I'm sorry Inuyasha by Lady_Dark_Kitten

Chapter One

The day was dark, Kagome looked up to see the clouds ever head growing darker... she looked ahead down the trail and sighed as the rain started to softly fall on her. She kept walking not wanting Inuyasha to catch her. She adjusted her pack wishing once again that she didn't pack so much crap in it. She stayed her course reminiscing about her savior...

{Flash back}

Running, running, must find Inuyasha was her last thought as fatigue caught up with her and she fell to the harsh ground a plume of dust settling around her. She didn't come to until she felt a hand on her back. She squirmed and wiggled but it wasn't enough the giant oni picked her up by the back of her shirt and turned her around to face him. She swallowed hard... how was she going to get out of this one?

"Give me the shards girl." Kagome steeled her self if she was going to die she might as well do it with her dignity and do what was right.

"No!" she swung forward and kicked it in the face, the thing dropped her as it yelped.

Kagome had enough time to stand and run getting a good lead again. Then she hit something hard and she stumbled back landing on her ass. She looked up and her eyes widened as Sesshoumaru's the cold amber orbs looked down on her. She wasn't sure what was worse the oni or Inuyasha's half brother. He looked up as the thing came a round the corner.

"That's mine." Sesshoumaru eyed the snarling slobbering beast indifferently, pathetic he thought.

"That is not yours." Kagomes eyes widened he was sticking up for her... why?

"Hand her here dog ..." Sesshoumaru's eyes narrowed and Kagome could see a crimson glint amongst the gold. "Or I'll." He paused as Sesshoumaru's eyes darkened.

"Or you'll what?" the oni started to quiver as he took a step toward it.

The thing looked at Kagome then Sesshoumaru and thought it better to get it later as he turned tail and ran. Sesshoumaru looked at Kagome on the ground and blinked. She thought she saw slight puzzlement in his frozen honey eyes. She started to stand up and he walked toward her. She could feel all the hairs on the back of her neck bristle and stand on end.

"Th... thank you Sesshoumaru." Even though you don't care she silently said to her self. She started to walk when she felt a large clawed hand fall on her shoulder strangely the touch was light instead of the strong grasp she expected.

"Why do you think I saved you wench?" her eyes widened as she turned on him thinking that she would regret this later.

"I am not a wench... my name is Kagome." He narrowed his eyes at her.

"I am well aware of that." This only added to her anger.

"Then why don't you call me that?" he raised an eyebrow at her making her freeze; she thought she was going to collapse again. His face moved and he wasn't angry well as far as she could tell.

"I don't feel it is necessary yet." As fast as he came he left.

{End}

She ran into Inuyasha and the others later on with no more visitors. She relayed the entire story and as normal Inuyasha grumbled about her being gone. Then the usual fights began.

Kagome shook her head. Why was Inuyasha such a jerk? Kagome watched the ground for a moment. As she stopped to reflect on her time here and she watched the raindrops dance across the surface of a puddle. She huffed, her anger had faded but she was still hurt... seeing him with her. Tears started to gather as she thought about the look in his eyes when he saw her. He looked like a child with his hand in the cookie jar, guilty.

She started to walk again thinking about all the times she knew Sesshoumaru was watching. When Inuyasha was so engrossed in fighting or complaining or he just flat wasn't paying attention. She wondered if he was watching now. Kagome could hear a pair of feet splashing water and pounding at the ground behind her. She already knew who it was; she stopped and peeked behind her. He was standing there soaked to the bone just like she was.

"Kagome..." his voice was soft and hesitant. She turned to him and he could faintly see a crescent shape on her forehead as the wind blew her hair away from her face.

"What's that?" his eyes where wide and she looked around completely forgetting what they where talking about for the moment anyway.

"What's what Inuyasha?" she furrowed her brow realizing that he was looking at her. "What!" she cried in frustration. He pointed to his own forehead.

"You, you have a crescent moon on your forehead." His words died out sinking into her mind and swallowed by the rain.

"I what?" Kagome was dumbfounded.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN WHAT? YOU HAVE A FUCKING MOON ON YOUR FOREHEAD!" she scowled as warm salty tears mingled with the pure raindrops that battered her cheeks.

"God why do you have to yell at me all the time?" she clenched her hands into fists at her side. "That's why I'm going home I need a brake from the fighting." She turned away.

"Brakes... we cant take a brake we have to..." She looked at him again.

"I know but if I don't get away from you I'm going to have a nervous brake down or I'll freaking explode!" She turned around and started to walk.

She knew he was watching her go. When she knew he was out of site she lost her composure and dropped her pack to quickly rummage threw it. She pulled out a compact and held it up to her forehead. There it was a small crescent moon like Sesshoumaru's. She would have thought it was gray till it sparkled when a ray of sunlight poked out of the clouds then it revealed that it was a pail aqua.

Kagome stood up dazed and confused as she finished her walk to the well she started to feel funny. She looked around feeling a tug when she found the source Sesshoumaru was right there. Her eyes widened as she traced the crescent on her forehead, wondering what was going on.

