way to the well. She chanted an incantation that would seal the well shut, but it would wear off in about a week.

That's plenty of time to find Inu-Yasha. She thought with a grin and walked off into the forest to find him.
