I didn't know all the names for Inuyasha's Japanese voice acting cast either, but luckily the names were pretty easy to find online.

About your question, they're not just recording the voices in the studio. They're not making Inuyasha the TV anime, they're making Inuyasha the TV drama. A full on live-action TV show. It will become more evident later on, up until now for most part the story has been just slowly getting started. :3