"Why?" she leaned back on the edge of the well.

"What do you mean... this?" he nodded. "I don't know how it got there." he narrowed his eyes at her seeing no lie he wondered what had happened to bring this on. "What is it?" he had to catch a small smile from flitting across his face. He took a few steps toward her and traced the mark with his claw feeling a tingle run threw his finger and up his arm... so it is real. Why did this happen he frowned and she sidestepped.

"Why a human?" he groaned in an icy fashion he locked eyes with her and she seemed to get lost in his depths. "You are coming with me." She took another step back.

"What the hell do you mean with you?" he walked over and picked her up propelling him self off the ground before she could protest. She looked down and yelped pulling her self closer to him

Inuyasha walked away from where Kagome had bit him farewell. Why was I so stupid... maybe she'll forgive me like she always dose. Then he recalled the deep loss in her eyes, her pain was like a void. Who will she go to? Kouga that's who, there's no one else he knew of.

When he got back to camp his ears where plastered to his head and the rain had stopped falling. Every one looked at him expectantly. But Kagome was not in tow. Then there was the flurry of questions that always fallowed, he just told them she went home for a bit. And of coarse next he was battered with accusations that it was his fault, most of which came from Shippo...but he didn't protest he just sat next to the fire and watched it. When Shippo was done and everyone was going to bed Inuyasha climbed up in a tree. He watched as the swiftly waning moon ventured across the sky.

Kagome was relived when she felt Sesshoumaru's feet lightly hit the ground. He set her down and she looked at her surroundings seeing a guard wall. When she came full circle a beautiful castle met her. She looked up at Sesshoumaru. What was he going to do with her?

"Jaken." The small toad seemed to pop up out of nowhere.

"Yes Sesshoumaru-sama." He looked over to see Kagome and yelped. "Master why is she here?" he looked at Kagome then stepped on the toad's head.

"Try to be more observant." he pointed at Kagomes forehead and Jaken about fainted. "Now get her a room ready next to mine." The toad gulped eyeing Kagome.

"Yes Sesshoumaru-sama." The hideous creature waddled away.

"Sesshoumaru?" he looked at her calmly. "Why am I here?" he took a step toward her and again traced the mark on her forehead.

"That is why you are here." Her eyes widened. "You wouldn't have the mark if you didn't approve, you have no choice from here on in and nether do I." Why her? There where plenty of female youkai that wanted him. She watched him for a moment letting it sink in

"I didn't want to be here with you!" he narrowed his eyes at her. "Why would I want to spend my time with a cold asshole." She said it only in anger and was about to regret it. Sesshoumaru grabbed her by the throat and pulled her close.

"Do not ever refer to me in such a manner." He let go and she nodded.

"I'm sorry, Sesshoumaru?" he watched her for a moment. "What dose the mark mean?" he frowned and turned away; being that close to her was making his blood run hot.

"I will explain after dinner." He calmly walked away and a little human girl came running out then attached her self to the demon lord's leg.

"Sesshoumaru-sama your back... Rin missed you so much." He looked down at her trying to keep a strait face.

"Rin you need to wash up for dinner." She grinned at him.

"Yes Sesshoumaru-sama." Then she looked back to see Kagome timidly making her way over. "Who's that Sesshoumaru-sama." She cried as she ran over to Kagome.

"That is Kagome... Rin take her with you to the bath house I will have the servants bring her something more appropriate." She nodded and tugged at Kagomes arm.

"Come on Kagome." Kagome fallowed the eager child and looked at the stoic Sesshoumaru on the way by. His eyes glimmered with something; it was too hard to tell because she had never seen him show emotions before.

As Kagome fallowed the little girl threw the lavish halls she had nearly chatted the young miko's ear off. They finally stopped in front of a pair of door and Rin looked at Kagome. Kagome move forward and opened the door seeing a hot spring as large as an indoor pool. Rin grabbed her arm and dragged her in.

"Come on Kagome we have to hurry dinner will be soon." The little girl striped and jumped in the pool and kagome did the same.

They washed then splashed and played. The girl was wonder full, she might as well enjoy her time with out Sesshoumaru... then it hit her as they got out and started to dry. She didn't want to be with out him. She scratched her head as she put a simple blue kimono with the help of Rin. The last time she wore one she was about Rin's age.

"There how do I look Rin?" the girl smiled at her as she pined her hair back revealing the moon.

"Sesshoumaru will like it you are very pretty." Kagome looked at the girl funny.

"What do you mean he will like it?" Rin frowned.

"You don't see it?" Kagome shook her head.

"See what Rin?" the girl giggled uncontrollably.

"He likes you." Kagomes blood froze...he what?

"How do you know that Rin?" she grinned at Kagome again.

"Because he pretends to be mean but he's not. And why would you be here if he didn't like you." Kagome considered it for a moment and nodded. Rin proceeded to drag Kagome off to the dining hall where Sesshoumaru was already sitting.

