Prologue

Hearts by Sesshou-chan Lover

Disclaimer: I do not, and will not, ever, in my entire entire entire life, own Inu-yasha (the show). :( (sigh) (mopes)

AN: I feel soooooooooooooooooooo guilty about starting this story, but the idea just popped up!! Sorry!!! But hopefully, you guys will like it – it's FULL of romance. And to keep the suspense off, I'll type up 3 chapters before I start posting them. Meaning that the third chapter will have one of my famous cliffies...lol...don't kill me!! The 3 chapters will be posted every week, one for each, since I have other work to do...or maybe I should just post the prologue to give you a taste of the story...hey, that's a good idea! (FULL of fluff later on!)

Chapter 1: Prologue

Tiny 6 year old Kagome Higurashi plopped down on one of the swing sets of the area's park, with her 4 year old sister Rin. They giggled, and laughed, swinging higher and higher, the amused eyes of the parents watching them. Next to them could be seen Inu-yasha and Sesshoumaru, close friends of the family. The two hyper children were now seeing who could go the highest. Mr. and Mrs. Higurashi were sitting on a bench, talking calmly though watching at the same time.

Mr. and Mrs. Takahashi were taking turns pushing the children, and cries of,

"NO FAIR!" were heard. Finally, the children got tired of swinging, and hopped off. The two brothers ran towards the seesaw, with the girls close behind them. Little Rin fell over, and Kagome, thinking she tripped, ran over to help her up.

"Rin, get up!! We can't let the boys," she made a face, "get the seeeee-sa first!" She held up her hand for Rin to take. But, it was then that she noticed there was no sound coming from her.

"MOMMY!! DADDY!! RIN'S NOT MOVING!" Kagome cried, and ran toward her parents. Both pairs of parents rushed to them quickly, and the boys had gotten off the 'see-saw' to see what had happened.

"Kothana, quick, hurry up, call an ambulance!" Mr. Higurashi cried. "Her...she's had a heart attack."

-------

(AN: I suppose it would be really mean to end it there, so I'll just add a few more to take of the cliffie...)

3 hours later, Mr. Higurashi and Mr. Takahashi emerged from the operating room, wearing their doctor's robes, and looked at the worried faces of the families.

"She's fine," he said. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief. "But...it seems that she has inherited my serious heart condition from me..." Mr. Higurashi said sadly, somewhat ashamed. Mrs. Higurashi walked up to him, and hugged him lightly.

"Okaa-san? What's a heart condition?" Kagome asked curiously.

"Well, you see Kagome-chan, a 'heart condition' is something really bad that happens to someone when they might go to sleep and never wake up again..." Mrs. Takahashi answered for her best friend, who seemed a bit too shaken up.

"But daddy fixed her, didn't he?" Kagome asked her curiously.

"Yes, but your daddy, who is a doctor, can't always fix things." Mrs. Takahashi answered.

"Then I want to be a doctor when I grow up!" Kagome said, sticking her thumb up in the air, grinning. The adults smiled, walked into the room that had been set up for Rin, and the children followed slowly, not knowing that they would be in the hospital for much more than they bargained for in the future.

SCL: There, that wasn't a cliffie, wasn't it?

Sesshoumaru: It wasn't really. But it wasn't a good ending either.

SCL: Well, it wasn't exactly a story! It's a goddamn prologue! This idea just popped out of nowhere...

Inu-Yasha: You barely mentioned me! And I HATE Sesshoumaru!

Sesshoumaru: We are half brothers, not brothers.

SCL: Well, it's MY story and I made it that way!!

Kagome: Rin has a heart disease?? (lip trembles)

Sesshoumaru: Um...yes...but nothing will happen to her, RIGHT?

SCL: Um...yeah...(stares at glowing hands)
