" Inuyasha!"

"...."

" INUYASHA!!!" Kagome yelled once more, but this time

running up the agitated dog demon.

" I am not deaf, Kagome."Inuyasha snapped not

bothering to glance at the young woman.

" Oh right." Kagome blushed." Can we stop??"

" Why?"

" Because.."She pouted." My legs are on fire...."

Kagome ran her hands down the front of her legs and

moaned.Inuyasha glanced at her and grunted.

" No they are not."

Kagome placed her hands on her hips angrily and

stopped.

" You knew what I meant, Inuyasha...." Kagome growled

kicking a rock at him.

" Yeah, and I am getting tired." Shippo squeaked from

his perch on Kagome's shoulder.

" Fef, What would you know of Being tired, Shippo?You

just sit there on Kagomes shoulder and hitch rides as

if you have no legs."Inuyasha grumbled angrily.

Shippo frowned knowing that Inuyasha was right.

" It is ok, shippo...I don't mind."

Kagome smiled and gave Shippo a pat on the head

lovingly.

" Perhaps it would be wise to take a break seeing as

we have yet to stop for lunch." Miroku reasoned coming

up beside the three with Sango trialing behind.

" Rrrrr..Fine!" Inuyasha barked.

" Oh, thankyouthankyouthankyou.!" Kagome sung happily

now knowing that her legs were going to get a well

needed rest.

" Yeah yeah, but make it quick.I am going to have a

look around."

Inuyasha jumped off into the trees before anyone could

utter a word.

Inuyasha was walking through the brush of the dim

forest unaware for the soul catchers that hovered over

head.

" Hello,Inuyasha."

Inuyasha quickly turned to face the familiar voice

that called out to him.

" What?..No hello Kikyo, how are you?" Kikyo

snickered.

"K-kikyo."

" AHHH..." Kagome let out a sigh as she sat on the

cool ground." So how does Ramon sound?"

" That sounds great!" Shippo answered while the other

two nodded with approval.

" I wonder where Inuyasha could be?" Kagome whispered.

" Heh, you now how he is, Kagome.He is probably off

fuming about having to stop for a lunch break."

" Yeah I guess your right." She replied still not

convinced.

" What do you want Kikyo?" Inuyasha snarled.

" Now, Inuyasha....is that any way to speak to the one

you love?"

Inuyasha winced at the word love.It was said with no

emotion at all.He cleared his thoughts and spoke.

" It is when they try to drag you to hell with them

every chance they get." Inuyasha snapped back.

" Your right." Kikyo sighed.

" I know I- wait..what?" Inuyasha asked a bit

surprised.Kikyo was never this lenient." I am?"

" Yes..."

" Ok.What is going on? What are you trying to pull

this time?"Inuyasha growled taking hold of Tetsaiga.

" I am not trying to pull anything!" Kikyo snapped

losing her patience with the hanyou.

* This is going to be harder then I

thought.*

Kikyo let a sigh escape her cold lips before

continuing what she had to say.

" Look Inuyasha, I want to make....amends.." Kikyo

said with a smile plastered on her cold face." So will

you meet me here later tonight to speak?"

Inuyasha scoffed and replied with annoyance.

" Why? You plan to try and drag me to hell once

again?"

" NO YOU BAKA!!!" Kikyo yelled loud enough to wake the

dead.

" NO YOU BAKA!!!" ( echo echo)

" Did you guys here that?" Sango asked jumping to her

feet fallowed by Miroku and Kagome.

" It sounded like a woman in distress." Miroku added

with a sly and cunning smirk.

" Miroku..." Sango warned.

" We should go and see what it was." Kagome suggested.

" Your right, Lets go!" Miroku said , already ahead of

the two.

" What is it going to take to convince you that all I

want is to make thing better?"

Inuyasha said nothing as the Kikyo did her best to

reason.A seductive smile played across her face as she

moved towards Inuyasha.Before Inuyasha had a chance to

react Kikyo crushed her cold lips against his.

* Her kiss is cold and empty......*

Yet Inuyasha feel into the emotionless kiss all the

same.Kikyo's kiss was nothing he thought it should

be.It was lifeless...just like she was.