"Your late." Kagomes eyes widened wondering what he was going to do.

"We are sorry Sesshoumaru-sama, but we had lots of fun!" he looked at Kagome and she smiled weakly, he nodded and Rin sat in a chair next to him.

Sesshoumaru gestured to the other chair next to him. Kagome sat uncomfortably as the food was set in front of her. They ate quietly and Sesshoumaru frequently glanced at Kagome absently focused on the ghostly moon that now adorned Kagomes fair skin.

Sesshoumaru finished before the girls did. He signaled a servant as he walked to the door. He stopped as the servant reached the door and whispered something to the small Inu woman. She nodded and stood by the door.

He walked down the hallway considering how he was going to tell her that because he had not chosen a mate fate chose one for him. He silently cursed him self for neglecting the matter of hares. When he reached his room Jaken was standing by the door a concerned look had settled on his toad like features.

"Sesshoumaru-sama..." he looked down strait faced as ever. "The wench..." he scowled.

"Yes Jaken." He looked at the ground.

"What are you going to do?" Jaken looked up at him that same question had haunted him since he snagged the girl. And for once he didn't have an answer.

"That is none of your concern." Sesshoumaru opened the door and gently closed it behind him.

He looked out the window to the garden and frowned. He had no choice but to except it... it was to late. He hated to be cornered. He disrobed and put on a lose pair of sleeping pants. Then he waited wondering why her, for some unknown reason there had always been a strange emptiness in him. Until he saw her by the well with that mark on her forehead.

Kagome sat at the table with Rin talking with the girl as she ate. She wanted to take as long as possible; she was not looking forward to the meeting to come. But part of her didn't want to wait she wanted to know. Rin looked at her as she pushed her plait away.

"I'm full. Are you going to see Sesshoumaru-sama now?" Kagome nodded.

"So I'm told." Rin looked at her funny and Kagome waved her hand. "Never mind, yes I am." Rin smiled at her then looked at the door as a not so happy Jaken walked in.

"Rin are you done yet?" he tapped his foot at her and the girl smiled.

"Yes Jaken-sama." The little girl eagerly clamored out of her set and skipped after the squat demon. The Inu woman at the door looked at Kagome expectantly and was examining the mark on her forehead suspiciously. Kagome hung her head and got up as she approached the door she looked at the woman, she was still examining Kagomes face.

"What go ahead touch it to see if it's real." Kagome boldly stated as she lifted her backs out of the way. The woman chewed on her lip then timidly reached out and drew her fingers over the mark. She quickly pulled back and looked at the ground.

"I... I'm sorry but." Kagome smiled and giggled at the woman making her look up in surprise.

"Don't worry if it was someone else I wouldn't believe it ether." The woman sighed. "now show me where Sesshoumaru is." The woman nodded her eyes wide at the fact that this human girl would refer to her lord in such a disrespectful manor.

The Inu woman walked Kagome threw the lavish twisting halls. Servants where bustling about but quickly moved out of their path and looked at the floor. Kagome furrowed her brow; she wasn't important or was she? When she looked forward the Inu woman was harboring a secret smile then looked at her the smile fading.

"Word travels fast when Sesshoumaru-sama brings someone home, especially a woman..." she paused and looked forward a again. "It travels even faster because you are human." She stopped in front of a door and knocked.

"Yes" the closed door muffled the unmistakable voice of Sesshoumaru.

"Sesshoumaru-sama I have brought your guest as you requested." She stepped back from the door and gestured for Kagome to move in front of her.

"Let her in." the woman didn't answer but instead reached around kagome and opened the door. As it opened kagome walked forward and gazed at the large warm room. Suddenly the door behind her was shut. "Come here and sit." She looked at her host as he gestured to a chair next to him.

"Why am I here Sesshoumaru?" she sat carefully in the plush chair.

"You know why, just not the specifics." He eyed her as he fiddled with a righting brush.

"Then tell me." She was starting to get testy; she hated to get the run around. The taiyoukai sighed and set the brush on the table.

"Occasionally you feel a seemingly infallible emptiness even when you're with the hanyou brat," Kagomes eyes widened and he lifted an eyebrow. "Am I wrong?" she shook her head.

"But what..." he scowled at her.

"You didn't let me finish human." She bit her tongue and narrowed her eyes at him waiting for him to continue. "He shifted in his seat looking uncomfortable and the expression caught her off guard. "I have yet to have chosen a mate..." Kagome felt as if she was going to pass out, why on gods green earth was Inuyasha's 'emotionless' brother talking about such privet things with her but instead she just blinked in shock. He started to rub the bridge of his nose. "That mark..." he huffed and stood up turning away form her.

"And that has what to do with me?" he glared at her over his shoulder.

"Feel honored Kagome," he turned to her his eyes where glazed. "The higher powers for reasons that are beyond my grasp have chosen you to be my mate." This time Kagome did faint; she would have hit the floor had Sesshoumaru not caught her.

