Fate and Destiny by Kagomes_latina_version

Death, Fate and Destiny

Summary: Everyone's gone that Kagome loves and now she's a wanderer, but who finds her amidst in her wanderings? A certain silver-haired taiyoukai that's who, will his reasoning make sense or will she decide a different fate for herself? Read to find out!

She stumbled across the grassy field, bloody and beaten. She was all alone; no one could help her poor damaged soul. Everyone she ever cared about was gone. Lost in their own despair. She had been the only one to keep hope during the final battle.

She had won, if you could justify that. As always a great victory, there comes a price and for Kagome that price was her love. Gone was her family and friends never to be seen again.

Now she was in despair, her dreams crushed under the weight evil had made, drowning anyone who dared crossed its path, leaving no pity for poor souls who were destroyed. She saw nothing worth living for. All she wanted was happiness, no matter what the form. Yet the gods seemed to think that this was not acceptable for her.

"Damn you Naraku!" she cried out, feeling the shame that Naraku had placed upon her chest.

She was without love, no one could see how pained she was. Oh no, the little miko would not allow it for someone to experience her own pain, I saw how contained she held it within in herself subconsciously.

"Why me?" she asked, raising her arms up in a questioning way. Love is never easy to obtain yet it seemed it was unobtainable for this girl, were the gods testing her or were they cruel?

"Why what?" came an icy taiyoukai's voice, questioning her. Could he not see the pain she held in her eyes? Or how she stood and walked without a gait.

She looked up from where she sat; she wouldn't look him in the eyes. Days before she would have done it without hesitation but her pride was too wounded to allow her such luxury. "Gomen ne, if I disturbed you, please, just please leave me be." She pleaded, could he not see how pained she was, how much her pride had been stepped on?

"No come here." Kagome having lost all pride stood and walked towards him, every step agonizing her.

"What pains you?" Sesshomaru asked, brushing away a few fallen strands of her raven black hair. It amazes me, in all my life as a miko being locked up in the jewel that I watched this demon, yet he never showed remorse for any human except the girl, Rin.

"Everything, all that I've worked for, it's gone, just gone..." Kagome said, a sob coming through her mouth. She seemed to be fighting the tears; it must have shamed her to cry when her friends did not cry when they lost her lives.

"Death brings pain, it passes with time, but it will never pass away, you need to keep your friends memory fresh, so that you can always have memories of them. But, why now do you expect something for your work? You have never before. How harsh it is when reality sets in, her sobs were growing louder than ever before, tears flowed down her face. The poor creature, he seemed to be trying to help though.

"Yes pain hurts, death hurts, but why should I suffer it, who have I wronged?" she whispered, as if the question could kill her.

"No one, it is fate that has wronged you, you are simple with human ways, you especially. You help those who are in need and expect no pay, but the complex moral of the gods are complex and are not meant to be understood only used."

The girl said nothing, her sobs were the only source of noise and they seemed to be coming to an end. The silver- haired demon sat on the ground and motioned for Kagome to do the same. She seemed to not notice yet she sat, he pulled her into his lap, stroking her hair. She buried her head into his robes, crying freely again, letting her pain flow through her tears, not holding back.

"I just, I would give anything, my very being I would burn if my agony would bring them back and give them the lives they so unjustly got torn away from them." Came Kagome's muffled voice, it cut by Sesshomaru's haori.

"Fate chooses, while destiny leads, complex morals all lead to one simple thing." Sesshomaru said, setting his chin on the top of her head.

"What's that?"

"You can imagine life the way you want but you can never be sure the outcome of your moves, every move, every choice you make points destiny and fate until they meet, then and only then can life end."

"How is that simple?"

"You are thinking to hard about this, quit thinking about it." Sesshomaru whispered into her ear, tickling it with his warm breath.

Kagome nodded, and stared high above into the sky, the moon rose in the sky, it appeared to be a replica of Sesshomaru's symbol on his forehead. Kagome giggled softly earning her a stare from Sesshomaru, but she ignored it and traced his moon with her finer lightly. It tingled and she kept at it until she opened her eyes wide.

"So what you mean is nothing goes precisely as planned?" Kagome questioned, peering up at Sesshomaru.

"Yes your every move entwines with fate." He said, moving swiftly to a more comfortable position. Kagome seemed unfazed by his sudden movement; the only indication that she noticed was her move to his lap again, settling in his arms.

"But I can't go home, I have no place to go. Where do I go?" Kagome asked, a frown marring her delicate features.

"With me," Kagome cast him a confused expression, "It seems Rin is growing quite fond of you, and I too."

Kagome smiled up at him and settled again into his arms. I wasn't soon until sleep took over.
