Yes, your assumptions are correct, what Kagome saw in the part was a future version of herself, with Sesshoumaru and their daughter.

A couple of others were suspecting Naraku as well. I tried to give the eye colour as a bit of a hint - but in the end at least by the reviews I got only 2 people guessed Kenichirou - which is kinda cool, 'cause that only means I managed to take a whole lot of people by surprise.

As the Well stopping working, I wanted them to spend more time in the future than they intended to. In the first place, the well didn't want to let them through, partly because Sesshoumaru was unknown to the well but also because of the chain and all its powerful enchantments. In the end, the chain united both Kagome's and Sesshoumaru's power to force their way through the portal, which temporarily messed up the portal's magical balance. I hope that makes sense. ^^; I guess I didn't explain it clearly enough in the story.

As for Rin staying with Kaede instead of the Western castle, there are two reasons. First, Kimiko doesn't really approve of her son's habits, having a human child as a pet included. Second, because it's something that actually happened in the series and I wanted to incorporate it to the story. In the end of Inuyasha series, Sesshoumaru had left Rin in Kaede's care. I think he considers leaving her with Kaede in a human village to be better for her than leaving her alone in a castle full of demons.