Sesshoumaru huffed and put her on his bed then returned to his desk. He looked over some work he had been putting off and waited for his mate to wake up. The thought that a human was chosen as his mate stung his pride, but what he hated most was that when he looked at her his 'unfillable emptiness' was filled. He grumbled and continued to work.

Kagome woke some time later but didn't move or open her eyes. She was shocked to her core, how could the powers that be do that to her and him? This was wrong...but it felt right. She slowly opened her eyes and blinked the sleep away. She sat up to see Sesshoumaru bent over on his desk sleeping. She quietly got up and ventured over putting her hand on his shoulder, she knew it was a bad idea but she couldn't stop her self.

"Sesshoumaru..." his eyes shot open and he whipped around grabbing her by the throat, when he saw who it was he let go.

"Go... your quarters are on the left right next to mine." Her eyes narrowed at him as she swiftly turned and left slamming the door behind her. He grumbled something about females as he walked over to his bed and let him self fall in and curl up to sleep wondering why he felt bad about yelling at her.

Kagome opened the door to her room and looked at one thing the bed in front of her. She ran over and flopped on it pulling one of the pillows close to her. She was crying and she didn't know why since when did she care what he thought about or said to her. She sadly pondered it as she drifted off to sleep.

Kagome woke the next morning to see her host standing to the doorway to her room. He had his arms crossed and was leaning on the doorframe. She sat up and watched him as he walked over. He pulled a chair that was at a desk over in front to her and sat.

"What?" he narrowed his eyes at her and she shifted uncomfortably under his icy gaze.

"When did plan on returning to my brother?" she furrowed her brow.

"I don't know. Why?" his eyes hardened.

"You shall stay with me then." She scowled at him.

"What do you mean stay with you... I don't want to stay here." Another lie her cinchonas told her, she didn't want to leave not yet any way.

"You have no choice." He stood up and walked to the door. "You may wander where ever you wish." Kagome frowned as he closed the door behind him.

"If you're going to make me stay you could at least spend some time with me..." she covered her mouth trying to deny what had just slithered out of her mouth.

She looked at the desk and there was some righting material so she got up and seated her self in the chair what was recently inhabited by Sesshoumaru. She dipped the brush in the ink well and started to paint, she just wasn't in the mood to right. She had after many hours of careful labor finished a picture of a dragon a Kirin and a phoenix playing amongst the clouds. She looked it over carefully and realized that she had an art project that she had to do... this would do perfectly she thought to her self. Then she started to right finding sudden inspiration from her predicament.

Else where in the castle Sesshoumaru was going about his daily business. He was board to death, as much as he wanted to deny it he wanted to go see Kagome. He spent all day in meeting with ambassadors talking about this that and the other. And they where always righting up treads or trade agreements, when the day was done he went to his room to get comfortable before dinner.

As he approached the door to his room he heard quiet singing coming from Kagomes room with strange music. He cracked open the door to see the girl reading a book with a strange thing on her head. This thing was the source of the music and Kagome was singing softly...

{{Please don't let go

Can't we stay for a while?

It's just too hard to say goodbye

Listen to the rain...}}

Lovely as the strange song was he walked in closing the door behind him. He watched her as the door slid into place making a soft thud. She never looked up as she continued to sing. He frowned and walked up putting his hand on her shoulder making her jump.

"And just what the hell did you do that for?" he smirked.

"You couldn't hear me with that thing on your head." She huffed at him.

"There called head phones and I was listening to music before you rudely interrupted me." She pushed a button on the CD player and put it aside. "Now what do you want... are you here to bitch at me more?" she looked down at the bed. He shocked her again when she felt his hand on her shoulder.

"No..." she looked up at him as he sat on the edge of the bed. She felt a shiver run up her spine as he eyed her softly. Then suddenly his eyes changed, he stood up and started to leave.

"Now wait just a damn minuet." He looked back at her as she stood up on the bed and stepped off. "Why do you always do that?" she stopped just behind him and started to tap her foot.

"I didn't want you here..." she grabbed his sleeve as he started to walk away so he looked back again to see her eyes tearing up. He frowned... he didn't mean to make her cry.

"We got thrown into this, its not my fault..." tears started to snake down her face. "I have feelings you know and so do you..." or else he wouldn't look at me like that right? "WHY CAN'T YOU AT LEAST BE NICE TO ME..." she turned away and started to walk to the bed. Now he felt really bad, he sighed heavily.

"Kagome..." he walked up behind her catching her by the shoulder, she looked back at him. He had never apologized for anything, ever. But he didn't want her to be upset... so what choice did he have. "I'm sorry..." he nearly choked on the new addition to his vocabulary. She smiled faintly as he for reasons beyond him pulled her close wrapping his arms around her.

"Its ok..." he let go and she moved away blushing. She looked at him thoughtfully. He raised an eyebrow wondering what she was thinking. She opened her mouth to say something then promptly shut it. "Never mind." She turned around and lay back down in the bed. He looked at her funny then walked over and sat next to her making her sit up and blush more, then she started to squirm. Then he realized she was a virgin, why didn't he smell it before now?