* What did you expect???* Inuyasha asked

himself not noticing when she broke their lip lock.*

she IS nothing more then rotted bones...*

Inuyasha was brought out of his deep thoughts by the

cold caress of Kikyos lifeless fingers that lingered

on his cheek.

" Is there something the matter,Inuyasha?"

Of course there was, but what was he to say?She was

on longer the same woman he loved all those years

back.Her soul had to died along with her body.

Inuyasha looked to the ground, not being able to lie

to her face and sighed.

" No, nothing..."

" Good...then sundown?"

" Ehh?Sundown?"

" Yes sundown....meet me here."

" I....ahhhhh....."

Kikyo brushed her cold pointer finger across Inuyashas

lips in an attempt to hush him.She was successful and

was off before another word was spoken.

" DAMN!" Inuyasha snarled.

Naraku smiled as he watched the scene unfold before

his eyes from Kana's mirror.

" Excellent, Kikyo."

***********************

" INUYASHSA!" Came a young lady's voice.

Inuyasha turned to see Kagome running to his form with

Miroku, Sango , shippoand Kiara in fallow.

" Inuyasha are-"

" What?" He snapped.

Kagome jumped at his tone and took a step back as the

others looked on just as shocked.

" But Inuy-"

" But nothing....lets go."

Kagome sighed and decided to let it go.Besides she

already knew why he was acting this way.It was written

all over his face.

* Kikyo...*

" So...." Miroku stepped in." There was no woman in

Distress?"

WACK@#&%PUNCH...." Ow........."

" I feel better." Sango exclaimed brushing off her

hands with a satisfied smile.

*** Later at camp***

Sango, Miroku, and shippo were fast asleep, and

Inuyasha was perched high in a tree above the

group.Kagome on the other hand was finding it hard to

let sleep take her.

* I wonder what changed Inuyasha's mind

about stopping so early when he was determined to make

more ground before night? ....Why was he so on

edge?.....I know he saw Kikyo ..but what could she

have done to make him so angry?*

Inuyasha watched as the others slept away the night.He

looked to the sky and sighed. It was past sundown

but he could not help that.He wanted to make sure all

were asleep before he snuck from the camp.The last

thing he wanted was for Kagome to find out he was

going to see Kikyo.Inuyasha jump from the tree and was

off into the night.

Kagomes eyes shot open at the sound of feet on the

forest floor.She watched as Inuyasha disappeared into

the night.

* Where is he going?*

Kagome stood to her feet and flung her backpack onto

her shoulder.With out a moments hesitation Kagome was

off after him.It was not hard keeping up with him

considering she had to stay far enough behind not to

be seen herd...or even smelled for that matter.

Inuyasha finally arrived back where he had meet kikyo,

and sure enough there she was.

" Your late."Kikyo started.

" Well I am here so start talking."

Kikyo strolled slowly to Inuyasha.She threw her arms

around his form and pulled him close to her body.

Kagome arrived at the scene and stayed hidden out of

sight.

" Oh Inuyasha!" Kikyo cried into his shoulder." You

have been through so much because of me.I am so

sorry."

Inuyasha wrapped his arms around Kikyo's small form

and let a sigh pass his lips.

* Inuyasha you always were so gullible.*

" Shhhh.....it is ok." Inuyasha reassured.

" No....no it's not.I want to make it up to you

...and...Kagome."

" What?! Are you serious?!" Inuyasha choked

* Is she serious?*

" Yes..." Kikyo pulled from their embrace drying her

fake tears with the sleeve of her kimono." Yes I am.I

have given it much thought and...Kagome is to young to

have to be burdened with the shikon no tama.It was my

responsibility and still should be.She does not belong

in this era, Inuyasha."

Inuyasha hung his head and sighed." What is it your

trying to say, Kikyo?"

Kikyo lifted his head with the tips of her fingers,

and locked gazes with Inuyasha.

" Send her home....where she is safe from the terror

that lurks here in this era."

" WHAT!?"

Kagome gasped and took a step back....* he ..he

wouldn't..."

" Kikyo, Kagome is crucial to our group.If she leaves

we will never complete the Jewel.There is no w-"

" I will join your group and your quest to complete

the Jewel. I too can help in the same ways as she."

