Unlikely Situations

Ch.1; New York to L.A.

*~*~*~*~*

‘Oh how the mighty have fallen,’ thought a young woman of about 21. She stood by the west-facing window of her L.A. apartment, watching the suns slow trek bellow the horizon.

She turned her back on the vibrant scene. Her long, blue tinted, slightly wavy, raven black hair trailed behind her as she made her way to her new kitchen. Her expressive, cobalt blue eyes scanned over the clean room. Only to come to rest on a black coffee mug as a squealing noise reached her ears.

Carefully, so as not to burn herself, she removed a teapot from the stove and poured the steaming water into the mug. Then she stirred in two scoops of Tang, relaxing against the counter. She carefully sipped the hot beverage while continuing to contemplate her situation.

‘Who would of thought that I, Kagome Higurashi, would be reduced to hiding?’ Her cell phone, ringing on the counter next to her, interrupted her thoughts.

She calmly put her mug of Tang on the counter as a sigh escaped her midnight rose painted lips. She lightly picked up the sapphire gray cell, glancing briefly at the collar I.D. before saying, “Moshi moshi Miroku. How goes everything in New York?”

~”Things still haven’t died down any Kago-girl. Judging by the rate everything’s moving, it looks like you’ll be planted in L.A. for longer than any of us anticipated,”~ answered Miroku on the other end of the line. He sounded strained and Kagome could just imagine her long time friend rubbing the bridge of his nose.

She smiled at the mental image before her face melted into that of a serious businesswoman. “How long?” was her blunt question. She never was one to beat around the bush.

~”Don’t plan on being home for the holidays Kag. Naraku’s gang has completely taken over Firebird’s main territory. I managed to pull all our operatives out before you even boarded the plane. They’re all off Manhattan and scattered throughout New York State. Just waiting for their fierce leaders word to swoop in and take back the city.”~

Kagome’s free hand had clutched the counter till her knuckles were white; she was so mad that her city was taken over. While her eyes darkened with dark pleasure at knowing that her loyal minions were ready to take it back.

“Miroku, stay in Manhattan for now. I want to know what Naraku’s doing to my city. Send Shippo to L.A. I’m going to need my best mechanical genius with me if I’m to set up shop. Until I can reclaim Firebird territory once more, L.A. will have to be our new nesting grounds.

You’ll be joining me in three months. Get the spy network up and running before you arrive. Naraku won’t get away with this,” she ordered as she picked up her mug and moved into the living room. Taking a seat on the black velvet couch.

~”Yes ma’am Kag, you got it,”~ was her instant reply.

“Oh, and Miroku,” she added before he hung up. “Report back to me every Friday. Also, do be careful.” With that, she broke the connection, tossing the cell onto the coffee table that rested in front of the couch she was curled up on.

She tucked her black stocking feet under her as she sipped her Tang. Her eyes darkened to a Navy blue, almost black, as she stared out the window at the last of the suns raise. “You’ve messed with the wrong woman Naraku. Now, prepare to face the consequences.”

~*Meanwhile, in New York City*~

Miroku hung up the pay phone he had been using. He’d learned over the years that it’s harder to trace a call form a pay phone than any other phone. (Don’t know if this is true or not! I don’t want anyone to go a find out for me. Thanks.)

He heaved a heavy sigh as he shoved hi hands in his trench coat pockets and began to walk away. “Maybe I should have told her whose top dog in L.A?” he muttered as he hailed a taxicab.

He shrugged as the yellow vehicle pulled to a stop in front of him. He opened the door and looked back at the phone he was using. Now, a sweet looking old lady was using it and he smiled. “She’ll find out soon enough,” he said while shrugging and getting in the cab.

*~*~*~*~*

Alright, this is, of course, a Sess/Kag match up. I know that Kag is OOC. But you’d be mad to if you had to leave your lives work behind and start all over because of some jerk!

Well, next time…Kag goes for a run and bumps into a not so friendly crowd. She learns whose in charge in L.A. and decides to knock him off his throne. Oh boy, let the madness commence! Reviews are most welcome!!
