Chapter 1 In Her End Was Her Beginning

'Swimming in nothingness is my horror, living this life I had once thought was great, plentiful. How pathetic of me, to even believe my feelings were worth something... to even hope, to even care.'

Hot tears ran down her pale cheeks, thin and boney from lack of food for weeks, her thin skinny fingers clutched at the Shikon no Tama, in hopes of its warming glow to spread through the cold, dieing body of Kagome. The young miko mourned for no reason other than her self, or for hopes the gods would take pity on her heart and create another Inuyasha, or destroy the once dead Kikyou.

But alas it was the miko who granted her beloved's wish for her incarnation to be once again alive. Thus it was the mikos own fault for her suffering, that was why the gods did not answer her prayers.

Every day, ever since the defeat of Naraku and the reawaking of kikyou, kagome had kneeled by the small tranquil pool of crystal clear water that she had stumbled upon when she made her tearful flight through the youkai infested forest.

Not knowing where else to go, and not sane enough to care, kagome stayed, balled up, sobbing and muttering prayers under her ragged breath. Two pairs of golden, stoic, eyes watched the woman-child as she released her torrent of sorrows over and over again.

Sesshoumaru found himself each day standing over the girl, watching over her weakening spirit, not knowing any thing else that was of use. Now as he hovered just barley a foot away from her, angered that the woman that had defeated Naraku and his minions was now unaware of his well known presence. If it hadn't been for him, the miko would have been dead by now, the forest belonged to Sesshoumaru himself, and was one of the few he let youkais roam in. Day in day out he slaughtered any creature whom dared to even look at her. Wishing that each body he had run his venomous claws through was Inuyasha's body, the bastard who had broken such a beautiful and innocent heart.

The Tiayoukai snarled, 'Look at me, groveling at this bitch's feet like some weakling, why have I not just let her die, she will never get over my shitball of a brother. Worthless...'

His tall and slender form turned, walking away from the girl he had found him self falling for, or he thought he had.

Kagome laid there, her face pressed into the soft grass of the ground, her fingers absentmindedly running over the smooth, cool, surface of the pool she lay by. The other hand held something she had found while gazing in the water, something she planned on using. Odd that her only coherent thought of the last past few weeks were of ending the hell of her own making. She once thought that it was sin to take what belonged to the gods, but what did they care, who were they to question something like ending all her suffering. She knew nothing of the dark beauty that had watched over her, saving her life numerous times. She only knew of the constant stabbing in her heart. The feeling of complete loneliness, ' If only I were different would Inuyasha love me ore than that kikyou, if I had her brown eyes, maybe, if I had her figure, her mind, her character, maybe.' Kagome chocked on another sob, tears tunning down her bridge of her nose, and dropping to the moist ground below. 'If I had never come, I would now be siting in my living room argueing over whos turn it was to watch the Tv, or lisdtening to grandpa's long boring surmons of defending oneself against youkais. Anything but this place.. anything but here.'

She opened her bony fingures from asround the matallic abject, revealing the broken peice of a sword, blood from her hand glistened off the sleek surface as she raised it to her eye level.

'I hope this seems for the best Inuyasha.'

With a clumsy movement, Kagome brought the blade down onto her left rist, severing the vain, then bringing the bloodied blade to her right rist, where the hand still clutched the glowing jewel, that now had crimson running over its smooth shape, seeping through her still clutched fingeres.

'I hope..'