"Kagome?" she shook her head and relaxed.

"I'm ok... I just..." he wrapped an arm around her pulling her in his lap. I guess once you start you can't stop.

"Don't worry Kagome, your safe with me." She suddenly relaxed into his embrace leaning on him, this is what she wanted but she never expected it. Why? Why did fate pick her?

"Sesshoumaru..." he pulled back and looked at her, could it be the hormones? "Why me?" he furrowed his brow.

"I don't know, but dose it really matter now?" Kagome shook her head as he stood up and walked to the door.

She laid down on the futon and watched him leave. She rolled over and closed her eyes trying to get some sleep. But she just tossed and turned. Finally she just got up then grabbed a robe that was near the door and wandered the halls.

Sesshoumaru opened his eyes when he heard Kagomes door opened. He thought about getting up to see what she was doing but decided against it, if she was going to be his mate he had to learn to trust her. He rolled over, stupid fate... a human... now the two things he hated most where going to be living under his roof. She must be the exception to the rule, and his hair would be the same. There was always an exception to the rule. As he thought on that he slowly drifted off to sleep.

Eventually she came to a door the lead to a garden, she opened it and stepped out and a chilled wind rushed threw the trees and flowers. She looked at one of the trees it was a cherry tree. She walked over and sat under it.

She looked up into the tree branches, could she stay here? She could stay here with him. Did she love him? She reached up and felt the moon on her forehead; it started to tingle and became warm. She must, if she didn't then why would the powers that be pick her. She leaned against the tree and sighed. She wanted to stay, she dose love him. But she couldn't stay; she had to collect the shards. Her heart tightened what would he say? How was she going to tell him?

She got up and looked up to the sky seeing that the sun was starting to rise. She started to walk back to her room. She had to get some sleep. When she got there she slowly and quietly opened the door, taking such care not to wake him up failed as he opened his eyes again hearing the door. She tripped and barely caught her self. When she opened her eyes her nose was only inches off the floor. She lurched onto the futon pulling the comforter over her and she quickly dropped into a dead sleep; nothing could have disturbed her.

He rolled over as he heard her hit the floor; he raised his head and looked over his shoulder to the wall. He got up and walked over to the wall pushing a small rotating panel. He peeked in seeing that she was passed out on her bed he slipped in and walked over. He knelt next to her and brushed a stray lock of hair out of her face. She looked fine so he stood up and started to walk back to the panel in the wall but he looked back at her. He frowned, he cursed this tern of events again as he closed the panel and walked back over to the futon. He sat on the floor and lifted the blanket carefully then slipped in next to her.

She shifted pushing her self closer to him. He lifted on arm and placed it under his head then the other over her waist. She sighed and relaxed against him, he lifted his tail out from under the blanket. Then laid it on the other side of her, she rolled over and tucked her head under his chin then took a deep breath.

I Can See The Wide Horizons

But Debts Have To Be Paid

Our Ways Will Cross Again Someday

Believe, And Come Back To You...I'll See You Soon

Sesshoumaru was the first to wake but he didn't move, he couldn't bring him self to. She was so beautiful then she frowned and pushed her self closer to him. He wondered what she was dreaming about, and then a tear rolled down her face. He frowned what was wrong? He pressed his forehead on hers, as their moons met he was sucked into her dream. This is not what he intended, he thought to him self as he looked around seeing a forest and a well; she was sitting next to it. He only wanted to feel why she was crying. He frowned as he walked over to her.

"I don't want to leave." He heard her murmur in between the tears. Leave? Why would she have to leave? He walked over and sat next to her but she did see him. "I don't want to leave him, I love him." His heart stopped... she loves me? She stood up and walked away from the well. Then everything faded.

He woke up and pulled away to look at her face, he moved his hand to her face wiping some of her tears away. She opened her eyes and looked at him, his eyes where soft and his chest was bare. She was still in her nightgown so nothing happened right? No nothing happened she thought... if it did then I would remember it.

"Good morning Kagome." Her heart skipped a beat.

"What happened?" she looked around as she sat up.

"Nothing." She looked at him. "I heard you hit the floor when you came in last night and came in to see if you where ok." She frowned and remembered stumbling then landing on the futon, she nodded.

"And your in my bed why?" he lifted an eyebrow as he pushed him self up on one arm.

"You are my mate." She sighed.

"Your right." She walked over and sat next to him on the futon. "What do you think about me?" his eye started to twitch, he wasn't prepared for that question. What did he think of her? She looked up at him.

"I think..." she frowned at his pause, he could feel his moon start to warm and tingle. He made a strange face; it had never done that before. He looked at her and pulled her into his lap and the tingling started to fade, he took a deep breath. He was going off the deep end. "I think you are beautiful, sweet, and loving." She frowned at the normal line. He made a face at her as she got up. "What?" she looked back at him seeing that the great lord of the western land was confused. His face didn't show it but his eyes did.

