I know now myself that the overlap of the idea is not such a big deal it seemed to be earlier on, I guess I was just bothered about it myself, since I want to be original, and even if I wouldn't be plagiarising, the concept would already be familiar to some and that'd bring the originality down a notch.

About odd phrases, that's probably totally my fault. I thought that by now I would be at least close to a native's level in English, but I suppose I was wrong then. I'll go read a few phrasebooks to brush up when I'll have time.

And the extra words you mentioned, could you please give me an example, I don't quite understand what you mean by that.
