A Cold Winter's Breath by Sakura Sky

Chapter One

She sat down on the wet grass. Her small skirt riding up a bit.She pulled her knees to her chin, while quiet tears ran down her tomato red cheeks. Though the day was warm, a cold yet sad aura could be felt, as she began to recall the past.

^^^^^^^^^^ Flashback ^^^^^^^^^^

"Die Naraku" with that a sword was shoved into the evil man's stoumach. Inu Yasha pulled the Tetsuseiga out of the Naraku's stoumach. The said man fell back, a look of horror passed his face. Finally, after two long years Naraku was dead, the Shinkon was complete, and Inu Yasha's choice of Kikyo or Kagome would be made.

That night, as they sat around the camp fire, Miroku purposed to Sango. He was even willing to give up his perverted ways just to be with her. Sango was overjoyed and immeadeatly complied. Everyone was happy to. "I already have a place we can call home" Miroku said. So, in the morning they would head off. Everyone had already agreed that Shippo would stay with Kagome, wether or not she was in the Sedigo Jedi . That night, for the first time ever, Kagome saw Inu Yasha smile. It remined her of a beautiful angel she had seen in a picture book, when she was young.

Suddenly, a cold wind filled with anger and hatred blew by. Kagome knew who it was. It was her , Kagome in the past, the undead. "Inu, choose" the dead girl said.

Inu Yasha took on a sad look. He knew he loved Kagome with all his heart, but he had already promised Kikyo. Promised his life. But no matter what happened, he had to tell Kagome how he felt. "Kagome...I"

So, that's how it ended. Inu Yasha told Kagome he loved her, but he owed it to Kikyo to go with her.

Kagome didn't know how long she sat in a shocked daze, but by the time she got out of it, Inu Yasha and Kikyo were long gone. Miroku and Sango offered to let her stay with them, but she told them simply to take care of Shippo for a bit so she could think things through.

Though all these horrible things happened, little did Kagome know that the real adventure was about to begin.
