The Attack

Hey everyone, hope you like it! Please read and review.

Kagome had been different from other girls her whole life. She was the daughter of Yosho and Suki Higurashi. Yosho was the East Mafia leader, therefore his family had to keep a low profile. Their arch nemesis, the West Mafia led my Inutaisho Tenseiga, always had the upper hand.

Kagome was a delightful girl nearing of marriage age. Every one who had met her had absolutely loved her. She did not only have unbeatable beauty, but was very sweet and kind hearted too.

Her father was planning to marry her off to his friend Onigumo's son Hojo. Onigumo was the leader of the southern mafia. This marriage would serve as a permanent peace treaty for the two so they could gang up on the west mafia and finally take them down.

Kagome was outside with her adopted kitsune, Shippou. Their local priestess Keade had told her to be careful. She could feel some sort of attack coming from the west soon. It was just too nice of a day to take heed of the warning though. The west had never managed to get inside the palace gates.

"What do you want to do today Kagome?" Shippou asked.

Kagome wasn't paying attention. She looked as if in a trance or daydream.

"Earth to Kagome!" he shouted.

"Hm, what? Did you say something?"

"Is something wrong? You've been like this all morning."

"Oh, my dad said that I'm arranged to be marries to Hojo. You know him right?"

"Yeah, so what's the problem?"

"I don't want to marry Hojo. Don't get me wrong, he's a nice guy and all but he's just not my type."

Sometimes Shippou seemed more like a friend then a kitsune. She could talk to him about anything.

"Yeah, I see what you mean. Why do you have to marry him though?"

"Just so my father and his can sign a permanent peace treaty and gang up on the west."

Kagome and Shippou found a small little spring on the far edge of the property line. They both sat down and dangled their feet in.

"You know Shippou, I'm the only girl in the mafia circle, and so I should have seen something like this happening."

"I didn't know that."

"Yeah."

Kagome heard her mom shout for her in the distance.

"Shoot, looks like we'd better go back now."

They both ran back up to where her mother had called. She was standing there impatiently.

"What mom?" she asked.

"Could you watch Souta for a few nights? Your father and I are going to meet with Onigumo to make the wedding arrangements." Suki said.

"Aw, come on, you remember hat happened the last time."

"Kagome, please?"

"Fine, just tell the little fire bug to stay away from my room!"

"Okay, thanks honey! We will be leaving in a couple hours."

Kagome ran up to her room to hide her things from her brother. Shippou went to his own room.

The last time she watched him, he dropped a candle on her favorite kimono and it caught fire.

Kagome was in the process of throwing her thing into her closet.

"Hey, sis, what are you doing?"

Souta came out of her closet covered with the clothes she had thrown.

"What are you doing in here?!"

"Spying."

"Get out!" she threw an old scroll at him.

"Fine! Ouch!" he ran out.

A few days later...

"Okay men, we attack at nightfall." Myoga proclaimed.

Myoga was the west's battle tactics person.

"Remember, Inuyasha, you and this group attack the south side, Kikyo, you and this group attack the north side, Miroku, you and this group attack the west side, Sango, you and this group will attack he west side, and Sesshoumaru, seeing you are the stealthiest one here, you go find any one of kidnap value. Got it everyone?"

"Yes." They all muttered.

Meanwhile...

Kagome's parents would be back tomorrow and boy was she glad. Souta was a pain to watch after. She had managed to get Souta in the family room to do something quiet.

After a while, he got bored of just sitting there plotting other ways to make his sister miserable.

"Hey Kagome, will you play hide and seek with me and Shippou?"

"Fine, sure, I have barely heard a peep out of you for sometime."

"You seek first Kagome."

Kagome turned around and began counting.

"Ready or not, here I come!" she shouted.

Shippou didn't hide, he always was Kagome's eye when they played this.

"He went to your closet." Shippou chuckled out.

Souta always hid there. It drove Kagome nuts.

She silently crept up to her room and snuck to her closet door. Gingerly, she opened it and looked in. He wasn't there. It also drove her nuts when he would move when he knew she was coming. It was a big place, and there was a million places he could be.

Kagome decided to let him suffer, so she just sat at her father's desk in his office while Souta would have to suffer of being stuffed up waiting to be found. She laughed at the thought. She might as well get her fun in ow while she was still unmarried.

Suddenly, she heard crash and what sounded like people running into the castle. At that moment she knew she had to find Souta and evacuate the building.

She silently uncovered the underground passage, grabbed Shippou, and snuck into it.

"Kagome, what's going on?"

"I don't know, but it doesn't sound good."

Kagome bumped into a short figure in the dark.

"Kagome, is that you?"

"Yes, follow me Souta."

She grabbed his hand and ran down the passageways looking for the most remote spot of the tunnels.

Kagome remembered bluntly where it was. Her father had shown it to her when she was little, he told her to go there in case of an emergency. Finally, after what seemed like forever, she reached a dead end in the southern most corner. They sat there and didn't dare say a word or move.

...

Sesshoumaru could pick up the scent of a young boy, a kitsune, and an almost of age girl.

They had slain pretty much all of the servants and guards. Now they were looking for Yosho's whereabouts.

Sesshoumaru couldn't smell Yosho anywhere. He did however, find a passage door underneath a rug in Yosho's office.

He lifted the door up and leapt in. He could smell the three's fear, so he followed it.

The passageways were all dark and damp. This was taking longer then he suspected. He ran into several dead ends, and found a few decoys. Just when he was about to give up, he heard whispering to his right a ways off.

"Don't worry, everything will be alright. Mom and Dad will be home in the morning ."

It was a girl's voice. He followed it down the passageway. Sesshoumaru felt the presence of the three.

"Who's there?" he demanded.

Kagome silently hugged Shippou and Souta close to her and pressed closer to the wall.

Sesshoumaru reached out in front of him and his hand met the smooth surface of Kagome's face. She could feel his sharp claws against her cheek followed by his soft fingertips.

This girl smelt kind of nice.

"Identify yourselves if you value your lives!" he barked out at them.

Kagome's jaw began to tremble. What should she say? He would kill them if he thought they were servants. On the other hand, if he found out that they were the children of Yosho Higurashi, he would probably take them hostage. What to do, what to do. She had to make a decision and soon otherwise he would probably kill them on the spot.
