First, about the Konnichi wa thing; if English is the writer's second language and Japanese is the first, her rendering of Romaji might not be correct - remember; Romaji (Japanese rendered in Roman characters, the letters used by our language tree) is an attempt to make Japanese easier to learn and there are several types - Modified Hepburn method is the most commonly used now, but as the author wouldn't have learned Japanese as a non-Japanese speaker, there is no reason to expect her to get the Romaji right.

A perhaps more valid issue would be the overuse of Japanese phrases. The consensus (which of course, any writer is free to follow or ignore, these reviews are only opinion) is that if a word cannot really be translated; to use the Japanese word in Romaji form.

Examples would be Youkai (and any variants InuYoukai/DaiYouaki/TaiYoukai Inu no Taisho - that sort of thing) Hanyou, and even though Ningen translates to human nicely, the contempt with which it is used is often not carried though..

Of course honorifics of any kind; everything from -chan, -kun, -san, and -sama, to things that are even less common and more distinctively culturally Japanese; such as -senpai (sempai is also seen) and -Sensei for anyone who teaches; a doctor, and many other different situations.. Houshi for a Monk is also not really translatable.

Using Japanese words where there are English words that are fine translations just to use Japanese words is a bit more of an issue -- a bit of it to establish mood is fine in my view, but it can go too far, in which case the author might wish to cut back where they aren't necessary - but again, subjective and up to the writer.

The only real objective issue is that of the spelling/syntax and other similar errors; that, and the perceived attitude.

It's natural that the writer when not a native English speaker, will make errors; our native English speaking writers make errors also :) But these errors are more of the sort that a non-native English would make - normal and to be expected.

Perhaps the writer might work with one of her friends as a beta, ideally a native speaker, to work through some of the words that are used incorrectly and the spelling, syntax, and such.

Other than that, the attitude is really the only thing... EVERYONE who writes fan fiction has things to do, many are married, have children, work and so forth.. and anyone who writes does it because they enjoy writing.

Acting as if one is more... or different from the others and the whole attitude thing in the Author's notes is a bit off-putting, but I'm going to assume it's based in defensiveness and hope that time will be the best cure ;)

First and foremost, welcome back. I've missed your story. I remember when it came out originally, and also remember liking it, but somehow I didn't know about all the drama... I am a little slow sometimes.

However, now that I feel like I understand what you're talking about when referencing your past problems, and I must say good for you that you came back. I am sorry that you had to experience all that, especially [from what I can surmise] because of a reviewer who should have appreciated your willingness to write. Some people have no class. Such as [what I consider] targetting of your story, since anything less than 9.8 is a crime, considering your work.

The second thing to comment on is the re-write Just Roomies? has undergone. The title originally made me think that the story might simply be something light-hearted, quick to the porn. But you've carried it beyond that, so well done.

Third, I understand that you write Harry Potter under a different screen name? I would much appreciate if you could tell me the name [or at least drop a hint] because I am sure that anything else you write will be the same high quality. If not, I understand.

Lastly, I would ask that if there is a mailing list or anything you offer, based on updates? I have noticed that many people have said they prefer this version compared to the prior. I fully agree yet am confused. My rating for the old one, before I left after RED TWO, was at an 9.98. Now it is at a rating bellow 9.80; a mininum I have placed for myself. I find it curiously perturbing that while this version has better grammar, characterizations, plot and obviously more time place into it, it has a lower rating. I am assuming it is because 'people' are angry that I have restarted the story.

You write very good, as you well know but when will Kagome stop beign a crybaby? Is this going to another fic where kagome stays near him, Sesshoumaru recognizes his mistake and they get togather but before that he sleeps with tons of women and she is still faithful an din love? Sesshoumaru does not love Kagura, and yet he sleeps with her. You have said he has had 4 and 5somes so why not kagome? Why cn't she sleep with Ai and date him seriously? I am not saying for her to be free with her favors but to sleep with someone that cares for her. By you refusing to let kagome mature and to be so obssessed with Sesshoumaru that she can't progress shows her to be weak-willed. Try to make her a stronger character that has gone on with her life.

For your question about Christmas and how it is established through the Crhistian church...well....as you probably know. Christmas is the day of Jesus's birth. The Christmas tree is a symbol of the tree Christ was sacrificed on. The lights and star represent the star that lead the kingsmen to Jesus's birthplace, and gifts we give one another are given because the Kingsmen gave Christ gifts to celebrate his birth. Santa is a fictional man said to travel around on the 24th and go to every boy's and girl's house and place either a gift(if they were good that year) or a lump of coal (if they were bad)

Santa although is a made up person. He is based off a real Christian Saint. Saint Nicholas is said to have given all his money to the childen of the town and he did all in his power to help the poor.

WOW... There's a lot of dramma going on. All I can really say is WOW...

I do really feel sorry for Ai because although Kagome did say she can't promise him anything, she seems to be leading him on. I mean, she's goin to the Taiyoukai thingy with Ai and she's ,as you put it, "seeing Ai", yet she told him not to wait for her.

I also don't understand at the beginning of the FF, I KNOW I read somthing about Kagome being a virgin. Then when she was talking to Ai, she said it was Sesshoumaru whom her heart chose. She gave him everything including her virginity. So I'm kinda confused. Is Kagome a virgin?