"In my time girls hear that all the time..." she paused and looked at the ground. "When men are trying to avoid..." he frowned at her as the confutation cleared.

"You asked what I thought of you..."she looked at him her frown deepened. "Not what I felt about you." she sat next to him and watched his eyes.

"Then how do you feel about me?" this time he was prepared he pulled her into his lap again so they where nose-to-nose.

"I love you." Kagomes eyes widened, she didn't seem to expect a direct answer.

He took her head in his hands and kissed her. Her eyes widened more then she wrapped her arms around him pulling him close. Then she pulled away and buried her head in his shoulder. He wrapped his arms around her as she started to cry, what the hell was with women. Then he remembered what he saw in the dream.

"Sessh..."he tightened his grip on her.

"Why do you have to leave?" she pulled back and looked at him wide-eyed.

"How?" he put a hand on her cheek, he opened up and now the person he opened up to was going to leave.

"Dose it matter?" she shook her head and eyed him.

"I have to find the rest of the shards." He nodded, he had completely forgot about that.

"So you will be traveling with the hanyou?" she frowned at him but pushed the rude reference to her friend aside.

"Yes..." she looked at the floor then she looked back at him. "I promise I will come back." He looked out the window. "I'm sorry... but I have to go." He looked at her and nodded. She leaned close to him but hesitated then she put her hand on the back of his neck and kissed him. She pulled back and frowned clenching her jaw trying to hold her tears back.

Suddenly he pulled her close squeezing her as she rested her head on his chest. She wrapped her arm around his waist. Biting her tongue still trying to keep her tears at bay. He loosened his grip then moved his hands to her shoulder pulling her away from his chest so she was looking at him.

"You will stay with me for today, then you will be allowed to leave." Kagome smiled at him and lunged at him putting her arms around him pulling him close. She hit him so hard that she pushed him over. He grunted as he hit the ground, she grinned at him. He sat up then stood pulling her with him

It was like the Saturdays she used to have before she fell into the well. They had breakfast then lounged around in the garden watching Rin play. Kagome played hide and go seek with her sitting next to Sesshoumaru when she was supposed to be looking for the little girl. She played with her little brother all the time so she knew how to look with out really trying. They had lunch and lounged around a bit more before Sesshoumaru and kagome took a walk leaving Rin with Jaken.

It was leisurely, not a lot of talking they where just spending time with each other in a comfortable silence. When they finally stopped for a break they sat on a bench after a few minuets Kagome lay on her back and put her head in Sesshoumaru's lap. She watched his eyes for a moment before switching to her side. He put his hand on her shoulder knowing what she was thinking.

"I don't want to leave." He rubbed her shoulder.

"I don't want you to leave..." she looked up at him a new tear slid down her cheek. She moved into his lap and rested her head on his chest.

What's wrong with me? He thought. I have a human in my lap leaning on me... looking for my comfort. He wrapped his arms around her. And he was giving her his comfort, his love. He never thought about loving someone, he always thought of love as a weakness. It was this weakness that made his father fall, his weakness for humans.

I wish I could stay..." he frowned.

"Are you going to wait to leave until after dinner?" she nodded and he smiled a bit "good..." she pulled back and frowned at him.

"Why?" he looked at her and blinked realizing that he said that out loud.

"Because I have something for you." he kissed her on the forehead. He slid her off his lap and stood walking with her back to the castle.

Dinner was as slow as they could make it. Rin was excused half way threw the meal and Jaken took her to have a bath, grumbling the entire time about being a nanny. When Kagome and Sesshoumaru did finish he took her to his mothers room. She stopped at the door marveling at the lavishly decorated room. He appeared in her field of vision suddenly making her jump; he presented her with a small box. He handed it to her and she took it looking it over.

"What is this?" he raised his eyebrow.

"Just open it." she frowned and looked at the box again then slowly opened it.

Inside was a small ring that was made of silver. It looked like woven vines that ended in leafs that held a bluish green stone. She reached up and touched the aqua moon on her forehead. What she didn't know is that it was no longer the ghostly symbol it was; it was the same color as the stone.

"Its..." she looked at him and she could see the corners of his lips turn up.

"It matches your moon." Her eyes widened. "And its for you..." his jaw tightened. "Whether you come back or not." She frowned.

"But I promised to come back." He nodded. But that's not what he meant; he knew she would come back. It was a matter of whether she came back to him... or just to see him.

"I'll take you back." She nodded as she put the ring on.

They walked out into the garden after she said good-bye to Rin. He picked her up but before he could take off she grabbed his jaw and gently pulled his face to hers then kissed him. He held her close relishing what could be his last kiss.

When they parted he leapt into the sky headed for the hut. She curled close to him biting back the tears. When they landed just out of sight he set her down. And kissed her forehead then started to turn away but she grabbed his arm.

"You should walk with me..." he frowned, "Inuyasha will smell you on me you might as well." She toyed with her ring. "I'll tell them you saved me." He nodded and fallowed her out of the woods.

