Alone She Sits

Chapter one: Alone She Sits

A sunny beam of light whispered across the clearing, where the Lord of the Western Lands stood in silence, watching Rin play with his toad retainer Jaken. By now, his body was calling out to him, and his patience grew thin of his youkai, for what it wanted was not something easily saught out.

For two ceturies his body cried out to him in calls of sorrow and anger. Anger for locking Him, his very demon, away for life, and sorrow for the lonliness he felt deep inside his soul, down into his very existance. Nothing could account for how angry he felt for having to deal with his demon, but for also the way his demon had been acting lately.

The taiyoukai knew what was happening, and his lips grew thin as his eyebrows furrowed, and he looked directly into the blazing sun, blinding himself, but not really caring. He could not stand the way his body reacted to his demon instincts, and he could not cope with what he was about to do.

But he knew he had to do it, he knew he had to or he'd die a death far greater than that of his father. He'd die of his youkai, and become the very essence of a nothingness he had not and will not accept in his lifetime, though he remained cold and emotion less. He knew what he needed, and he needed it now. All he had to do was wait for his plan to work.

A plan to capture his mate.

Kagome was resting beneath the tree that Inuyasha was resting apon, above her on a thick branch covered in moss. He appeared to be sleeping, but Kagome knew better. She knew he was focusing on her, and she knew that he watched her with wide open eyes whenever she had her backed turned or was sleeping. Inwardly, Kagome smiled at the thought of him watching her. She was content with the fact that the person she cared about most, did not feel any different about her.

Oh, come on, she knew better than to think that Inuyasha really loved Kikyo now that she had just recently tried to kill her, and the fact that she admitted openly to Inuyasha that she bedded with Nuraku, the vile hanyou who also tried taking Kagome as his so called life mate. She really had no idea what that term meant, but she rather not think about it.

She remembered the time when they had first come across the terrible Lord Sesshomaru, Inuyasha's elder half, full demon brother. She remembered how Inuyasha protected her, and how his desire to protect her unleashed the full form and true power of Tetsusaiga, one of their father's swords that were forged from his great fang. She remembered when Inuyasha first ate food from her time, and is now addicted to the many flavors of Ramen noodles that she so oftenly see splattered about his face, and dripping down his blood red haori.

Before she could stop herself, Kagome found herself rolling around on the ground and giggling like a crazed maniac, and of course, her laughter did not go past his ears. With the grace he was gifted with at the time of his birth, Inuyasha jumped down from the branch above her, and landed with ease beside her giggling form. His face held somewhat of an annoyed attitude, and a cross between angry and content, happy and scared.

*Scared? Why Scared? What's he thinking about that is making him look that way? Is it Kikyo?*

Kagome stared back with wonder and saddness that did not travel past Inuyasha's firm gaze. Quickly, his face abandined all content and adopted worry. He began asking her questions that never seemed to end.

"Kagome! Are you alright?! What's wrong? You're not feeling bad are you? Maybe you should lie down! Here! I'll roll out your sleeping bag and tuck you in. You can lay closer to the fire if you wan. Or- I'll- ...... sleep... by... you?" He finished all this in one breath as he rolled out her sleeping bag, pulled out her pajamas from her yellow pack, and broke the last senrence into little bits.

She could tell that he was worried that she might sit him for his bold comment, but decided to let his last comment slide, for it touched her deeply. Instead she mearly smiled and shook her head.

"No thanks, Inu-chan. I'm feeling fine. Just a little queezy and tired 'sall." Her voice was calm and quiet, and her face was pale with exaustion and the mere fact that she didn't sit him for his last remark caught him off gaurd.

He was worried sick. No. He was worried to death. "kagome... please... You need to rest... I - I'm worried about you... please..." As Kagome looked at the ground she was surprised and nearly jumped as she felt the warm soft, calloused skin of Inuyasha's palm resting on her cheek, encouraging her to look up at him and into his worried toned face. She hesitantly complied, and searched his face for the arrogant sneer he normally had, but what she saw, caught her completely off gaurd......

Inuyasha.....was crying.

Well... That's chapter one. Sorry for it being so short bu tI need to know if you like. NOTE: I WILL NOT CONTINUE TO WRITE UNLESS I RECIEVE AT LEAST 15 PLEASENT REVEIWS!!!!

I do accept FLAMES but not with open arms. I do promise the story WILL get better. I just needed to introduce the two characters that most of the plots will be centering on. I hope you to keep reading and the story DOES have some surprise twists! (evil laughs) It involves Kagome nearly dying and a special someone returns to pay the two dog brothers and Kagome in particular, a visit. He joins the group and even tries to temp Kags into becoming HIS mate! Sparks FLY!! Yes, it IS a Sessy-Kag fic.