" But.."

" Inuyasha have you ever taken consideration of doing

what is best for Kagome?She has a whole other life in

her own time.I willing to bet her family worried days

on end about her safty.They are never sure if she is

alive and well or six feet under.....and Inuyasha....

you will not always be able to protect her."

Inuyasha closed his eyes suppressing the tears that

threatened to trail down his cheeks.He had never

thought about Kagome's needs, and having to face them

now was more then he could bare.

* No...Inuyasha don't.....I like being

here.....with you...*

Kagome let the unshed tears run freely down her red

cheeks.This was to much.She could already see it in

Inuyasha's eyes his answer.He was blinded by Kikyo

lies, and ran straight into her trap.

" Your right.Kagome is free to go home, and you...you

kikyo will take you place."

* No....no ....how could you

Inuyasha.....*

Kagome turned quickly and left the scene with a heavy

heart.

" I refuse to ruin her life, because of my selfish

dreams.I care to much for her to put her at risk."

" I am happy to hear that, Inuyasha." Kikyo grinned.

Her mission here was complete.

" I refuse to go back to camp."

Kagome was walking thought the forest brush not taking

notice to where she was headed.She did not care

honestly..well at least not at this particular moment

in time.

" I just can't....Does Inuyasha really want me gone?"

Kagome replayed the hurtful words that plagued her

mind.

" Am I hat difficult to be with , Inuyasha?...WELL YOU

CAN NOT EASILY REPLACE ME!!!"

Kagome fell to her shaky knees and was over come with

sobs.Minuets turned to hours as her mind went wild

with thoughts of Inuyasha's reasoning.Could he really

just discard her to the side?

Rain started to drizzle down on Kagome washing away

her tears.She lifted her head and gave her

surroundings a good look at for the first time since

she had arrived hours back.Nothing looked familiar to

her teary eyes.She slowly stood looking for any detail

that could be of any use as to where she might be.

" Oh...great..."

She started to walk taking more of the surroundings

in.The rain started to poor down blinding Kagome as

she forest became fogged.Her heart speed with her

rising fear.Kagome broke into a frantic sprint through

the forest.

Before Kagome had a chance to react she found herself

face down on the ground.She lifted her head slightly

to see what happened to be a small vacant hut.

Kagome did her best to stand from the wet ground, but

she was unsuccessful.The pain became evident as she

fell back to the cold forest floor.Cuts and bruises

covered her body and not to mention a large gash in

her knee from tripping.

" I...must get to shelter."

Kagome pushed the pain to the back of her mind for the

time being and forced herself to stand from the cold

wet ground.Her body was trembling from the cold Pierce

of the rain.She took a small step towards the

abandoned hut..then another ..and another....but with

every step she took the further the hut got.

* No...no this cant be an illusion...*

Tears started to trail down Kagome's cheek's as the

pain came forth once more.She collasped to the ground

as she gave up the hope of reaching the hut.This time

she let darkness take her.

" kikyo meet me back here tomorrow at noon.It would be

best if I talked to Kagome alone."

She simply nodded and was off into the night.

* What Am I going to tell her?*

Inuyasha sighed and returned back to camp, but Kagome

was no where to be seen.

" KAGOME!!!!"

" Inuyasha what is the matter?" Sango asked rising

from her sleeping bag.

" Do you know where Kagome is?"

" No...why?"

" Hey what's going on?" miroku asked rubbing his eyes

from sleep.

" Kagome is missing." Sango explained.

" Inuyasha, did you not hear her leave at anytime?"

" Well er...no I..I was not here."

" What did you say?" They both asked a bit confused.

" I was-"

Inuyasha stopped in mid sentence when he caught the

unmistakable sent that was Kagome's.

" I have no time to explain.Stay here in case Kagome

returns."

Inuyasha speed through the forest when her sent came

to a location where it lingered.Inuyasha gasped at

where it had led him.

* She was here.Did she hear me and

Kikyo?...oh gods Kagome..what have I done?*

He fallowed her sent until it came to a complete

stop.It was replaced with the smell of rain.Inuyasha

however did pick up the sent of salt.

* She was crying....*