Inuyasha jumped up and started to growl. Everyone grabbed their weapons. But instead of drawing his sword like they expected he looked just down at Kagome as she walked up to them like nothing was wrong. She looked back at Sesshoumaru who was standing just inside the light of the fire she smiled at him. The dim flickering light cast a hellish glow on his angelic face; no one else could see the sad tone to his features.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Sesshoumaru looked at Inuyasha and narrowed his eyes. He didn't want kagome to go with his basterd brother; Inuyasha could never protect her the way he could. "Well?" he looked at Kagome who was still smiling softly at him. He could see her moon start to fade her smile never waned. He wondered if it was just hiding from the rest of them, he looked back at his half brother and scanned the rest of the party. His eyes settled on Kagome again as she looked behind her then back to him.

"Thank you Sesshoumaru." He nodded and he watched her turn away. Sesshoumaru tightened standing fast, he could barely keep him self from snatching her up and taking her back with him.

Kagome was biting her tongue to keep the tears. Everyone lowered their weapons in confutation, and then Inuyasha took Kagome by the shoulders making her stiffen. Sesshoumaru narrowed his eyes and his jaw locked into place. Inuyasha pulled kagome close eyeing Sesshoumaru completely ignoring the fact that kagome was stiff as a board. He finally let go and stepped back his hands still on her shoulders.

"Kagome are you ok?" she looked back at Sesshoumaru as he stiffly turned and took off. She bit her tongue again; she couldn't let any of them see her cry. She had to protect Sesshoumaru's dignity, and she couldn't let Inuyasha know that she loves his half brother. It would devastate him, she looked back at Inuyasha and smiled weakly at him.

"Yes I'm fine..." she played with the ring some more. "He saved me from a demon." Inuyasha eyed her suspiciously, he could smell Sesshoumaru allover her. He must have carried her here; beyond that he couldn't smell anything she was wearing that perfume again. He nodded and looked at the ring.

"Where'd you get that?" she smiled having the perfect lie.

"Mama gave it to me for good luck." He nodded again and everyone sat by the fire.

They chatted and things of that nature. Kagome seemed to be somewhere else but it wasn't the first time. She frequently thought about thing in her time. They went to bed and where off the next morning.

Time Doesn't Say Hello

Total Eclipse Of The Moon

Many Nights In Our Lives Before

I Was Dreaming To Be Just Beside...Beside You

6 months later

"Kagome..." Inuyasha ran up beside her and smiled. She smiled weakly at him.

"Yes Inuyasha..." he watched her and one of his ear twitched.

"We did it, we killed him. Don't you realize it we're free." she tried to keep the smile on her face as she held up the jewel. "So what now?" she looked at him and blinked then traced where the moon had been on her forehead.

"I don't know." She put the jewel in a box and put it in her pocket then started to play with her ring. The small trinket brought her comfort. Inuyasha unexpectedly wrapped his arm around her shoulder. She stopped and looked at him.

"Kagome..." he turned the young miko to him and pulled her into a hug. "I want to be with you." Kagome stiffened, what about Sesshoumaru was her first thought. "Please." He squeezed her and she wrapped her arms around him.

She ignored the little voice telling her that Inuyasha couldn't fill the void. It told her she needed Sesshoumaru. It told her that she loved him.

"Ok." He squeezed her again, this will work she told her self. Inuyasha finally told Kikyo no and Naraku was gone they managed to save Kohaku... everything was right. Wasn't it? This was what she wanted all along wasn't it?

Miroku and Sango got together. He went to visit his father's grave and she took Kohaku to the ruins of their village. When they returned everyone kind of hung around the village in a sort of limbo not sure what to do next. Kagome had been going back and forth for school; partly because she wanted to finish and maybe get a part time job. Most of it was to avoid Inuyasha's advances telling him she wasn't ready or she didn't have time. Telling him that she had things to do. And that was true to a point.

Fleeting images of Sesshoumaru frequently woke her up or they wouldn't let her sleep. When it happened she sat on the porch of the little hut the village built for them and watched the sky. On one such night she saw the moon peek threw the clouds and she absently reached up and rubbed her forehead. Then she heard Inuyasha walk up behind her; she looked back at him as he sat next to her. Then she felt her forehead start to tingle as he rested his hand on her shoulder making her go rigged. She looked back at the sky trying to hide her forehead; the moon was returning. She couldn't do this... she just wasn't happy. Her heart tightened, why did she do this?

"Kagome what's wrong?" she looked back at him. A guilty sadness clamed her beautiful face.

Then the wind brushed her bangs aside showing Inuyasha the moon. She stood up and stepped off the porch. He narrowed his eyes at her remembering when it first appeared then she showed up with Sesshoumaru tagging along. What was this about?

"I'm sorry Inuyasha." she took a few steps away and looked back at the moon that ironically enough was a crescent.

"What do you mean... you're sorry?" she could hear his feet falling on the soft grass.