OOOOOOO there's someting eles... Why is Kagura so afraid of Ai? I understand that Ai wants to protect Kagome and he's pretty scary when he wants to be, but somehow, there's this feeling that there's some thing going on with Kagura and Ai. I mean, why is she scared of him?

Having suffered a loss in my own family this year, I understand how hard it is to write after something like that. My Grandmother-in-law died in the spring. I was really close with her and I'm still finding it hard to sit down and just write. But it gets easier every day.

As for your story, it's simply wonderful. You've come a long way. I've been following you for awhile. It was already quite good, but I do belive you've improved in leaps and bounds. I can't wait for the next chapter. You make my heart pang for Kagome... which is just plain good writing.

Other than the few spelling or grammer mistakes, this fic is very well written. Your vocabulary is extensive which gives the story a non repetativeness to it. I had a couple Japanese exchange students in one of my college classes and they said that entrance into Tokyo U is very difficult. Therefore, you must be as intelligent as you say you are. Hey! ^_^ I was reading your old version of this story, but I stopped for a while and just recently did I rediscover it. I was a little dissapointed when I realized you were rewriting it, but after reading it once again I'm actually glad you redid it. ^^ I think it's much better now! I mean I liked it before, but now I simply love it lol. You shouldn't feel too bad about people whining that they're going to have to wait for chapters again. I'm positive it'll be worth the wait and if people can't see how much better this new version is then they obviously have some sort of mental deficency. =P

I love the story line of this whole fanfic. See I'm not usually into reading the more angsty ones, but this really caught my eye. It's an interesting idea, and I like how you show little tid bits of what happened between Sesshoumaru and Kagome, but you leave us in suspense by noy telling us the whole story. It's annoying, but efficent and it leaves me just wanting to read more. xD

I really like the difference of Sesshoumaru's personality in the two versions. I've always understood that he is a demon and he will be violent at times, but I don't really like a super abusive Sesshoumaru. ^^;

Oh! I love the chapter you just uploaded. (Three) It was a completely different chapter from the old version and very cool. ^-^ I'm interested now to find out about Ai and I'm curious about Sesshoumaru's reaction to Kagome being kissed and taken away by him.

Another thing I loved the way that you made Sesshoumaru angry when Miroku was in Kagome's room yet how he wouldn't admit to himself that the reason he was angry was because he still felt something for Kagome lol.

You're really doing a perfect job, in my opinion anyway, of making Sesshoumaru think and do little things that show he still cares for Kagome despite the fact that he believes she betrayed him. It's like he knows he cares for her, but he doesn't want to admit it because he thinks that she's just a ningen gold-digging whore.

I also love Kagome's personality. It's entertaining to watch her try to hate Sesshoumaru because of how he acts towards her and failing horribly lol. You've definetely made the times she resists him and the times she gives in good amounts; Because you see that she's still got her firey personality despite her pent up feelings, but at the same time she really is confused about why Sesshoumaru hates her so much.

Oh by the way I really have to applaud you on your ability to make Sesshoumaru and Kagome both believe their own ideas about what happened yet never actually say enough to where the other one can deny it or that it would lead to them talking and resolving their problems too early in the story. I definetely couldn't do that lol. I mean it's hard, or at least it seems like it would be, to make them be interacting so much, but not giving away to eachother what they believed happened. ^^

Anyway my hands are tired and I figured that I'll most likely be sending more reviews for your next chapters so I'll end this. ^-^ Again, wonderful idea to rewrite this story and you're doing great! You musn't be concerned with ratings. It will only frustrate you more. If anything, write for yourself and for the love of your art. Whether people will like what you do or not depends on them, and you can't control other's opinions. You have a great base of fans that love your work and just because some damn coward rates you down, without even telling you why, shouldn't upset you so.

It's a natural human trait to want to fit in and be liked, I know. And if I'm remembering my Japanese culture correctly, I know that above all, conformity is something the Japanese value greatly. So perhaps it's not so easy for you to just disregard what others say.

It's a bit easier for me, my heritage being Irish and Scottish, both cultures are known for their love of individuality. So perhaps my advice falls on deaf ears.

In any event, know that I like what you do and that not matter the rating, I'll continue to watch.

I want you to know I really enjoy all your writing and the creativity you display in the various fics you have composed. In regards to flames, just let them go; I never took a flamer seriously since most of them are written by people too chicken-sh*t to wirte or post anything. It takes more courage and personality to put yourself and your writing out there for others' to see, then it does to write a crappy flame mail. My opinion, that person is jealous and has to try to bring you down to feel better about his/her-self.

Besides the point of what I wanted to say in this review, I also want you to know that even the best of the best have their critics, and if those cirtics are not constrictive and supportive in their critism there's no need to take them seriously.

Finally, I am enjoying this version of the fic more than the previous storyline. Though the other story was also interesting, I felt that Kagome was a bit of a pushover, but now she's taking a stand more and not letting Sess walk all over her. Good for her. Also, the change in Sess's character is hardly noticable; I believe that Sess can be both violent and withdrawn and still be within the broad paramenters of the character provided by R.Takahashi; she has left much of his personality open to individual interpretation which makes writing fics all the easier for us.

That's all I have for you. I rated your fic for you, so hopefully it brings the overall ratings closer to where you want to be. Please excuse any typos and spelling errors I made in this review.