"I just... I'm sorry." His ears flattened hearing the sadness that had grown in her. "I can't stay with you." she eyed the moon and stars she had to go... go to him. She promised, she planed to eventually to see him and tell him she was with his half brother. But she just had to go. She had to be with him or she felt like she was going to die inside.

"But Kagome, I thought..." she looked at the ground as he walked around in front of her. She looked at him her eyes shimmering with guilty tears.

"I know... I thought I could be happy here with you." she pulled back tightening the thick shawl around her shoulders. "But..." she touched the aqua moon again.

"Why... can you..." she glared at him as a tear rolled down one of her pristine cheeks "where will you go?" he expected Kouga's name to pop up, but the words caught in her throat.

"N... no..." she looked at the grass and felt the moon again, he stiffened. "Your brother..."his eyes widened then he narrowed them and started to growl. How could she do this to him? Why?

"How could you?" he tightened his hands into fists. "Why him?" he started to growl. "Am I not enough for you?!" she looked back up at him and her bottom lip started to quiver. "IT'S BECAUSE I'M A HANYOU ISN'T IT?!" she looked at the ground again hiding her face as the wind rolled over them making the grass sing softly.

"No Inuyasha..." his ears flattened.

"THEN WHY?!" she looked up at him again her eyes softly glistening in the moonlight. Those soft caring eyes hardened.

"I DON'T KNOW!" she snapped at him; she seemed to grow when she yelled like that.

"Ka...Kagome..." they softened again, she turned to the hut.

"I'm sorry Inuyasha." She started to walk into the hut but he grabbed her by the shoulder.

"Kagome!" he snapped at her and she wrenched her shoulder out of his grasp.

"YOU HEARD ME!" Kagome narrowed her eyes as more tears started to clam her eyes. "I'm sorry." She turned to the hut and reached in the door grabbing her bag. She looked back at him standing strait and tall.

"There's nothing I can do?" she shook her head and looked at the moon again.

"I have to go..." he grabbed her arm gently and she shot him a dangerous look.

"Do you want me to take you?" she shook her head vigorously.

"I'm going to ask Kiara." He let go of her and watched her turn around to leave. "I'll visit I promise." He sat on the porch, he wanted to try and stop her but he knew that once she set her mind on something only she could stop it. Kagome looked back then turned and kept walking.

I'm sorry Inuyasha, she thought as she approached Sango and Miroku's hut. When she circled to the front Kiara and Sango where on the porch. It seemed that Miroku chose to be absent. She looked at the moon, the others didn't know. The wind wrapped its self around her moving her bangs again but Sango didn't see.

"Kagome what happened?" she moved to look in the young miko's eyes, Kagome met her gaze.

"I have to go." She looked at Kiara.

"Where?" Kagome smiled sadly and brushed her bangs aside showing her best friend her closely guarded secret. "Is that..." she reached out and traced it. "It is." She eyed it and looked into Kagomes eyes.

"I have to go to Sesshoumaru, I just can't be happy with Inuyasha..." her eyes teared up again and she dropped her bag as Sango gathered her close.

"Why?" kagome looked up at her.

"Because I love Sesshoumaru." Sango almost fainted.

"When did this happen?" Kagome thought about it.

"6 months 2 weeks ago." Sango nodded as Kagome pulled away and crouched in front of Kiara. "Will you please take me?" the cat looked at Sango and the woman nodded.

Total Eclipse Of The Moon...I'll See You Soon

Kiara changed and Kagome climbed on. Sango hefted Kagomes bag to her. Then smiled sadly. Kagome situated it in front of her.

"How'd Inuyasha take it?" kagome shook her head.

"Like I cut his foot off." She sighed and looked at Sango. "I'll visit in a few weeks." The woman nodded and Kagome nudged Kiara then the cat was off like a rocket.

Kagome clung to the warm beast and tried to keep from crying, she should have listened to her self sooner. Poor Inuyasha, I'm so sorry. She looked up to the moon as it started to set and the sun rose. Kagome looked a head and they where only minuets away. Kiara slowed down then landed at the gate, Kagome got off and hugged her telling her she loved her and would come see everyone.

Then she turned to the gate and walked right in like she lived there. She looked around the courtyard expecting to be over run with guards but no. She smiled and closed the gate. Then proceed to the front door, she thought about knocking but why bother. She opened the door and poked her head in. when she was threw the door a strange warmth clamed her, it felt like home. As she walked down the hall she saw Jaken's back to her.

"Jaken..." he jumped and looked around, when he turned and saw her he nearly fainted.

"So you did come back." He grumbled.

"Yes is Sesshoumaru up yet?" Jaken was not awarded the chance to answer.

"Yes I am." Kagome looked up and smiled dropping her bag. She flung her self at him catching the taiyoukai by surprise. But he wrapped his arms around her.

"I told you I'd come back." She whispered when he put a finger under her chin and turned her head up to look at him. He smiled one of his small almost unseen smiles; she stood on her tiptoes and kissed him. His eyes widened as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
